I don't think is actually, I played the game not to long ago, but both acts do have quite different songs, so does that mean you cant recognize which stage and act its from then :P

No, it's the Desert Zone Act 2 from Sonic and Knuckles, it sounds a little different, maybe it's the quality though =P

Indeed, although its actually called Sandopolis zone, But I knew what you mean, I probably couldn't remember any of the zones from the original sonic games if you asked me, but I just started playing them a few months ago, the Genesis games, but I love the Sonic game music :)
