  • We do have it! Be course I write it... Only problem is the right persons don't listen to them.

  • Beauty sings and touches hearts. Sara please do your own tour starting in Atlanta, or B-Ham, and sing this song!

  • I became a lifetime fan once I heard this classic...

  • this song is way kool! its got that old classic country sound. of course this was back in the 90's. but still, good song! i love it

  • just listen to this on the country music channel great song

  • i love this song:)

  • You haven't mentioned Sara's last name!

  • It's a great song, she was really genuine before she sold out.

She said the "voice on the radio, sweet and low" part is a reference to George Jones.

At least that's what she told him on his TV show .

  • wow!!! she did an outstanding job on this song lord why did she not stay true country...

  • @bigbobbyt1 Something tells me her record label had something to do with it ...

  • Her first album........produced by Dwight Yoakum's guitarist and recorded in California. Joy Lynn White and Jim Lauderdale on background vocals, Lucinda Williams' band playing back-up. Then she went to Nashville and got hooked into the pop country scene. Ah, if she'd only stayed true country...........I love her voice and rate her up there with Martina McBride and Patty Loveless.

  • don't know why she didn't stay true country

  • I got the cassette single (who remembers those?) of this song for free, I think, and WORE IT OUT, waiting until this album was released. I remember going to the record shop immediately after school, and buying the CD the Tuesday it was released. The album definitely delivered on my expectations. It is solid, and remains one of my all time favorite albums to this day.

  • Isn't "Three chords and the truth" a Johnny Cash quote?

  • Comment removed

  • @devourerofbabies

you are correct, when asked what the meaning of country music was to him, he replied, it's just three chords and the truth.

Later on Harland Howard repeated the quote in front of a Gibson executive and that executive liked the quote so much he had Gibson build Harland a Gibson j200 with only three frets in the cowboy position. .

  • Best song shes ever recorded, hands down!!!

  • An all-time classic. I still think her first album is her best. And the quote from Harlan about "three chords and the truth" being what makes a good country song is just a fantastic idea for a tune.

  • I heard this on WHRB's Hillbilly at Harvard program. These days, you have to go with the bluegrass stations and by-pass Nashville.

    I love this song.

  • wow i didn't know this song was so old......i just heard this one tonight on the radio (Go Country 105 in Los Angeles!! woot woot) and i think i assumed that since i am familiar with the majority of Sara's stuff, this must be a new song because i was NOT familiar with this one. Beautiful!!!!!

  • fine as frog hair!

  • They just don't make em like this anymore

  • Most will not know but after Sara released this single Nashville said she was too country and just that fast her music career almost ended. I remember when I first heard this song. I fell in love with her instantly. She is a great talent and Nashville and bite me.

  • Man, the way she pins those notes with just the right combination of vulnerability and power. Her timbre is incredible. Gives me warm chills.

  • great song she should have stayed country

  • golly geez, slap batman, what a voice, oh yeah and what a beautiful lady. i've not heard this in quite along time, thanks. I think I love this lady, I better check with my wife first, though?

  • I sang this song in a High School Talent show! This is the most heartfelt song I have ever heard! If country music could still be like Sara, Dottie West, Kitty Wells, George and Reba!

  • This is solid Platinum PURE Country music. I wish Country Music was still Country Music.

  • @keefer2111 thanks for sending. Sara has a pure voice and a joy to listen to

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonderfull song ♥.♥ :)))))))

  • I have loved this song from the 1st time I heard it !

  • i love this song sara evans is the best

  • What a fantastic song...why has it been swept under the carpet? Pure emotion streaming from this video...I could listen to this song over and over

  • first time i ever heard a woman sing real country in a long time

  • Wonder why this song wasn't on her greatest hits album?

  • i wish she still sang like this.

  • I requested this song at Sara's fan club party

in 2006 or 2005, but her band didn't know it.

Darn! I was disappointed. This is true

country sung by a fabulous female artist.

I love this song and wish Sara would add it to

    her concert set list.

  • Is it wrong for a bloke to love this song?

I could listen to Sara all day, and never get bored - she's fabulous!

  • It's not wrong for a bloke to listen to this or love this..its Country.

  • @markd3107

Not at all, I love this song!!

  • @markd3107 if it is i dont want to be right!

  • @markd3107 Nope! I listen to this song all the time! :)

  • @markd3107 you aint the only one hoss!..

  • This is true Country.

  • Hi friend, again I agree with you.

    That was absolutely beautiful.

    What a voice and performance.

    5 *s!

  • I miss this song!!

  • real country!!!!!! we dont have that anymore!

  • I agree, they never gave this song a chance.

  • SOOO TRUE!

  • Sara has been my favourite country singer for awhile and in my opinion, this song is one of Sara's best. Her voice is stunning, as are her looks! I prefer some of her older tunes to her more recent work, but new or old, she is great. If you get a chance, check out her version of Imagine That - outstanding!!

  • A wonderful voice. I love Sara, but she has never done anything nearly as good as this. One of my favorite songs of all time. Real country!

  • my God who is sara evans and where has she been?

  • this song is way underrated one of the best country songs ever!

  • I agree. I remember when I first heard this song years ago, In my mind is was awesome. I have few first impressions like that.

  • I still think this is her best song! She is such a great country singer.

  • how can this song be 12yrs old?it should have at least a million views!she s close to Patsy and we d never say that unless she was very SPECIAL!

  • this is the sexiest vid she has ever made

  • i just heard this song for the first time today, on the radio.. i love it!!!!! how have i never heard theis song before??

