  • Chargers are the best car ever made! My dad got a vj charger it's awesome, please check out my video :)

  • My late father owned several Valiants (the sedan, not the charger), and i have to say, Chrysler six cyliner engines were absolutely bullet proof, not to mention very smooth and powerful. It's a shame Chrysler stopped making cars in Australia.

  • @InspectorMontelbano1 I got one. Valiant 1975 VJ Charger. ;)

  • @LordAkira Lucky you, like I said before, Chrysler Australia made some awesome six cylinder engines, and yes, I liked the 1975 Valiant Charger, a very nice car.

  • I used to own a charger what a great car it was too. the girls loved it how cool were them days

  • I had heard of the "Hey Charger!" campaign in the States for years, but this is the first commercial I've ever seen for the Aussie Valiant Charger (the American car was much larger and called DODGE Charger). The background music sounded familiar when I heard it, and I then realized that the American Chrysler-Plymouth commercials of 1971 and 1972 used the same tune...so Chrysler was brand-engineering on a world-wide scale even 40 years ago! Great fun, mates...

  • @bongomanfromdalou Yep, unfortunately they didnt sell enough and eventually Chrysler sold their Aussie interests to Mitsubishi in the early 80's i think.

  • @bongomanfromdalou i think they should have stuck with dodge rather than Valiant they would have sold more

as a kid we called them wog chariots- most blokes driving them had bryl creamed hair fake gold necklaces and the top 2 buttons on there shirt was undone exposing there chest carpet

  • me and my mates used to steal chargers strip em for parts great way to make cash.

  • wow they were cheap in the day

  • I had a 770 1971 Charger with a 318 Fireball Motor. Great Car!

  • I remember a few years ago we tried the "Hey Charger" salute to a daggy scrawny country gardener with a long beard as he drove by. It was a scream. He probably had never seen the ads and had no idea what we were on about.

  • what was that year i love the 1966 dodge charger my dad hade one with a 383magnum

  • The year was 1971. These were VH series Valiants with an inline Hemi 6 and new body styles that were never used in USA.

  • Oh wow - I remember that add.

  • valient charger was sooo close to being a big hit in aus

  • HEY, CHEEAAGEAHHH!

  • Hey what a rust bucket I love the CM Chrysler but the Charger sorry no way.

  • all those makes from the 60's and 70's were rust buckets

  • LeoBullTerrier, your muim is a rust bucket

  • Al Bundy Car....If they sold these in America

  • Aussie cars were pretty close to american ones.

  • Yep.

  • Yep what, retard? What are you talking about?

    Prick.

  • they were ?which aussie cars?

  • The aussies had versions of american cars like the ford torino.

  • memories of giving the charger V to any charger we saw on the bus on the way to the pool during primary school

  • They made this in the soon to be closed down home of Mitsubishi 380.

  • from $2795........wow.

  • OMG thank you for adding this. As a youngster I used to give the big V to any Charger I seen on the road. The days of the Aussie muscle cars are sadly missed by me :(

  • for the ones who rode chapel st , stayed true to pure aussie muscle..i salute you

  • i love this but it would be good to get it with the bert neuton voice over

  • lmao still thats funny

  • Ive had chargers all my life. this add was the pits. wankers still insist on going hey charger when ever they can.

  • you should consider it a complment when the wankers go "hey Charger" if I still had my old ex cop VJ and someone went "hey Charger" i would think it would be cool.

  • had my first charger in 1977 I was 17 and far too cool to be "hey chargered"

  • This American loves Aussie Mopars!!

  • And this Aussie loves American Mopars!

  • Wow, the song on this commercial is the song "Chrysler Plymouth, coming thru" which was used in the 60's, who knew that they used that song/jingle for in other countrys. I didn't think they sold Plymouths outside the US. The Charger was a Dodge in the USA and they did use the "Hey Charger" theme too here for the bigger car.

  • As soon as I watched this ad and heard that jingle it hit me "Chrysler Plymouth Coming Thru...OO..OO" Went to post a comment and OsbornTramain beat me to it!

  • Hey what a rust bucket latter in life.

  • Hey Chag ah!

  • Hey Charger!

  • Do you know some guy in USA is selling a mint Chrysler Charger V8 from 1972 for almost 30 000 US$. Hold on to ya Aussie Valiants obviously the Mopar collectors interest is raising (At last)

  • thanks for posting!!

  • Very cool! Nice to see a bit of classic Aussie motoring :)

  • Story goes that - in the first Charger ad - all the cameras were set up, and they were ready to roll when someone noticed that the driver was missing his index finger... Imagine what it would have looked like when he tried to give the "V" sign...

  • In Australia this was the forerunner to todays Crossfire

  • Um, no it wasn't.

  • yes, that was a strange comment. funny though.

  • The Aussie Chargers weren't reskinned Mercedes coupes with Chrysler badges on them, so I don't know what he's talking about.

  • From the TV special "Oz TV's Greatest Commercials".
