Alot of stuff happend in those 3 years between and Empire and Jedi, its not heard or talked about because its not relevant to the Skywalker family story. With the exception of Vader ordering his SSD to blow Xizors skyhook because Xizor wanted Luke dead. He pulled a dad card. Thats the only relevant point in those 3 years.
@Mack488 However this conflicts with the game as Vader was nowhere to be found during the Skyhook battle, another thing which you cant ignore is that Vader WAS present during the Falcons blast off out of Echo and would have been around the exact time Dash would have however no vader. The game also states that Dash found the New Death Star plans and not a group of bothans as said by Mon-Motha in RoTJ. Love the game but it causes to many inconsistencys, sorry but its Non-Canon IMO.
@Mack488 That's true, Vader was nowhere to be seen when the Falcon blasts off and Dash appeared. However Xizor knows Dash when in the Book he doesn't recognized him as he's with Luke, Leia, Lando and Chewie at the castle on Imperial Central. And also at the Skyhook battle, the Star Destroyer blows the Skyhook to pieces and Dash makes it out by staging it was hit by the debris when in the game he was caught in the explosion.
@Mack488 Actually the Bothans did get the Death Star data. Dash recovered it from the ship, the Bothans objective was to then decode it and deliver it to the Rebel high command. Pretty much all the Bothans got killed and even Luke got captured. I read the book
@teethgrinder07 Yeah. Lucas once said he would have made a movie if he had the time and resources in the 80s. I've read the book and comic as well as played the game. If it was too become a movie then the entire fucking academy awards would implode on itself, the movie would just be too awesome
@riseofz LOL. I met him a few weeks ago at the oshkosh airshow where he was showing a preview for his new movie. I should have said something about shadows to him. Now I hear he has a script for a live action tv show, but dang it. I WANT SHADOWS
This particular bit for the menu theme is actually unused music from the Empire Strikes Back, so technically this theme was composed by John Williams.
I really like this track, and for reasons I don't know, I can actually play my SOTE CD on iTunes on the PC. But this is the only track that doesn't fit, it seems to be grey, and over 40 minutes long. If I ever find a way to get it on, that would be good, but could I ask the official track name, if you know?
just downlaod it off youtube. Go to video2mp3 com thats how i get most of mysongs now. Dont waste your time trying to find the song else where it will never happen.
Beautiful memories that we all have. Lets hope it's a resolved nostalgia and not a "I should have completed this on Jedi and seen the ending" type sadness haha!
its from the old trilogy, i wondered well as I find this randomly on the episode 5 soundtrack, its on the second song called "Main Title - The Imperial Probe", listen it ;)
the song sounds the most star warsish out of the whole official soundtrack, yet it's not on the disc. After all these years (nearly a decade), I've finally tracked it down.
This video game brings back the good old days. With nothing to do all summer long back in my child hood, all I had was this and a few other star wars games. This was the best video game I ever had.
Even though, lets be honest, it wasn't a very good game, I still have great memories playing it when i was a kid. It properly immersed you into the star wars universe. If only it had been made into a movie, I reckon it would have been better than Jedi.
Dash was definitly a cool enough character to warrant a movie adaption of this game. Especially when you read the book, and see how well it translated into a game... It'd make a fantastic film.
I remember getting this as my first game for the N64. I was probably like 9 or 10 years old when my dad bought me the console and game for christmas. The game alone was like $80, but damn does this bring back memories. One of my fav games on the N64.
They should this game into a movie. All this Star Wars prequel shit is getting to me already. And base the movie around Dash Rendar as the only main hero.
This theme was actually written by John Williams. It's an unused cue from The Empire Strikes Back, found on "Main Titles/Ice Planet Hoth" on the soundtrack.
@Falor5151 I wonder just what was happening in the scene for which this cue was originally going to be used for in Empire... (was the entire piece going to be played over shots of unconscious Luke getting dragged 30 miles away?)
I believe he did write it. Alot of the music, including this track, is actually edited from Empire Strikes back...but some of the tracks are his. John Williams recommended him....and I think it turned out awesome.
The Force Unleashed, KOTOR, and this game....are the only ones I can think of with independent non-movie star wars music....this happens to be my favorite, but alot of childhood memories attached....loved this game
escuchar este tema me trae recuerdos ,fue el primer juego que juge para el nintendo 64 me gustaba mucho escuchar este tema es un buen juego que que aun sigo jugando
The soundtrack for Shadows of the Empire was such a great mix of music from the Empire Strikes Back and original composition, that and it was one of the greatest games I have ever played.