  • Yes, reminds me of what I call country gold---this is definitely what country should be! Love it..

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, this was her first song!

  • Wasnt this the first song that came out from her?

  • Ms Sara is pure country. She will go down in history as one of the all time greats in country music. Thank you Ms Sara for your music.

  • This is a really good song from her! Nice work Sarah!

  • Deffintly her best song.... shes the most beautiful woman alive..

  • this has got to be one of the best voices in country music today. and sara evans is so so so damn hot (period) love her

  • WOW!!!!! dang this is what country music should be .such a beautiful voice LOVED THIS SONG FROM THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT..

  • Only wish Sara would make more songs like this, seems a long time back when this was released.

Thank God country music a CHOSEN music by the people who love it and not mainstream.

Sara Evans is a RARE find.

  • You said it. I think this is the most genuine country song Sara sings. Too bad she doesn't sing them anymore. She does have a beautiful voice well suited for singing country.

  • Bring it back.......

  • Was this a hit????

  • I have to say that country is not my favourite music, but when I do listen to it, I prefer real country to "today's country" which, for the most part, is just bad pop music with big hair. Give me Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovitt any time. This woman is a bit "twangy" for my taste, but it's a good song with superb musicianship.

  • This song and tell me I was dreaming by travis tritt are what got me hooked on country from heavy metal. Country is awesome!

  • Only one thing I can say about this song..... came in a trying time and MADE me get through it...... God bless SARA

  • I adore this song.

  • this is the best song ever it makes me think of someone special to me everytime i hear it and makes me smile

  • Love the video and the song. Sara Evens as she should be. Great stuff!

  • HER BEST SONG, BY FAR!

  • The Country Radio stations are a racket, there are some great songs just like this one and they never gave it a chance. They feed the public a bunch of BULL SHIT! and they say this is country and you will listen to what we play. This is pure Country, not what the Radio Stations play. I love this.

  • couldn't have said it better. I agree 100%

  • OMG!!!! You have NO idea how happy I am to see this! This was my absolute *favorite* song back then, and I lost that cd years ago. Wow! THIS is what country is all about!

  • yup! this is pure country.

  • This is real country. Not some of the pop music that they say is country nowadays.

  • love this song

  • I love this song, and video!

  • gorgeous lady! One of my favorites from years past. Hope she prospers and is happy with this new husband and step children.

  • Fantastic video and song.

  • This is Sarah Evans doing real country. Thanks for posting.

  • It's been forever since I've seen this video! Thank You so much!!!!

  • this song is amazing! i LOVE it!

  • Uhh! Just plain beauty. I never saw this before. Thanks a lot for posting.

  • u welcome

  • @Telekes , I hear ya... she's amazing.

  • umm so i just realized that three chords and the truth is under the RCA label while all her stuff after is RCA NASHVILLE so maybe since her youtube channel is mannged by RCA Nashville they don't include this...too bad!!

  • I just wish she woulda made a video for "the week that the river raged".....It's on this record.......its a killer song......I would love to see her either perform it live...or as a video!

  • yes!! i love that song!

  • @SerryJaneGrace thats a great song! i have the tape and listen to it often.

  • Its a pitty record produces don't leave a good thing alone.

  • why is this not under her videos on her official youtube channel?? i love this song!

  • i'm not sure but I don't think Sara wants people to know that she done this song... she kinda avoids it alot

  • when i saw her for the first time in march of 07 she sang it...but not when i saw her just in novemeber

  • @tylerhall2 Yeah, this one, and The Cryin Game

  • @tylerhall2

The song was partially written by her ex husband and there is a battle between them and she won't sing it live, by request or re-record. The reasoning behind it is still a mystery, My thought is it may be too painful for her to sing it.

  • @tylerhall2 She avoids this song really? Wonder why? In my opinion,it's her best!

  • @jandkplus8fan27 I'm wondering too. its AWESOME. True down-home country song.

  • @tylerhall2 Good observation. It's a lot more traditional than most of her other music.

  • @tylerhall2 why is one of her best

  • @tylerhall2 That's a shame, cause this is one of my favorites of hers. By far.

  • Classic stuff, thanks for posting. I don't see why this song and the album didn't do better on the charts. Doesn't matter I guess, Sara made it big anyway.

  • This is my favorite song of hers:)

  • BBEST SONG BY HER BY FAR!!!

  • Yes! Great song by a wonderful artist! Thanks for posting it!

  • Lord, I love this song. I heard it the first time when Sara sang it on the great but short-lived George Jones Show. I've never heard her do anything as good as this since then. Thanks for posting it.

  • "too country" what's that?

    I love a southern draw!!

I wish she would go back to it and not try to hide it.

  • Its not a southern drawl. Southern drawls are smooth. its a very strong mountain twang.

  • I live on the mason dixon line. Not a northerner nor a southern guy. But now I know. I love a mountain twang!!! I believe heaven is gonna be a lot like the south, full of sweet people with a twang. lol

  • this is the song that her producers told her was "too country". I think it's the best song she ever recorded.

  • The best Sara Evans song ever. Her voice is just amazing whilst the Harlan Howard's comment that a decent country song is just "three chords and the truth" just makes such a brilliant line for a song.

  • Thank you, I have been waiting for this video!! I love it!

  • you're welcome, I've been waiting for it for about a year and when I finally came across it, I about died. Enjoy!

  • thanks for this video...Sara is AMAZING!

  • i also wanna say thanks. this is the best song i've heard in the last few years. again, thanks.

  • thanks! :) (worked on it...)
