You can't. Anything that's developed by RIM (author) has to have a data plan for it to work. It doesn't come with the phone but it's downloadable.

@funnykidization unfortunately not, although you can download free applications such as "Nimbuzz" etc, which allow you to connect to multiple instant messaging accounts, so through those kinds of applications you can use the facebook chat feature, but it is a drawback, hopefully facebook releases an upgrade to their application that integrates the chat feature (Y)

I'm getting an upgrade next month, and I'm still freakin' confused what to get. It would be my first smartphone and I'm really excited! My mom got her iPhone last year and I was really jealous and want to have my own too. I always borrow and use it as if it's mine, download apps and everything then I got bored with it. Now I'm thinking of getting Bold 9700 instead, but I want my own iPhone too!! I'm so fuckin torn. I don;t know what to choose. :(

@acamiile a blackberry mate these things are super reliable and all the apps on blackberrys are free as suppoed to the iphone where everything is 59p and if you dont have an apple acount it can be really annoying i know i have an ipod touch :)

@DaMiTay1 by god get the blackberry and the touch the touch has all the great features of the iphone without the phone and the blackberry you can use for your emaíling web browsing texting calling etc. hope this helps :)
