  • Very impressive!

  • how electric? if he was paddling

  • that is exactly the point. you pedal and combine with the help of electric motor, you now can go for very good distance. This video was made 2006, using older technology. With today Lithium battery we can go for 300km in range in a day.

  • Many Canadain department stores are carrying hybrid electic bikes by Schwinn. I wonder if any of these are worth of aerodynamic modifications like wrapping or recumbent modifcations? For $500 you can beat any carbon-aero-upright bike costing thousands. What an insane industry!

  • WildBlue2 thanks for the comment, that is a day and night comparison with Canadian tire product. The video was back in 2006, we were only able travel 150km on single charge. Today with lithium battery we can travel 300km on single charge with the same weight. We just have customer drop off Canadian tire schwinn to be convert from a cheap electric component to much better components.

  • it's funny how the facts get fudged between two different news reports, the second just calls it an "electric bike" that can sustain "35 km/hr". Many cyclists can sustain that over a commuting distance. I'm guessing 50km average in the first report is the real number?

  • Oh my - my wife and I own the same CCM Evox's you're riding . Is that a Mueller windwrap on the front of the bike and where did you buy the windscreen ? In Calgary ? Great idea .. Thanks .

  • That is the windwrap. I ordered directly from EasyRacer There are only a few bike shop carry Recumbent bike. So for accessories like Windwrap, none of bike shop carry them. Recumbent are comfortable, but limited market.

  • Thanks "powerinmotion " . I'll contact Easy Racer then ..

  • Were your NiMH packs made up of D-cells? Specs I find show a continual current draw rate of 1C. Is that wrong? Trying to Source materials for an inexpensive pack, but am getting hung up on that 1C rate.

  • It was a F-cell NiMh pack 48v, 14Ah. It was rated as 2C, it can handle 30Amp load. We ran two batteries pack in parallel, which makes the pack at 48v, 28Ah, able to handle the 60amp load.

We are moving toward to Lithium battery. For the same weight we can make a 300km or 186 mile trip on a single charge. In other word, we can travel a great distance with minimal fuel cost.

If you wish to discuss your requirement, send us email.

  • Nice vid! I can't do a whole lot more than 40 kms in 3 hours... I need to know 1 thing: how long would a lead acid battery last? And, once it stops working for good, how much would a new one cost? Since its 'lead acid', could i change it for a normal battery meant for cars or motorcycles?

  • We did not use lead acid battery and it would be too heavy for this application. We used dual Nickel-metal 48v, 14Ah battery pack. The cost of each battery was $460 CAD without charger. But if we do this again, we will be using Lithium Polymer battery that would give us range of 300km on a single charge.

  • I got a miini reactor from a scrapped russian sub and coupled it to a turbine on my bike. now i do banff- calgary in 45min for 7cts and when i get home i hookup the reactor to my house and run all the appliances for next to nothing. face it people the future is NUCLEAR, (so bright i gotta ware shades).

  • interesting comment, can you share your video about your mini reactor?

  • Ha ha, nice comment, bullshit of course. What sucker is going to believe you? A Russian nuclear reactor is bound to be the size of a friggin' house such is the Ruskies expertise at compactness...

  • Peddle your cynicism elsewhere BOZO..

  • ahem , dont have to pay for parkin, yea just wait

  • it was going at 34 mile/h. Please watch "Super Bike behind the scene" from youtube . And you can see the actual run from behind.

    /watch?v=q_SlrGnxKpM

  • i swear their going faster than the 20 mile per hour limit of Bionx. How so?

  • Great idea !!!! I hope its the future, if only people will get wise.

  • If you look at the present day and look at history you will see the masses of people never get wise. Its only needed for the wise to get active and live NOW. dont expect anyone to follow you.

  • Can you share what project you are going to do?

  • tnx for this video! You helped me do my project! I LOVE YOU WHOEVER POST THIS!
