  • George was rescued from an island in the galapagos when goats(brought in carelessly) had wiped out his species. He was the ONLY survivor found. The goats were exterminated and plant life is returning to normal and now they're working hard to find a suitable mate for George, one of the same species. A $10,000 reward is being offered for anyone that can find George a suitable mate.

  • He is not a saddleback, HE IS A PINTA ISLAND

  • the tortoise is gay!

  • wow. good luck w/ that, George

  • oh no only one galapagos tortise

  • Were the islanders native? Or did they move from somewhere to this island? Cuz if they invaded teh island then the fishermans r the bad guys. And they are then assholes.

  • @MIIBB im certain the islanders were definitely not native and yes, they are fucking assholes.

  • I just got back from the Galapagos islands today i saw him he made me sad =[

  • wow... talk about the 90 year old virgin:P

  • give george some viagra and then bring in the ladies...has anybody thought of that????

  • @TheSamurai01 He has 2 females in his cage he is the last of his kind.

  • lonesome george is probably the chillest tortoise ive ever seen.

  • what if George is sterile lol he is 80 + right lol

  • Actually, "Lonesome George" may not be the only one of his kind, as scientists may have found a living Saddleback Galapagos Tortoise named "Tony" living in a zoo in Prague, so there may also be a female tortoise, maybe more, somewhere on another island somewhere (hopefully).

  • does it chomp?

  • oh yea and btw hes 90 not 80

  • We do not know that. We BELIEVE he is somewhere between 60 - 80 years old, we do not know for certain. However, from his physical condition, the researchers have deducted that he is probably older than people say.

  • 3ala fikra i watched this show and they said that they found another female of his kind but they r not sure if theyr from the same species :( its so sad

  • Why don´t they try mating Lonesome George with a teenage muntant ninja turtle?

Of course, they will not reproduce ...

But it may be fun as hell!

    rofl

  • Put these men in jail ...

  • Thats so sad :(

  • so sad.Imagine that you are last human:-(

  • I would have a blast raiding every pharmacy and liquor store.

  • It's easier for us to mate

  • And your point being ? ...

  • george got a hand job from a female scientist....lucky guy!!

  • lolz

  • *Tortoise xD

  • @jsaulgodoy haha lol

  • aajajajajajjaaj yo si le entiendo todo

al señor y ustedes no jejeje.

  • becasuse of ignorant deuces like you say they are

  • THOSE ASSHOLES!!! FUCK THE FISHERMAN, IF THEY THINK ITS OK TO THREATEN A POOR SWEET LONELY TORTOISE!!! o and that british guy is kinda cute

  • Poor George. =(

  • Go Lonesome George go get them those gorgeous girls and make more babies lol

  • The poor thing looks said, the dumb jackasses don't kill him! X0

  • What the !@#% thay wanted to kill a galapagos tortoise they are all ready endangerd why make them eny more endangered !@#%ing Barstereds

  • how can they even think about hurting poor george!!! bastards!

  • wtf why can't they just do the clone thing

  • They threatened Lonesome goerge... Thats so cold! D:

Also maybe he doesnt want to mate cause theres too many people?

  • Thosand years later i meant to say ..**

  • well what would our childrens says about thousand years ago? if Pinta Tortoise dies out they probally hates us when we just sit here and doing nothing

  • is he really last of his kind?

  • Poor George, he's probably to old to mate

  • He looks so sad.

  • Whoa.. You need to be a scientist to jack off a giant turtle.

  • I hopp It works, but they can always take some blood and make some georges in the future

  • just a fucking question :D

if he is the last one of hes kind, the females are not from the exact same species as him, right?

so what they are making is a hybrid right?

I I keep asking me that question everytime I see that animal

  • You're right, they try to pair George with species from a nearly equal kind. Didn't work out yet...

  • lucky turtle, got a hand job from a swiss chick, niceeeeee

  • I like how they thought using a female woman would turn him on.

  • you call human explorers hunting down endangered species "nature cycle"? You make me sick

  • They should try mating him with a teenage mutant ninja turtle ... they wont reproduce but it may turn out to be fun as hell!!

  • I think Leo, Mikey, and Raph would be against it. Don is the most likely out of the four, IMO, but I hear he only does machines.

  • MATE YOU STUPID TORTOISE!!!!!!! why does he reject the females my tortoise wouldnt!!! although hes only about 4 or 5

  • you have a galapagos? Wow, where did you buy him (sarcasm). You and your tortoise don't know what you're talking about. This species is very different and difficult to breed.

  • Why is there even a single person living on the Galapagos islands? Leave it alone!

  • native people who have lived there there whole lives.... they have a right the scientists dont

  • Living somewhere your whole life doesn't give you a right to fuck up an ecosystem.

  • i would fuck him just to save his species

  • Give the guy some space I say. Couldn't believe that visitors are allowed to walk right through his enclosure, all day, every day. If all you heard in your ear all the time was 'Gee honey, look it's George', and kids running round shouting, the last thing you'd want to do was procreate the species...

  • @Merlin1surf Actually, I was just there this summer. People aren't allowed in his enclosure. You can see him from a distance, but you can't actually go anywhere close to him. Some of the other tortoises you can go up to, but George and the two females are closed in.

  • he did in June through august he had 11 new baby eggs

    woot wooot go George's

  • actually, jsut four, and they arent purebreds so, not as good as I hoped.

  • On July 21 2008, it was reported that George had unexpectedly mated with one of his female companions. A total of thirteen eggs were collected and placed in incubators. However, on November 11 2008, The Charles Darwin Research Center reported that 80% of the eggs showed weight loss characteristic of being infertile To the disappointment of the Darwin Center, by December 2008 the remaining eggs had failed to hatch and x-rays had showed them to be infertile

  • awh thats sad i hope that he produces more.

  • its like there are thousands of other ones hiding

  • id laugh if he ws pregnant jk

  • maybe george is gay jk

  • those sharp knees must be making George sick!

  • wait.. thats the last male ?

  • not of all giant tortoises, just of his sub species

  • its still bad news right ?

  • yes, very bad news, he is lonesome george, the (possible) last of the pinta island tortoises. they are trying to find his parents.

  • i'm the last of my kind too but it's not a sad story

  • Easy there on throwing around "moron," lest you want to be considered one yourself... the host PROPERLY titled it "Equator" b/c the name of the BBC Two Series in which this video was shown was a series known as "Equator" - a 25,000 mile journey around the world, following, you guessed it, the equator.

  • i know, so anoying eh

  • pwnd

  • Until the Ecuadorian Gov't limits the human population in Galapagos, there can be no hope for the long-term future of park. The animals will die, or the people will starve. They almost created a sustainable ecotourism economy, but money comes faster from fishing and so the illiterate 'win' but their children will have nothing.

  • Yay First! Galapagos Islands are a treasure trove of wildlife species. Lonesome George's story is interesting.
