  • thank you for playing it slow. This actually helps me with my arranging assignment!

  • Great! Let me know how it goes.

    Rick

  • @RagMama123

It turned out pretty awesome actually.. My teacher and class thought it sounded amazing. I did a bluegrass arrangement of the Jazz song Summertime

  • Wow! That's great!

    Rick

  • Hi Rick

Every day I'm more excited about my banjo, and his video class.

I play with you the Ballad of Jed Clampett.

Very effective inclusion of the chords in the video.

I am a long time with you every day.

When you start the class greeted him as if we were sharing a cup of coffee on the coast of Rio de la Plata.

His classes are very good, I sincerely appreciate and thank you very much what you do.

Best regards from Buenos Aires, Jose Luis.

    God bless you, friend.

  • Jose,

Thanks so much for your comments! Maybe one day we will share a cup of coffee (or a beer) on the coast of Rio de la Plata.

    Rick

  • Hi Rick - many thanks for sharing this video with us. It's a great help for the beginners like myself. Great stuff Rick and once again thanks for posting. Cheers Tom

  • Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for the comment. I am really pleased that you found it useful.

    Rick

  • I was playing the Ballad of Jed Clampett along with you in this video. I am so happy that I was in timing with you. :) I played the song exactlyfrom the Earl Scruggs banjo book. Although the arrangements were slight different, I kept in timing with you especially with the melody. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hi Myra,

Excellent! I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for the comment.

    Rick

  • @RagMama123 You're welcome. Myra

  • can any one tell me where to find a tab for this?

  • For tabs of the version that I play here see my website on the "Banjo Tabs" page.

    Rick

  • @RagMama123 thanks I'll be shure to check it out.Great vid by the way!

  • this is just awesome

  • Thanks for the comment.

    Rick

  • Your video is very helpful, but I have no musical knowledge don't get me wrong I can play a few songs, but as far as musical terms I have no idea what you are saying. If it is no trouble could you do a video of this song detaling the order in which you play the chords if it doesn't have any chords just string and fret if it is no problem. Thank you.

  • Hi Cecil,

On my website on the Banjo Tabs page I have the tabs for this song. You will see the chord progression there plus they show the song note for note. I have just completed a lesson on How to Read Tabs if you are unfamiliar with reading them.

    Rick

  • Thank you Rick! That was excellent. You explained everything well. Very helpful. You are an excellent teacher!!

  • Hi John,

Thanks for the comment. I'm working on some more.

    Rick

  • Great job Rick,

Picked up the Banjo again after a few years, these vids definately help to smooth out the rough spots. Very easy to follow.

Do you know of any tabs for "Bringing Mary Home" ? I know its a pretty subjective thing to play, almost all backup. Thanks again.

  • Thanks. I'm glad the lessons are helping. I don't know that song, but I'll look for it and maybe work up an arrangement.

    Rick

  • Hey hollow,

What are you saying? Have you recorded a version I can listen to? Let me know how to get to it. I would love to have a listen.

    Rick

  • Great lesson but I would prefer a better angle or just banjo....can you zoom? Maybe an angle from neck down from head. But it's good! Thanks!

  • Hi Mike,

Good suggestion. I'm looking for ways to get closeups of both hands like the pros do.

    Rick

  • Anyone know who played the banjo on the original session?

  • For the Beverly Hillbillies it was Flatt & Scruggs (Scruggs on banjo) and Jerry Scoggins who sang.

    Rick

  • Rick, I've really enjoyed your lessons on Youtube. I just started taking lessons here in town a month ago and listening to you play while I'm practicing has made a world of difference. Thank you! Bobby

  • Thanks Opal,

    Rick

  • Thanks for the feedback. I'm always interested in how I can make the lessons more useful. I think you are right - more play along time would be good.

    Rick

  • Thanx Rick, for listening. I look forward tp playing with you. Your style is so clean and clear while not being daunting.

    missystu

  • Wow, did you really just use all caps on a word (the internet equivalent to yelling) and tell him to shut up? Wow... real nice. There is a way to give feedback w/out sounding like a jerk -- you should look into that.

  • This Is The Real Way To Play It !

  • Thanks for the kind words.

    Rick

  • Thank-you so much, great lesson, I can do this

  • You can do this! Thanks for the comment. If you have any questions just shoot me an email. Also, you can find tabs on my website.
