  • I too had the ICD placed in me back in 2009 when I was 39 & I have to say that I haven't been shocked yet thank goodness.

I suffer from an enlarged LFT ventricle & severe Cardiomyapathy of the Mitral Valve, ugh. I was NOT compliant with meds & this caused the enlargement. Hang in "there" and keep living your life as normally as you can. I used to get depressed over having this device but I also thank the Good Lord above that I have been given a second chance.

I wish Long Life to us ALL ))))

  • Hi Emily, I had my ICD fitted about 3 weeks ago and I'm only 19, so don't worry you're not the only youngster to have it! Albeit I have a slightly different condition but the unit is the same. It's good to see you're doing well, you couldn't have put it better I don't think, I know exactly how you felt! Anyway I hope you continue to feel well and it would be great to see another follow up video if you can! All the best, Dan.

  • Hi Emily,I had my ICD fitted in June 2007 as I suffer from Severe Dilated Cardiomypathy, which is An enlarge heart, this is inherited from my Mums side as my Younger Sister (aged 21) and Brother (Aged 32)also suffer the same condition.

I am 37 now, and was diagnosed when I was only 16, but had an Heart Attack last year (May).

Mine has gone off once since but you rarley even notice, apart from a tingly effect across your chest.

You will live a normal life sweetheart and will forget its even there

  • hi emily hope you are well my i.c.d. went off on tuesday 3rd it works great, would like to see a new video just to see how things are with you . . .

  • Hang in there young lady...my ICD saved my life when I went into tachycardia while driving down the street! My heart was grossly enlarged too, reason was Conn Syndrome which is tough to diagnose. All the best to you!
