@27thepusher What an intelligent, articulate comment: 'Fuck.' How perceptive! How profound. 'Fuck.' All the rationality of the Enlightenment, all the deep insights of post-structuralism and neo-Platonism distilled in a single word. 'Fuck.' Er...'fuck' to what exactly?
The extraordinary thing is that in spite of the new technology which allows computers and automated factories to replace much of human labour, and in spite of the doubling of the workforce with women now working full-time, we are still expected to grind ourselves into the ground as we 'multi-task' and 'work under pressure', competing with one another to prove ourselves more 'highly motivated' and 'task-assertive' than the next poor slave to the System. Why?
@ImmortalCRO Well, no one can exceed their abilities, but they can push themselves to the limit. Yes, but everybody seems to be missing the point. I really can't put it more plainly than I have. New tecnology, automated factories and computers, and the workforce doubling with women entering the workforce full-time, should have resulted in us all working only a few hours per week. It did not. WHY?
@archdeaconj Simple... it doesn't pay off. New technologies make life easier and cheaper, but the guys over at We-Control-The-World-Corp don't like that - they like making money. Making life easier for US would make it harder for THEM to keep things under their control. The problem you are questioning is known as "modern slavery". The capitalistic western culture made things so and until another great revolution breaks out, or until the oil reserves run out - things will stay the way they are...
@Immor Well, there's certainly something in that. If we only worked a few hours a day, we would then have time to think about things that really matter, about the way society is organised, about who controls us, about the mythology we are indoctrinated with... And when the bewildered herd - the masses, the Swinish Multitude - are free to THINK, that spells danger to the ruling elite. I am still unsure whether this 'slavery' is consciously contrived by the elite or just turned out that way.
:))) sooo funnnyyy !!!
