Wish I could find this movie on DVD - I've seen some DVD's for it on the internet but you never know what kind of audio/visual quality you could get when you buy one of those "hard to find movies". Sometimes the picture quality can be awfully grainy, like a third generation VHS copy - If I could find a nice copy of this movie I would buy it.
I will never forget the night my sister, who was an avid fan of Richard Chamberlain. She was watching i think it was Larry King? Where he admitted he was gay. She ran screaming through the house. "TURN ON THE TV, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT". We thought some disaster had happened! LOL She recovered and still watches the Thornbirds, and records she had.
thanks so much Jettie for posting all these videos ! you make my day feel delightful!
Joy in the morning is not available on the net, even on Amazon or priceminister...could you upload it if you have it, if that does not mind for you of course!
thanks very much for your beautiful work on that so beautiful man...
I loved this movie and became addicted to both. Yvette and Richard were awesome pair and I wished then that they become an item but it never happened and then learned that richard is gay. Yvette appeared in other movies and got married and never heard since then. Richard sang the theme song of Joy in the morning.
I remember Yvette in the episode of Dr. Kildare called 'Tiger, Tiger'. She and Dr. Kildare were so much in love; but alas, she dies. I think he sang 'Hi Lili, Hi Lo' in the episode. A gf of mine had his first LP and we would listen to it over and over. What a wonder talent Richard is. I hope his touring production of Spamalot (he plays King Arthur) comes to Boston this spring.
Don't know how unfortunate it is. that is just his sexual preference .Probably disappointed many a female fan when they found out. He kept his private life private for a long time
Jettie, thank you very much everything, a lot of video clipp, what you doing about from RC, bc I did never listen he singing, and his voice is beautiful!! Of course he is wonderful man and very sweet presen day too, he is amazing actor.I'm very sad bc he not singing now. Yours videoclipp much gift to me, thanks again.
Richard Chamberlain- when at MGM- received as much fan mail they say as when Clark Gable was King of the Lot. So MGM used to cast Chamberlain to capitalize on his fame in MGM films on his hiatus from "Dr. Kildare" and this film co stars another MGM contractee lovely Yvette Mimieux. "Joy" is a fine film a rememberance of a time past when life was perhaps less hectic and strident as it is today. I like this film to see the many sets used in the film from the Old MGM backlot, long since sold off.
by chance, do you have the movie that could be posted??? I read the book so many years ago, and I must say, I was only about 12 when I read it, it was my first naughty book.. LOL.. but I would love to see the movie...
The beautiful Yvette Mimieux and Richard Chamerlain were MGM stars when MGM was creating a stock company of young stars. The others were George Peppard, Paula Prentiss, Jim Hutton, George Hamilton.
This romantic drama was MGM's way of showcasing two of its very fine young players, and was moderately successful at the box office. At the height of his fame, Chamberlain received more fan mail than the greatest of all MGM male stars Clark Gable.
I remember seeing this movie on TCM in the 90's I haven't seen the movie I love this movie since its such a nice innocent movie about two innocent young people in love and warring parents. My favourite scene is when she had a her hair cut and he is aghast and says my favourite line "What have you done to your hair!" just has me in fits of laughter great movie.
One of my absolute favorite movies...because of this beautiful man!!! I LOVE Richard Chamberlain in anything, let's face it. What a soothing singing voice. I could go to sleep every night listening to him. I wish he had more recordings. I actually have 2 LP's from way back!!
Sorry for the double posting.

Yes; Yvette truly is a very lovely lady-And she has made far outreaching accomplishments beyond acting.
She produced a movie herself entitled, "Hitlady"! She was quite effective! And pretty as a Femme Fatale-!

Thank- you for this. It's one of my most fav old songs. Richard had such a lovely voice. I had this on LP in the 60's but lost it some yrs ago.

Wow! Yvette Mimieux was such a delicately beautiful creature. And Richard Chamberlain was a pretty good vocalist in a John Davidson kind of way.
