  • TPIR just isn't the same without Bob.

  • An episode before they banned foreign cars.

  • This was taped on a SUNDAY? It was opening day in the NFL; the Rams played host to the New Orleans Saints over at the Coliseum. Also: the series premiere of "M*A*S*H".

I still can't believe the pristine quality of these tapes! As close to HD as 1972 got.

  • @Mcnzlea That's why Cbs had its campaign for the 1972-73 season: "Have We Got a Fall for You!"

  • I see why they got rid of this because the loser stands there looking like an idiot....HAHAHAHAHA!

  • Oh.....the clock game with two people.

  • Wow....this lookes like is was filmed yesterday...

  • Ha Ha they thought they looked cute.....

  • @ds41980

Have you seen what the people look like today?!

  • @frickadele

    Yeah.....I'll give you that. :)

  • The model in green is Anitra Ford.

  • The "other" model in green is Anitra Ford.

  • @TheWelderman1962 Don't you mean Janice Pennington? You got her confused with Dian for a moment there.

Also, honestly... I never realized Anitra was one of the original Barker's Beauties, since I remember her more for her acting chops on several movies and TV shows during that time... Most notably co-starring in the first Wonder Woman movie with Cathy Lee Crosby and Ricardo Montalban, heh.

  • damn Janice Parkinson was hottt back in the day......the model in green I was 10 at the time of this taping Burt Reynolds bitch slapped her in the original Longest Yard movie at the beginning ha ha

  • damn Janice Parkinson was hottt back in the day......the model in green I was 10 at the time of this taping

  • I thought Friskies was a brand of cat food?

  • Pat was cute, just sayin'

  • I wonder if Pat was the first two-car winner on the show.

  • I have NEVER seen that game before, where a second contestant has to win their way on stage and both of them bid on something, and are allowed to go higher or lower...reminds me of how the original TPIR was played. Unless there was a time limit, someone was going to win, presumably. What DID they call this game, anyway?

  • @tomservo56954 They called it "Double Bullseye". However, at the time, the game's names were not on any of the props nor on the set design. They DID have names back then but the names were never mentioned on air, except Grocery Game, which was mentioned on air during the first week's shows. Hi-Lo was the 1st pricing game to have the name on the board.

  • The game's name refers not to the "Bullseye" currently being played, but the 1st game to be retired, which is re-tooled as "Clock Game".

  • "Micro-ray infrared broiler" lol

My grandparents had that same Spiegel TV until the late 90's. I wonder what happened to it...

  • Bob Barker looked younger back then.

  • I think Match Game was also taped in this same studio, at least in the early years

  • @oldertvshowswerebetr The entire run of Match Game from '73-82 was done in Studio 33 (save for at least one week of shows done next door in 31 for unexplained reasons).

  • Seemed like for the first year or so, instead of heading toward the game location upon announcing the contestant's row winner, he waited for the person to come up and then walked with them to the game.

  • Talk about cleaning house :P

  • It's Double Bullseye! (At least it's better than the original)

  • That couldn't have been 9/17/72: That was a Sunday.

  • @5star555555555 Back in the early days of The New Price Is Right, they were still trying to get on their feet. Some of those early shows were taped on Saturday and Sunday. The only reason I can think of for doing that is to get more people in the studio audience, seeing that most people work Monday through Friday.

  • @TDudley1995 - Another factor besides what you mentioned was the huge weekly turnaround in TV show production at that stage (Studio 33) in Television City. "The Carol Burnett Show," for example, taped on Fridays.

  • I wonder when they started using the classic...

    CBS

    RECORDED AT

    TELEVISION CITY

    HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA

  • @Tubewings - That would've been the 1973-74 season. The version used here dated to the 1971-72 season.

I also noticed on this variation, they used Folio, unlike the post-1973 variation which was all-Helvetica Medium.
