New iPhone firmware? Almost certainly not! I think it would be released in beta form to the same folks who tested 2.2, and that hasn't happened that I'm aware.

My personal hope is for a good media server! I'd love a box that scales well and backs up, serves and enhances all the media from my iTunes library.

I could totally be wrong, but in terms of iPod Touch, I don't think they will get much bigger, because it's already a 3.5" screen, and basically its a product designed to do a ton of stuff and fit in your pocket; which it does...

So if the screen was much bigger (and held aspect ratio and the like to do what you want) then it would start to get close to not fitting in your pocket...

And, the whole iPod range was revamped in Sept, so I can't see them updating the touch again next week.

You might as well hold off, because GENERALLY, when there's a computer update, they ship the next day (in the US, and so not long after worldwide)...but you might have to wait a little while...

But seeing as the announcement is next week, hold off on buying, see what they say...if there is a major announcement; aesthetic or internal and you like it, hold off until its out (assuming its not too long), and if you don't, hurry and buy the current one before its updated =]

If they arent going to put quad cores into Imacs then i'll wait yet another year. I doubt they will be I7's but fingers crossed. I also hope there is a Blu-ray option!

Still hoping for turn by turn GPS for Iphone. Why oh why we still havent got MMS and text forwarding, copy/paste for iphone is beyond me. Theyve had loads of oppotunity to fix this. But seems their latest updates just seem less important like rejig of google maps.

Well thats kind of irrelevant really, cos thats like saying apple wont make mp3 players cos people download them from itunes and play them on their computers.

If they want to make apple product the multimedia centre of the house then they need to increase overall use of the system. This is done by peripherals. Blu ray player on imacs would be a wonderful idea.

1. A black bezel would make all the MacBooks look the same (im guessing apple would want some contrast)

Jon, most of the stuff that you have is pretty possible but in my opinion they have a real chance of updating the iPhone hardware and software. I agree that they will update the Mac Mini cause they are the second slowest macs and watered down. But Snow Leopard still has a chance of being the talk of Macworld but Apple may wait until WWDC 2009. Anyway only about a month till we find out. Great job with the videos Jon!

i dont think that they will upgrade the iphone or the macbook pro because they were just recently updated. i think there will be an software update though for like mms and video recording and landscape texting which i would like . i think for sure the mac mini will be upgraded and i think very soon that the imac will be touch screen because of the new hp and sony imac copies do have touch screens. apple is our evolution.

In case your memory is a bit on the rusty side, perhaps you should be reminded of the fact that a whole lot of people were skeptical when Microsoft announced the XBox. Not to mention you might do well in reading up on project "Pippin" from the mid 1990s.

SnowLeopard will be a welcome addition... but i think with the 17" MBP's they will do the aluminum Unibody, but not at the reduced .95 inches, they should keep the 1" form factor and leave more ceiling inside for better hardware... especially an improved GPU.

Also, i would like to see the macbook Air support the black bezel and smooth screen, but also be converted into a tablet... just flip the screen around, remove the KB, and you're good to go... if someone wants a KB, just go with a macbook

Apple will not put in a Blu-Ray drive, because they want you to get content from iTunes instead of through a disk, also the MacBook Air is a good example of what Apple wants every consumer to have, a notebook that does everything wirelessly.

Intel Core Duo chips won't get the benefits of Snow Leopard as much as the Core 2 Duos. They don't have the same internal architecture. No tablet, sorry. Mac Pro's will get the Nehalem processors, although they may not be shipping at the time of the announcement. They (like mine) already have Quad Core "Harpertown" processors. But the Core i7 processor has some added benefits.

Im almost positive that they are releasing an iPhone for Verizon network. This is because apple has just recruited some engineers with the experience of building CDMA cell phones. Plus att and apples contract can possibly be up as early as 2009.
