@MrIrishlogic It was to increase safety. The grooved tyres were used to decrease the amount of surface area that contacted the ground because turn in speeds were getting so high. But then with all the engine regulations and such there was no need for it anymore.

you cannot see any unnecessary moves (even though hes not pushing to the limit), but if you watch other drivers, you'll see LOTS of little mistakes. He has 1 per lap, others have one per CORNER.

Ohhh yeah great engine sound this 20,000 rpm V8 back in 2006. Now we just have 18,000 rpm V8. And in 2013 F1 will have 10,000 rpm twin turbo four stroke engines :( all because of greenpeace. Fuck youuu! Greenpeace is also doing good things but this is just bad. F1 is just such a small part of the carbondioxide released into the air, it won't make any difference if F1 will change to four stroke. And no good engine sound anymore :( F1 will be quiet :(

@kweli25 He is pushing so much that he locks the inside front wheel under braking for turn 1 - and the car is understeering much of the time. He also has oversteer exiting the second Lesmo. It's not qualifying laps, but it could easily have been race laps.

I reckon he's doing 1:25 or 1:26, which could be race laps while saving the tyres a bit. I'm not saying that it is race laps, but he was pushing enough that it could've been.
