@jonahb19 Many thanks for your comments regarding mine..It would appear that my views are as outnumbered as they are outdated. However,I'm just too old and dyed-in-the-wool to change my outlook on this. 50 years ago,when l first took an interest in the genre the difference between styles was an accepted fact,at least amongst the circles l moved in then. Perhaps,over the years there has indeed been changes as to what now defines blues from boogie. You give me food for thought. My regards to you.

@crankbv1 I think the definition of blues, like jazz, is more inclusive rather than exclusive. Music can be blues even if it doesn't exactly match the textbook definition. For example, many musicologists include 8, 12, or 16 bar structures as a key element in the definition of the blues - if that's a requirement to be blues, then players like John Lee Hooker aren't blues musicians. Since there is a song style called "slow blues" it suggests that there's room for fast blues in the definition.