what I wanna know is where i can find the music of shadows of the empire...like, for each level..not the soundtrack, i have the soundtrack..but the echo base level, gall spaceport, and menu theme are some good songs I'd love to listen to on my ps3 while playing killzone 2 or a custom music supported game..I thought the force unleashed soundtrack would have at least 2 of the songs since you do hear the echo base song in the bespin level..but nope...im looking specifically for these three..help?
If you guys miss this game so much, why don't you try Gamedude, it's an awesome place to get games from nintendo 64, super nintendo, etc. Or try eBAY.
This brings back the good old days, I was about 19.......drinking and gettin nicely stoned playin this awesome game. The immersive soundtrack just pulls you in and some of the levels were fuckin rock hard and massive. Great use of Empires soundtrack too. A great game that screams movie but it'll never happen. The prequels seem even worse after this. One of my greatest gaming experiences ever was Shadows.
@mrlavabeast i feel the same way (minus the drinking and getting stoned part i was 7 when this came out) this probably was the first perfect star wars game ever
There is an official soundtrack, but apparently this song isn't even on it. Its mostly music from The Empire Strikes Back with a few songs from the actual game.
Yeah it's actually an unused cue in the Empire Strikes Back, it's on the soundtrack for that film, but obviously edited to suit what they were doing with this game's menu.
I think it was supposed to play after the shot of Luke being dragged off camera by the Wampa, the part you see the dissolve happen.
I cant stop listing to the soundtrack.....Why go so far but not even do a real movie...I guess its one of the few expanded universe things that has the feel of the original star wars
I agree a truelly 100 percent title this music was still and always is chilling I recently got a new n64 and Ive gotta get like a plugin for it this game (again) then a couple controllers then good to go!
OMG I remember trying to enter the cheat codes for this game and I had to hold the controller in a funny way to press certain buttons together lol. First you had to type in Wompa Stompa or something like that :) Ahhhh the nostalgic memories :D
This game needs to be remade, I prefer this over the prequels, if only george lucas had the brain to write such a good story, this would have been turned into a movie more focused on the adventure side of the star wars world.
Couldn't they just make Shadows of the Empire an animated movie with all the old actors voicing their characters? If they can make a Star Wars animated movie, why not this?
If you're eager to play as Dash during the events of Jedi Outcast, I recommend that you get "Dash Rendar resurgence" for Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.
yeah this game was the shit I tough they were tryin to re.releasing the game for gamecube as rebel strike man that game sucked ass compared to this game..this theme is good to never herd it in any of the movies or other star wars game..
this will become a movie. I promise you that I will make this into a goddamn feature film, If i have to go all the way to skywalker ranch to persuade mr.lucas himself, then so be it...it's a 2-part or 3-part movie..im writing the first part called "star wars: mercenaries" about dash rendar, how he met han solo and lando, it ends with him leaving the tatoonie spaceport after luke arrives, and the next movie will be on this game...the third, I'll have to see what I can make of that.
i always thought the same. make it cgi and still use the main charactures of the movie as voice actors since many actors sound much the same as they used to.
I never thought CGI I thought more of a mature cartoon, like the animation on the cover of the N64 or the animation from the N64 slideshow cut scenes.
I loved this game. Messing around with wampas and then running back into the Millenium Falcon to hide haha. I liked how there was on foot stuff as well as space fights. Talk about back in the day..
This theme creeped me out when I was like 11. I played the shit out of this game though. Me and my friend used to have races to see who could finish Gall Spaceport the fastest. Such a long level lol
This is one of the first games I ever played on N64, this and Mario Kart 64. I never heard of Dash Rendar in the movies or anything but he rocks. My friend was really into star wars told me that he survives and escapes on an asteroid or something and gets with that cyborg human lady.
no dash rendar first appeared in the shadows of the empire novel which the game is based on, the only major difference is in the novel dash isn't a main character. but it is argued weather he survives. if you beat the game on a harder difficulty in the game it shows him faking his death. but in the book it says he dies. a lot of the game is non-canon, such as him fighting boba fett.
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a multimedia project created by Lucasfilm Ltd. in 1996. The original idea was to create an interquel, a story set between the movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (a time no Star Wars novel had explored before), and to explore all commercial possibilities of a full motion picture release, without actually making the film.
i think you're thinking of shadows of the empire the soundtrack. which is not the soundtrack to the game. although some of the songs are. shadows of the empire was originaly released as a book in 96 then they released a ton of stuff like a game, a comic, a soundtrack, and toys.
The song of my childhood! lol

