  • The song of my childhood! lol

  • John Williams is my hero<3

  • Alot of stuff happend in those 3 years between and Empire and Jedi, its not heard or talked about because its not relevant to the Skywalker family story. With the exception of Vader ordering his SSD to blow Xizors skyhook because Xizor wanted Luke dead. He pulled a dad card. Thats the only relevant point in those 3 years.

  • @Mack488 However this conflicts with the game as Vader was nowhere to be found during the Skyhook battle, another thing which you cant ignore is that Vader WAS present during the Falcons blast off out of Echo and would have been around the exact time Dash would have however no vader. The game also states that Dash found the New Death Star plans and not a group of bothans as said by Mon-Motha in RoTJ. Love the game but it causes to many inconsistencys, sorry but its Non-Canon IMO.

  • @Mack488 That's true, Vader was nowhere to be seen when the Falcon blasts off and Dash appeared. However Xizor knows Dash when in the Book he doesn't recognized him as he's with Luke, Leia, Lando and Chewie at the castle on Imperial Central. And also at the Skyhook battle, the Star Destroyer blows the Skyhook to pieces and Dash makes it out by staging it was hit by the debris when in the game he was caught in the explosion.

  • @Mack488 Actually the Bothans did get the Death Star data. Dash recovered it from the ship, the Bothans objective was to then decode it and deliver it to the Rebel high command. Pretty much all the Bothans got killed and even Luke got captured. I read the book

  • @Mack488 The gap between Empire and Jedi is only 1 year.

  • I JUST NOSTALGIA'D

    EVERYWHERE

  • i love how dark and fucked up this game was, and how dash rendar was the perfect anti hero that nobody heard of

i wish fucking wish they would make a movie of it, cgi of course but decent realistic cgi not this cartoon shit

  • @teethgrinder07 highly agreed

  • @teethgrinder07 Yeah. Lucas once said he would have made a movie if he had the time and resources in the 80s. I've read the book and comic as well as played the game. If it was too become a movie then the entire fucking academy awards would implode on itself, the movie would just be too awesome

  • @historyman9 he has the time and resources NOW.

  • @riseofz LOL. I met him a few weeks ago at the oshkosh airshow where he was showing a preview for his new movie. I should have said something about shadows to him. Now I hear he has a script for a live action tv show, but dang it. I WANT SHADOWS

  • @historyman9 NEW MOVIE?

  • @riseofz yep. It's called Red Tails. He showed the trailer there for the first time. It looks awesome.

  • Fucking love this game and this epic ass song N64 4 LIFE!!!!!!

  • Why was Prince Xizor not featured in the Star Wars movies?

  • @720942008 Because he died here.

  • @720942008 he appears shortly in episode 1. in the pod racing scene, he is standing in the stands, by jabba if i remember right

  • I miss the Star Wars of this era...

  • Great game. Went back and played it again recently. Its aged a bit but its still a great game!

  • This particular bit for the menu theme is actually unused music from the Empire Strikes Back, so technically this theme was composed by John Williams.

  • Dash great character!

  • Nostalgia!!!!

  • I remember beating this game the day I went to see Attack of the Clones. Then my aunt hit a dog on the way home. Bitch...my aunt, not the dog

  • the 2nd best theme a star wars game could possibly have!!!

  • @guy962 what's the first

  • @vequense star wars: republic commando

  • @guy962 o ok

  • wait nvm wow it has been like 7 years since i played this game lol

  • hmmm okayy shadows of the empire...it takes place between empire strikes back and return of the jedi...sooo how is Han in this?

  • @iimdudits07 Part of it takes place during Empire Strikes Back, like the first level is on Hoth for example, before Han is frozen.

  • @ApolloVI lol yea i realized directly after i made the comment..

  • It sounds......Adventurous

  • Such a well done game. its unbelievable the ammount of character this game has. Brings back alot of nostalgia

  • I really like this track, and for reasons I don't know, I can actually play my SOTE CD on iTunes on the PC. But this is the only track that doesn't fit, it seems to be grey, and over 40 minutes long. If I ever find a way to get it on, that would be good, but could I ask the official track name, if you know?

  • @Spraggsquatch

just downlaod it off youtube. Go to video2mp3 com thats how i get most of mysongs now. Dont waste your time trying to find the song else where it will never happen.

  • I remember this game as well. It used to creep me out when I was 5.

  • i miss those day, family gatherings at my uncles house and everyone would play this or 007.

  • @killer19903 wow lol pretty much the same experience I had

  • Beautiful memories that we all have. Lets hope it's a resolved nostalgia and not a "I should have completed this on Jedi and seen the ending" type sadness haha!

