  • ...Pakistan needs highly educated and qualified people to identify the problems of the society before they embark the journey to fix the problem. And yes I agree with the anchor, Pakistani media merely sells its shows by telling people what they want to hear, Unfortunately they themselves don't know what actually is the problem in the society.

  • ....not very throng language as it is not a language of its own. It is comprised of words borrowed from many languages. Why don't you first evolve a complete full language before offering a PhD in urdu.....

  • I'd wanna say to Mr. Chair of PFRI, the problem of the society is not what you describe, the problem is that you don't even know what the problem is. And this in my view breeds another problem of its kind, that is, "Pseudo Intellectualism". The guy who is just talking about english language, he doesn't know that modern scientific revolution started in16th century in english language with Francis Bacon followed by all the enlightenment era of John Locke in 17th century. Urdu language in itself is

  • I thought Orya's argument about language was getting weak, but then by coincidence i landed on Lee Kuan Yew's short comment about India and its language problem versus China...

This video completely confirms the rationality of Orya's argument about language..And coming from Lee Kuan, who was someone who practically built a nation and lead it to glory, it carries a lot of weight..Singapore is a very advanced welfare state..

  • @nilo723 Orya has a point about language. However, in a multi ethnic country like Pakistan which language should be promoted ? Surely, should Punjabis, Pashtuns, Sindhis be forced to learn in Urdu ?

  • @smodass They are already being forced to learn English and they aren't really doing a good job..

Once you agree in principle, that a local language should be the medium of education like in all European countries, then these issues are to be dealt with ease..

Regardless of which language is used, it should be widely understood in the country..And Urdu can be the most appropriate choice..And it can certainly inherit all sorts of words from other languages too..

  • @nilo723 With language comes identity, and if Urdu becomes the medium of education, then regional languages will decline. I like the Canadian model, where French is promoted along with English. Even in English Provinces of Canada the government makes provisions for French medium schools. Thus a French Canadian living in Vancouver can still educate his kids in French.

  • @smodass So who is stopping local people from studying their own languages? Pashtun kids can most certainly be taught Pashto too, Sindhi kids be taught their own language by local teachers..

But one local language should be common throughout the country..In Iran it is Farsi, in Afghanistan it would be Pashto and in Pakistan it would be Urdu..