yeah this game was the shit I tough they were tryin to re.releasing the game for gamecube as rebel strike man that game sucked ass compared to this game..this theme is good to never herd it in any of the movies or other star wars game..

this will become a movie.

I loved the story line, really good. The music gave it the star wars feel, but giving its own place in the saga.
I remember they had toys and comics for this, really big.

Cara vc é brasileiro não é ?

This would make a good animated TV series.
EvanP7117 3 years ago 5
they should make make a sote movie ...since they made episode 1-3 and clone wars (animated)
why not a dash renda film with weebo and the outrider... that would be awesome
MrTBSC 3 years ago 5
i always thought the same. make it cgi and still use the main charactures of the movie as voice actors since many actors sound much the same as they used to.
mechayamcha 3 years ago
I never thought CGI I thought more of a mature cartoon, like the animation on the cover of the N64 or the animation from the N64 slideshow cut scenes.
EvanP7117 3 years ago
Or maybe they could do it in the style of the Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight.
zingtea 3 years ago
@mechayamcha hell yeah this as a cgi movie would be way better than the clone wars movie and show

I loved this game. Messing around with wampas and then running back into the Millenium Falcon to hide haha. I liked how there was on foot stuff as well as space fights. Talk about back in the day..
krud88 3 years ago
LOL ! one thing like to do is leave some stormtroopers alive and then let the wampas out and run past the ST and let the wampas kill them.

Haha yeah it was good times.

This theme creeped me out when I was like 11. I played the shit out of this game though. Me and my friend used to have races to see who could finish Gall Spaceport the fastest. Such a long level lol
jmp51985 3 years ago 5
lol, we raced in that level to save luke, fun as hell but hated it when i landed in that scarlett pit monster.

This is one of the first games I ever played on N64, this and Mario Kart 64. I never heard of Dash Rendar in the movies or anything but he rocks. My friend was really into star wars told me that he survives and escapes on an asteroid or something and gets with that cyborg human lady.
TripleNipple3 3 years ago 2
no dash rendar first appeared in the shadows of the empire novel which the game is based on, the only major difference is in the novel dash isn't a main character. but it is argued weather he survives. if you beat the game on a harder difficulty in the game it shows him faking his death. but in the book it says he dies. a lot of the game is non-canon, such as him fighting boba fett.
mechayamcha 3 years ago
Dash Rendar was a badass i don't get why he wasn't in any of the movies
wunderboy64 3 years ago
The movies couldnt contain his awesomeness

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a multimedia project created by Lucasfilm Ltd. in 1996. The original idea was to create an interquel, a story set between the movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (a time no Star Wars novel had explored before), and to explore all commercial possibilities of a full motion picture release, without actually making the film.

They've tried to do it again with The Force Unleashed, which sucks IMO.

This game made me delve deeper into the star wars universe. The books are amazing, as well as the comics.. you find out so much from it!!

one of the best N64 games in my opinion, along with GoldenEye 64.

are there higher quality versions of these songs, outside of N64? I thought I saw stuff on iTunes once.
teamwounder 3 years ago 2
i think you're thinking of shadows of the empire the soundtrack. which is not the soundtrack to the game. although some of the songs are. shadows of the empire was originaly released as a book in 96 then they released a ton of stuff like a game, a comic, a soundtrack, and toys.