  • One question concerning the music: Is this an excerpt from the old trilogy or is it composed by Joel McNeely?

  • @DoubleDChris

its from the old trilogy, i wondered well as I find this randomly on the episode 5 soundtrack, its on the second song called "Main Title - The Imperial Probe", listen it ;)

  • the song sounds the most star warsish out of the whole official soundtrack, yet it's not on the disc. After all these years (nearly a decade), I've finally tracked it down.

  • OMG what a classic theme

  • It's hilarious singing the "Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut" song to this theme.

  • This video game brings back the good old days. With nothing to do all summer long back in my child hood, all I had was this and a few other star wars games. This was the best video game I ever had.

  • LOL OMG

  • Even though, lets be honest, it wasn't a very good game, I still have great memories playing it when i was a kid. It properly immersed you into the star wars universe. If only it had been made into a movie, I reckon it would have been better than Jedi.

  • Such a moving and powerful theme. I love this more than the main themes of the films.

  • oh man this brings chills, this music is so eerie yet so cool..i was a little kid and IG-88 used to scare me, well i'm 18 now and he still does.

  • @WampaStomper Haha IG-88 scared the crap out of me too. Ugh I dreaded having to fight him. He was one scary robot.

  • Dash was definitly a cool enough character to warrant a movie adaption of this game. Especially when you read the book, and see how well it translated into a game... It'd make a fantastic film.

  • I remember getting this as my first game for the N64. I was probably like 9 or 10 years old when my dad bought me the console and game for christmas. The game alone was like $80, but damn does this bring back memories. One of my fav games on the N64.

  • Jason Statham, as Dash Rendar

  • @Patim107 Fuck oath, I cummed. YES!

  • They should this game into a movie. All this Star Wars prequel shit is getting to me already. And base the movie around Dash Rendar as the only main hero.

  • @MakeUCum88 I meant to say make this game into a movie.

  • Brings back alot of memories.....

  • This theme was actually written by John Williams. It's an unused cue from The Empire Strikes Back, found on "Main Titles/Ice Planet Hoth" on the soundtrack.

  • @Falor5151

    Agree

  • @Falor5151 I heard part of it when Luke was taken away by the Wampa Ice Creature.

  • @Falor5151 I wonder just what was happening in the scene for which this cue was originally going to be used for in Empire... (was the entire piece going to be played over shots of unconscious Luke getting dragged 30 miles away?)

  • Who's the composer of the game? I'm confused about Joel McNeely's soundtrack. DId he also write music for the game?

  • I believe he did write it. Alot of the music, including this track, is actually edited from Empire Strikes back...but some of the tracks are his. John Williams recommended him....and I think it turned out awesome.

The Force Unleashed, KOTOR, and this game....are the only ones I can think of with independent non-movie star wars music....this happens to be my favorite, but alot of childhood memories attached....loved this game

  • The first game I ever had.

  • Oh wow, i remember this i was very young when i played this. This is very nostalgic.

  • Dash was a-ight ! Loved This Game So Much.....

How bout a new star wars game that isnt the force unleased or a psp battle front game!!!!

  • @NonstopRam

How about a new X-Wing successor?

  • classic i was aout 7 yrs old ahhah now im turing 19 dont take this down please

  • The soundtrack for Shadows of the Empire was such a great mix of music from the Empire Strikes Back and original composition, that and it was one of the greatest games I have ever played.

  • i love how this sounds so menacing like a sith lord is about to force choke you

  • They should make an animated movie out of Shadows of the Empire. With all the original cast reprising their roles.

  • epic win game, epic win theme song

  • Man I loved this game back in the 90's when I was a kid and this music

  • what I wanna know is where i can find the music of shadows of the empire...like, for each level..not the soundtrack, i have the soundtrack..but the echo base level, gall spaceport, and menu theme are some good songs I'd love to listen to on my ps3 while playing killzone 2 or a custom music supported game..I thought the force unleashed soundtrack would have at least 2 of the songs since you do hear the echo base song in the bespin level..but nope...im looking specifically for these three..help?

  • PM me

  • try somthing like: (star wars shadows of the empire game sound track for sale) in the search bar...

  • If they're not from the SOTE OST, they're (excerpts) from TESB OST.

  • @regulatorzone

These are all excerpts from Episode V songs.

  • ahh thank you...downloading empire strikes back soundtrack in 3...2..1..

  • can you give me the menu song plz?

  • This song was made from a loop taken from a section of "main theme and ice planet hoth" at 3.50 in the song.

