one needs to be on MS amma's level to criticize her.She is such a wonderful person.For a non kannada/tamil speaker like me,she proved that music is universal and divine and why should I look for spelling mistakes when I don't even know or understand the language she sang it in.For me it is enough that I feel drenched from tip to toe,in amritham every time she sings.That love is enough for me,I am a mortal :)) not a God to criticize.

Amma's voice pierces the heart and takes you back to those days when we listened to her suprabhatam on radio.Such a sweet mother.

Many folks here are talking about Kannada pronunciation. I see mostly Sanskrit words and very few Kannada words in Purandara Dasa songs. If one has to sing Hindu Gods, Sanskrit is vital and hence mentioning Tamil/telugu/kannada pronunciation does not make much sense.

I very much respect MS Mam, but her pronunciation of Sanskrit (even Kannada / Telugu pronunciation is the "same") letters is always not correct.....maybe its because of the classical way of singing in a Raga..... but the words cannot be understood.....

I am not criticizing her talent & bhakti in any way !...... even this is a mistake....which i am doing....may God forgive me !

Nice to listen to a Tamilian Singer render Purandara Dasa's kannada composition. Truly, music knows no language barrier. In particular the phrase "magugala manikyanana.." has been rendered soulfully.

m.s.s amma is from the gods when suprabhatham is sung everyday at the balaji temple.we dont want to see the language .whether she sings thyagarajas or krishnas or aliveni. m.s.s amma is again divine and nothing else. she led a simple life. did not portray herself to be someone. and we willl be reminded .this is from the united nations and not the oscars

the song describes how yashodha plays with her kid krishna. Most of the charanams of the composition describe krishna in different ways. For example, the first sentence describes krishna as "jagadhodhara" (one who causes good to the world).

This is the song I was looking for in vedio,

When I was at US Univ in late 70s a son of UN represntative told me that his father and many UN international members considered this as the best at UN concert. Thanks to Sri Puradara Daasa for founding Karnataka music and composing krtitis. Great performance by MSS. I have heard her cassette many many times. I had heard Sri Mysore Raj Iyengar of Haasana introduced this Kriti to MSS.
