@MegaKegHead I am sure the Apple store won't load it onto a flash drive for you. I am not sure you could run off a thumb drive either. There may be a way, but I am not currently aware of how you would do that.
@inacentaur unfortunately I don't. It has become easier to do now too. Check the dell forums for instructions as that is where I got these instructions. If I come across another dell mini 9 I will plan to do an updated guide.
@zollotech been at the dell mini forums - tried every single method there and got none to work :-(... most of them mention the usage of 10.5.x or 10.6.2, so my only guess is that it's due to 10.6.3. i have the 10.6.3 retail, 2 usb's, and even an external usb (as required by failed another method i tried). any help appreciated!
if it is running osX from the first day you boot it up it will not get viruses but if you are using it and have gotten viruses while running windows you will need protection.. but no it wont get viruses while running mac osx
Get "Parted Magic" (google it) and get an iso cd burner. When you have the iso, burn it to a dvd. When it's burned to a disc, put the disc in (when you're logged into windows) then restart, and it should load if your bios is set up right! Then use the partition editor to shrink your xp partition to the minimum, and create a new partition and use all the available space. When you install os x, select the new partition and it should dual boot! This might work simalar on a usb stick if u find a tut
im thinking bout gettin' a acer aspire one netbook and i was wonderin' which build wud b best that allows updatin' and i wont have too much trouble with drivers... can anyone help?
this install only works this way on the dell netbooks. I am not sure what is involved with the aspire. You should check some place like anandtech for a comparison of ease of installation
To my understanding it is a gray area. The disk I used is legal , but supposedly Apple says you cannot install it on non-Mac hardware. I believe this is being debated due to some companies selling their own hardware with OSX on it. However, this video was to show how and the rest of it is up to you.
if apple allows there apple owners to install windows on there osx then they should be bitching about us messing with there os on a non-apple computer so no its not illegal.
If i do this will i be able to do the updates and things like that?

Hi!
I found a service online that will put osx 10.6 on a thumb drive.
Any thoughts?
MegaKegHead 1 year ago
@MegaKegHead do they use your disc or just install it? You should own a licensed copy if you do this.
zollotech 1 year ago
@zollotech why should it be licensed?

There is a faster way to get osx. Close you computer, run to the closest apple store, steal a showmodel macbook, and there you go. should work fine!

i currently have windows 7 ultimate(first) and dualed w/ubuntu netbook remix(second)
i have 8g flashdrive and a 250g external usb hardrive.
im ready to do work

@gerbilplay4
These machines don't have optical diskdrives by default.
Syslinux is by far the easiest to burn a disk-image (iso) onto a USB thumbdrive.
