challengers are so damn heavy. i went and test drove a blue srt8 that had a 49,000 dollar price tag, i could feel the weight as i accelerated, but those brembo brakes worked well on that car.

Ummm, I've seen videos of the new top of the line Camaro, Mustang, and the Challenger and the Challenger was faster in the straight line, but because it's so much heavier it loses time BAD on turns. So I refuse to believe this is stock top-o-the-line Challenger vs. stock basic Mustang.
Actually its true, while the Challengers way outclass Mustangs in look and feel, the drivetrain of these cars is WAY lacking, it takes an SRT to compete with GTs and SS performance wise and R/Ts are stuck in this lame limbo between V8 and V6 standards

Bullit was the most pathetic attempt at making a "limited" edition Shitstang. The bullit was basically a base mustang with a gt engine in it. Oh and its baby shit green.
The Bullit had a bunch of extra features. Like the working hood intake, better/stiffer suspension, a little more HP, better seats, shifter, etc. It was made to fit in between the GT and the Cobra.
if you really want to race the challenger then buy the drag package its about 1000 lbs lighter and is all motor, the other models weren't built for just speed but comfort as well
Guys...wake up....the Challenger comes from the factory stock doing low 13s in the 1/4 mile, it weighs 4000 lbs...lighten it up and it would kick the mustang, supercharge it and it would really kick it....it was made to do all, like ride, handle, brake, luxury, (and what a mean look)...not just do do a 1/4 mile...it is the best car and thats why it wins all the rating wars.That being said the stangs are a beautiful car also....power can be bought but the hemi is one of the best starting points.

I know plenty about the 05up mustang gt. I own one, i supercharged it along with a slew of other mods you wouldn't understand. I'm not a good driver, but ran mid 13.6@106 with just an intake and tune. Plenty of good drivers have run in the 12's with just that. Get out of your hole sometime.
Am guessing that challenger is stock.cus my 06 rt charger wit miner mods runs between 9.2 an 8.9 at times.

uummm not to bust your bubble. but the mustang has the advantage in weight, and the Challenger is far superior in ALL other aspects.... at least when comparing SRT to GT. Challenger/Charger/Magnum/300 SRT's are pretty nasty and will romp on GT's all day long stock for stock. Props to the Mustang owner, he has modified a GT to make a pretty mean little ride. very nice.

the charger messed up. Stock the Srt8 has 425hp and that year of mustang gt has 260hp...idc what people are saying.. this big of a hp difference is something your not gonna catch up to. The Bullit had a bunch of extra features. Like the working hood intake, better/stiffer suspension, a little more HP, better seats, shifter, etc. It was made to fit in between the GT and the Cobra.

Guys...wake up....the Challenger comes from the factory stock doing low 13s in the 1/4 mile, it weighs 4000 lbs...lighten it up and it would kick the mustang, supercharge it and it would really kick it....it was made to do all, like ride, handle, brake, luxury, (and what a mean look)...not just do do a 1/4 mile...it is the best car and thats why it wins all the rating wars.That being said the stangs are a beautiful car also....power can be bought but the hemi is one of the best starting points.

"bums4u" - I'm not sure who your comment is directed at but I'll answer. Yes, I'm saying that a car with a smaller engine and less HP can win; provided the difference isn't too great. It can easily be made up with less weight. That's basic physics. I'm not sure how the brakes and the suspension factor into a straight line drag, unless they are extremely poor which isn't the case here. The $10K less for the GT can be spent on performance upgrades that will put the SRT8 to shame.

AWD does not slow you down in the long run, ALL of the wheels are providing power equally due to the symmetrical AWD none of the wheels are creating drag like in a FWD or RWD car. I know plenty about the 05up mustang gt. I own one, i supercharged it along with a slew of other mods you wouldn't understand. I'm not a good driver, but ran mid 13.6@106 with just an intake and tune. Plenty of good drivers have run in the 12's with just that. Get out of your hole sometime.
