but i think what they decided to do was that because the three main cast were fairly whitebread "squares", except for shawn who had a white trailer trash loner stereotype, the producers brought in a smart but still "typically" sassy black chick to keep them in line.

this show needed a sassy black girl like angela. I'm glad they put her in the main cast.

@kefka3 I agree the character of Angela was needed but does it really matter what colour she is, if she was asian or perhaps a native american indian would she not of played the part as well as she does being black ?

@Lee7559 well, i've noticed that alot of the cast seem to feed of off some stereotype or another. and the personalities of the main cast, topanga cory and shawn are all really "white" stereotypes, albeit some are negative. unfortunately, there arn't many known native american indians who play as actors unless they're really big guys, and asians are usually cast as either incredibly intelligent or in some kind of gang. now don't get me wrong these are all stereotypes and most are hurtful.