  • @wotshish

It's actually called Main Theme and Imperial Probe.

  • If you guys miss this game so much, why don't you try Gamedude, it's an awesome place to get games from nintendo 64, super nintendo, etc. Or try eBAY.

  • lol so hollywood has its own toyratt too? check out toyratt...much wider selection, it's retro gaming to the max

  • yep, it's a real good place where it has all these retro games and consoles.

  • I want this on Virtual Console for Wii right the fuck now. Make it happen.

  • read the book. its awesome.

  • yes. it is very good! tfu novel is also awesome!

  • One of the best N64 Games Ever AND I still got this game

  • god this was a classic.

  • omg i miss this game so much!

  • Comment removed

  • Epic

  • Played back then and this theme is still stuck in my head.

  • click favorite.

  • SOTE and Dark Empire are bar none the best expanded universe SW stories.

  • agreed and the thrawn empire heirs of the empire oh so many favorites!!!

  • I remember playing this and was on ort mantell and just de-stroying ig-88 but that garbled noise he made scared the bejeezees outta me lol.

  • Creepy, fits SOTE well.

  • This brings back the good old days, I was about 19.......drinking and gettin nicely stoned playin this awesome game. The immersive soundtrack just pulls you in and some of the levels were fuckin rock hard and massive. Great use of Empires soundtrack too. A great game that screams movie but it'll never happen. The prequels seem even worse after this. One of my greatest gaming experiences ever was Shadows.

  • @mrlavabeast Damn i was a little shit. In 3rd grade fuckin shit up on here.. wish i could have gotten high playin n64 back in those days..

  • @mrlavabeast i feel the same way (minus the drinking and getting stoned part i was 7 when this came out) this probably was the first perfect star wars game ever

  • The game, the novel, the comic..everything about SOTE was epic.

  • this game was epic

  • It was an epic game it was cool as heck.

  • wtf I watched some video's and i found this 1! O.o wtf !

nice memories I whas 4 when i played this :D.

  • where can you buy the soundtrack and if you can, is it still in stores

  • There is an official soundtrack, but apparently this song isn't even on it. Its mostly music from The Empire Strikes Back with a few songs from the actual game.

  • Yeah it's actually an unused cue in the Empire Strikes Back, it's on the soundtrack for that film, but obviously edited to suit what they were doing with this game's menu.

I think it was supposed to play after the shot of Luke being dragged off camera by the Wampa, the part you see the dissolve happen.

  • If I may, what would the track's name be where this cue is heard? I want to recreate this music using that cue.

  • I cant stop listing to the soundtrack.....Why go so far but not even do a real movie...I guess its one of the few expanded universe things that has the feel of the original star wars

  • I agree a truelly 100 percent title this music was still and always is chilling I recently got a new n64 and Ive gotta get like a plugin for it this game (again) then a couple controllers then good to go!

  • too bad my n64 and game dont work anymore :(

  • I am definetly buying the soundtrack

  • not to sound like a dork but my search for this theme is finally over...

  • I love this theme! It's a work of art! It brings back so many memories!

  • OMG I remember trying to enter the cheat codes for this game and I had to hold the controller in a funny way to press certain buttons together lol. First you had to type in Wompa Stompa or something like that :) Ahhhh the nostalgic memories :D

  • This was one of the best games for the n64,even the book was good

  • good old star wars shadows of the empire fantastic game and dash rendar the big unknown i should play this awesome game again

  • This game needs to be remade, I prefer this over the prequels, if only george lucas had the brain to write such a good story, this would have been turned into a movie more focused on the adventure side of the star wars world.

  • I miss this game... especially shooting down stormtroopers off of high ledges and listening to them scream. hilarious.

  • glad to see other people love this hidden jewl. ^_^

  • Couldn't they just make Shadows of the Empire an animated movie with all the old actors voicing their characters? If they can make a Star Wars animated movie, why not this?

  • This game couldn't have been more epic.

    Seriously, classic under-rated game.

It deserves at least a sequel.

  • the sequel is return of the jedi

  • If you're eager to play as Dash during the events of Jedi Outcast, I recommend that you get "Dash Rendar resurgence" for Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

  • Rulez te best

  • EPIC SHIT! THIS IS AWESOME!

  • fuckin' agreed.

  • Epic....

  • This song is actually part of the track "Main Title and the Ice Planet Hoth" from Episode V.

  • Yeah, I remember the that note that you hear, then they don't play this whole song. You never get to hear it, right?

