John said that this song was poor, Paul said that it was just an album filler but for me this song is freakin' amazing! Never in my life I could be able to write a song nearly as good!
@ThePurpleSheep JL said that but only after he was made successful by PMc's 'fillers'. What the girls (and the world) fell for in 63-64 were Paul's pop ditties. JL was along for the ride at that point.
@SecsSells According to BeatleSongs/Will Dowding, John Lennon outwrote Paul @ a 3 to 1 ratio from 62, up through A Hard Day's Night. JL was in full stride @ this point. It was actually Lennon who wrote the "Fillers". Of which, I feel were some of the most kick-ass tunes that the Beatles did. No name-calling here, just facts.
What the FUCK is with the panning 2 seconds in?! Every time I hear it it's like I'm in a banking aircraft. They didn't have a CLUE about stereo till the end of the 60s and this remaster emphasises it. Love the song though, mhmm ;)
I remember buying this in Germany out on the" Economy", couldnt get it at the P.X.on base, every Saturday afternoon, go to the German Record stores and listen to the new stuff being released, and chatting up the Girls, we'd meet...Saw them "Beatles"on TV a year before on top of the pops I think, but when You heard them you HEARD THEM, immidiatley.....
Even if you don't like older music, you have to have massive respect for their talent. 75% of artists can't even sing well without the help of autotune. It's pathetic what music has come to, when it used to be so great.
There will never be another group like The Fab Four! With the exception of a couple, just about all their songs hit Gold. (No such thing as platinum back then). I saw two of their concerts- one when they first toured U.S. and were on The Ed Sullivan Show in Feb. '64 and their last live concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on Aug. 29, 1966. Man, you haven't been to a real concert, until you've been to a Beatle concert! None of this horse-and-pony light show and fog crap.
Great Stuff! Great Music and Great band!
