Well, I admire the sentiment behind their awarding of the prize (more of a slap at Bush than anything, methinks) but yes, not exactly what you could call 'good timing' on the Nobel committee's part...and not a terribly good choice, either, given Barak's as-yet-still-fledgling status as a president of the United States. I agree that the awarding of the prize to Arafat did mostly discredit the peace prize, though...it wasn't their first blunder (Woodrow Wilson) and likely won't be their last...

the BEST is that nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize was 11 days after Obama took office. How is that even possible? Reagan ended to cold war, Clinton did more for "stability" in the middle east that any President in US history. These guys didn't win a Nobel. This whole thing is a joke. BUT this is perfect for this President--winning awards for what he promises he will do later. 10 months in and he still has yet to do anything, nice.

As Americans, we should be proud an American has won a Nobel Peace Prize but the prize has become a joke. He should have declined it until he actually produced results. If it even matters anymore anyway. I'm very confused with this whole thing.
