I too am a great fan--the group is my all time favorite vocal group. And Cass Elliot of one of my all time favorite female singers. However, 'New World Coming" was released by Elliot as a solo sometime in the early 1970's. She died in the summer of 1974, and I had the 45rpm version. So, I imagine somewhere around 1973 or 1974 was when the record was released. That is why you did not hear it on any albums recorded by the entire group.

Mama Cass--what a loss. This is one of my favorites despite the fact that the song naively yearns for utopia, that mindset that was typical of that generation and continues today.
