hi i was wondering if anyone knew a website of some sort that had military documents or files of Guadalcanal because my grandfather was in the 1st marine division on Guadalcanal and he says that he was in M company so if anyone could help me out with this i would be very thankful and im sure he would like to see some of his old documents to
the newzealanders served there also . there is a small village right near bloody ridge today where the new zralanders were camped. they were right in the thick of one of the most bloody battles of the pacific war.
@Greenhornet270 i can tell from your name that your like 15. unless you went into a time machine 70 years into the future and said this. your story smells like shit.
@masterchieffan20 Basilone wasn't at the Tenaru fight in August . He won his medal in October in the battlle for Henderson Field. Al Schmidt did the work at Tenaru which cost him his sight. The bodies shown were at the sand bar after the Tenaru battle. Actually it was the Ilu riv. so the fight was misnamed but it has stuck as thr Tenaru.
Would love to visit Gaudalcanal some day. Reading a book by Richard Franks on the campaign and have watched Tin Red Line which was filmed in the Solomons and Gaudalcanal.
