@italianmuscles That's actually not accurate. XX chromosomes are female, XY are male. When a person's chromosomes are atypical, that is called intersex, and it's different than trans. Transgender is a blanket term referring to a variety of different things- but the uniting factor is that the person's internal, psychological gender identity somehow doesn't conform. You can be XX or XY (have a clear biological sex) and be trans if your gender doesn't match your sex.

(Under the Bush administration it was a little different; you just had to be a friend of the family or an avowed religious fundamentalist, but the Obama adminstration has considerably tightened the quality control.)

Actually, no. XX is female. XY is male. What you're referencing is the SRY gene that's a component of the sexual chromosome that's been theorized as responsible for "gender identity".
Nothing's been proven anymore than all the genes that people theorize are responsible for hair loss, fat accumulation or cholesterol problems.
Deal is, they've theorized that certain genes are responsible for pedophilia, schizophrenic behavior and paranoid delusions.

@italianmuscles That's actually not accurate. XX chromosomes are female, XY are male. When a person's chromosomes are atypical, that is called intersex, and it's different than trans. Transgender is a blanket term referring to a variety of different things- but the uniting factor is that the person's internal, psychological gender identity somehow doesn't conform. You can be XX or XY (have a clear biological sex) and be trans if your gender doesn't match your sex.

@anddihier what is "normal and decent"? you can't justify something as insane just because it's outside the realm of your comprehensive abilities. in order to go through a sex change operation, people have to see a psychiatrist. the fact that she completed her sex change means that she was okayed by a psychiatrist and definitely not insane. it would be insane for her to continue living a life that she's not comfortable with. how is this different than somebody getting plastic surgery?
