@peterkar Well, yes and no. She does have a microphone wrapped around her head, but if she did not have that microphone, she might be drowned out by the choir. However, she definitely has a powerful voice. She gives concerts in which she sings songs that require power and range. She has also done singing roles on Broadway and has won two Tony awards, one for Carousel and one for Master Class, in which she was required to sing operatic arias.

@ChicagoSouthDan Gotta keep up, baby; Miss Audra's won four Tony Awards now (the other two for RAGTIME and RAISIN IN THE SUN; many think she should have won in 2000 as well, for MARIE CHRISTINE, or in 2007, for 110 IN THE SHADE, for both of which she got nominated). I've heard her with and without a microphone--both wonderful!

Right now you can see her in NYC in the Shakespeare in the Park production of the Twelfth Night (throgh July 12). If you want to be kept informed of her appearances, just set up a Google Alert, that's what I do. Also, try contacting her management (IMG), and ask them whether she is going to be appearing in your part of the country.
