Life is more like in Allentown with real problems than it is in a musical made for escapement. It is all part of growing up. And the wisdom to know the difference. It shouldn't surprise you at all.
This for me is Billy Joel at his best. Just playing his songs, by himself, on piano. Sometimes the overproduction of his studio works adds too much schmaltz to his songs. But by himself, he is superb, poignant, and right on the money.
Thank you, Chuck Klosterman.

Wow OMG - if you listen carefully at the end, the music is Allentown. Just slower 2:30.
When he finishes you can start singer. "Well we're living here in Allentown!" lol

I can feel his depression in this, much as I can identify his thoughts with my own.
