@Gb755c They don't lock, they just shut. It keeps the fire from spreading. You can still use the door. What happens is when the alarm is normal, a magnetic pulse is sent to these little plates that the door can latch on to. When an alarm is received, the magnetic pulse is cut, allowing the door to shut.
Why would they want a door to "lock" when the fire alarms sound? I thought the opposite was required.
