  • I have the Kala spruce/lacewood on its way today or tomorrow so this was really helpful and great to hear so much love for the kala, ironically the Koa uke was a Kamaka which is worth 3 or 4 times what the other two are....lol :-)

  • Ok, turned the volumed down a bit and listened again. The lacewood sounds like butter :)

  • Ouch! Tile floors and a 20 foot ceiling?!

  • I think Mahogony sounds kind of whiny and twingy. At the same time I think Spruce sounds almost like jello haha if it had a sounds. Kind of muddy sort of sounding. I think the koa is a pretty good balance of both

  • Wow!.. Is good to know,... Thanks

  • I just bought the Kala Lacewood and was happy to find out that I too liked that the best of the three compared...

  • Is it me or the spruce tops ukes sound better

  • Very nice ukes, I actually own the Anuenue Papa III Tenor.. it plays really well and stays in tune well also, thanks in large part to the grover tuners. I picked it mainly because there's a very limited selection of ukes sold in Taiwan. I like the sound of the Kala the best by far.. maybe because I'm also a guitarist and I've always had spruce tops. Anyway, thanks for the comparison!

  • Mahalo for making the comparison!

  • nice ukes
