  • that guy has awesome pants

  • besame mucho nice

  • I visited Paris and Rome a few years back and absolutely LOVED the Gypsy musicians and dancers performing in the subways. They are one of my favorite memories of the trip. Not once were they rude, they did not try to steal, and they never made me feel unsafe or uncomfortable. At least they are doing some type of work rather than asking for a handout for free, and they bring beauty into the world in the form of music. My only regret is I did not find a CD with their music as a souvenir!

  • Normally one should be able to choose the kind of music he/she wants to listen to. This is a kind of auditive and psychological RAPE, and should be punished (the same reasons are for the fines you get if you disturb your neighbours with your party)! There is a huge difference from playing into a market-place where there are hundreeds of escapes. A policeman should watch and if they see public indiference should forbid them and if people leave should fine the band !

  • It the same thing in London Underground.

But, yes, maybe people could be more nice with the musicians

  • I heard about 100 versions of this song in Paris...accompanied by guitar, flute, accordeon, karaoke machine..:))

  • i like this kind of music, ..kind of laid back and infectious tune

  • the french are extremely serious to begin with; & gypsies try to rob you everywhere

  • That's not the nicest generalization you could make. I'd call it racist, but Gypsy isn't the name of a single ethnic group.

There's a chance anywhere you go that you might have something stolen. Paris especially is famous for its pickpockets. That doesn't mean that its the Roma that are doing it.

  • Being part French and having a French family & travelling to France often, I can say 1) majority of the French are serious, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, in constrast I find it more distinguishing then loud mouths.

Secondly I was actually robbed and assualted by a music player on the Subway in France, who threw me down and wouldn't let me leave until I payed him money.

And it doesn't matter where the robbery is going on, it's still wrong either way you look at it.

  • There's nothing wrong with being serious; that wasn't what I was getting at. Nor did I say that everyone in the whole world is nice and kind. And yes, robbery is not good.

It was just the generalization you made that I was complaining about. Once you were assaulted and robbed. The one who did it might not have been Roma, and even if that one person was, isn't it a little harsh to condem an entire ethnic group based on one person?

  • no wonder gashe hate rom so much in other countries i would hate them too!

  • cool

  • Wait, you videotaped them without placing any money in their jar? That's not cool.

  • LOL Cranky Parisians. Nice music. I was once on a train in NYC and a guy started playing the bagpipes. Normally, New Yorkers do not really mind subway musicians, but there are some instruments that are just inappropriate and painful to the ears in an enclosed environment.

  • coool

  • Paris metro passengers aren't impressed. They could blow their lips off and nobody would care! It's a cruel world in the underground, but then, it is only for getting to where you're going, not an entertainment venue. No?

  • there r hundreds of them. the bigest stress in paris undeground....