  • Extreeeeeeeeeeme Star Wars feeling, like in the old days.. or I'm 18 now so anyways when I was even younger like 6-10:P

  • Omg I loved this song when I played it first! And I still do! Is there any way that you could upload the songs' mp3? I reaaaaaaaally want it =o

  • yeah this game was the shit I tough they were tryin to re.releasing the game for gamecube as rebel strike man that game sucked ass compared to this game..this theme is good to never herd it in any of the movies or other star wars game..

  • this will become a movie. I promise you that I will make this into a goddamn feature film, If i have to go all the way to skywalker ranch to persuade mr.lucas himself, then so be it...it's a 2-part or 3-part movie..im writing the first part called "star wars: mercenaries" about dash rendar, how he met han solo and lando, it ends with him leaving the tatoonie spaceport after luke arrives, and the next movie will be on this game...the third, I'll have to see what I can make of that.

  • I loved the story line, really good. The music gave it the star wars feel, but giving its own place in the saga.

I remember they had toys and comics for this, really big.

  • Cara vc é brasileiro não é ?

    are you brazilian ?

have you ever played star wars rogue squadron ?

  • This would make a good animated TV series.

  • they should make make a sote movie ...since they made episode 1-3 and clone wars (animated)

why not a dash renda film with weebo and the outrider... that would be awesome

  • i always thought the same. make it cgi and still use the main charactures of the movie as voice actors since many actors sound much the same as they used to.

  • I never thought CGI I thought more of a mature cartoon, like the animation on the cover of the N64 or the animation from the N64 slideshow cut scenes.

  • Or maybe they could do it in the style of the Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight.

  • @mechayamcha hell yeah this as a cgi movie would be way better than the clone wars movie and show

  • Great Classic, Awesome N64's game!

  • I loved this game. Messing around with wampas and then running back into the Millenium Falcon to hide haha. I liked how there was on foot stuff as well as space fights. Talk about back in the day..

  • LOL ! one thing like to do is leave some stormtroopers alive and then let the wampas out and run past the ST and let the wampas kill them.

  • Haha yeah it was good times.

  • This theme creeped me out when I was like 11. I played the shit out of this game though. Me and my friend used to have races to see who could finish Gall Spaceport the fastest. Such a long level lol

  • lol, we raced in that level to save luke, fun as hell but hated it when i landed in that scarlett pit monster.

  • This is one of the first games I ever played on N64, this and Mario Kart 64. I never heard of Dash Rendar in the movies or anything but he rocks. My friend was really into star wars told me that he survives and escapes on an asteroid or something and gets with that cyborg human lady.

  • no dash rendar first appeared in the shadows of the empire novel which the game is based on, the only major difference is in the novel dash isn't a main character. but it is argued weather he survives. if you beat the game on a harder difficulty in the game it shows him faking his death. but in the book it says he dies. a lot of the game is non-canon, such as him fighting boba fett.

  • Dash Rendar was a badass i don't get why he wasn't in any of the movies

  • The movies couldnt contain his awesomeness

  • Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a multimedia project created by Lucasfilm Ltd. in 1996. The original idea was to create an interquel, a story set between the movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (a time no Star Wars novel had explored before), and to explore all commercial possibilities of a full motion picture release, without actually making the film.

  • They've tried to do it again with The Force Unleashed, which sucks IMO.

  • great game! and it still is.

  • man to me, the game was kinda scary thanks to this theme but it was awesome none the less.

  • when i hear this song i remember when i first fired up a N64 back in 1997

  • I'm scouring my house for a copy of my shadows hardcover book.

  • I still have this game. LEGEND

  • whats the name or theme of this song so i can downloaded

  • I love this theme song so much, ahhh the beautiful childhood memories

  • This game made me delve deeper into the star wars universe. The books are amazing, as well as the comics.. you find out so much from it!!

  • one of the best N64 games in my opinion, along with GoldenEye 64.

  • Also NFL Blitz 2000 such a fun game.

  • i love this song! so mysterious

  • I still play this game And I was VERY YOUNG when i played in the battle of Hoth I kept on flying into the ground i was that young!!

  • are there higher quality versions of these songs, outside of N64? I thought I saw stuff on iTunes once.

  • i think you're thinking of shadows of the empire the soundtrack. which is not the soundtrack to the game. although some of the songs are. shadows of the empire was originaly released as a book in 96 then they released a ton of stuff like a game, a comic, a soundtrack, and toys.

  • This really needs to be on the vitural console on the Wii. I miss this game. =(

  • that game over screen scared me, hey mechayamcha could u upload boss battle music i love that music it would be awsome
