The repeated phrases of 'Che Vergonia... (starts at 3:25) when she is revolted with herself might be one of my favorite Mozart vocal lines. In the space of 30 seconds the most vividly and strikingly beautiful emotion is expressed so effortlessly.
Great high notes!!!!!!! sometimes I don't like her low register much.... but overall I think she's very good in this Così. Favourite version for now, along with Dessì. Go Miah!!!

I think it was technically perfect, but it was dead somehow. No emotion came through, but I'm not sure whose fault that is. I agree that there is something not quite right about her lower register--I think the notes sound too strained to be beautiful.
TV techie people are often a riot. Filming any production of any opera has to be a tedious, dreadful business... I saw a reel of raw footage from the Peter Sellars (not Sellers, the comedian) TV production of Cosi, oh lord how awful! The final result was wonderful but I can only imagine the hours and days of utter boredom getting it in the can...
But I love Persson and Luca Pisaroni, I can't think being around them could be tedious!
I love her voice. She's my favorite of all the sopranos I've heard because her low notes aren't heavy, though there are certain roles, like this one that require that heaviness. However, Miah is Persson is, at least in my eyes, incredibly talented.
she is not a Fiordiligi - her voice has to much character soubrette affectations. She lacks the calm elegance, depth and maturity for this role. She has been totally miscast -which is shocking considering its Glyndebourne! she is a great singer - she would make an excellent Zerlina as she is beautiful fresh and expressive.
Great actress, crystal-clear voice, maybe the best Italian diction ever, and - indeed - good-looking. But she's not a Fiordiligi - her low notes could use a lot of work. I like her light/coloratura roles better (Zerlina, Susanna, Sifare, etc.). She would, however, be an amazing Despina. And has anyone whispered Musetta into her ear? I can't believe I'm the first to think of that...
I love this aria- her low notes are amazing....Can you PLEEEEEASE post Dorabella's Arias (i.e.= Ah scostati...Smanie Implacabili/ E amore un ladroncello). Thanks
On the basis of this clip I bought the DVD and found the entire performance first rate. I love the production and Hytner's direction is superb. A glorious performance.
Fine performance from a young, developing artist. Gorgeous tone and nice line. I believe she could become something special as she matures. The last phrase with the trills was a little taxing for her, but overall I give her an 8.5/10! Can we now see her sing COME SCOGLIO??? I can tell she's got great coloratura.
Developing artist is such a condescending term. She's singing in the top opera houses in the world. She is at the top. Developing artists sing small roles. She is the real thing. She has a medium sized voice, that is all.
You misunderstood my remark. I meant to imply that Ms. Persson, although awesome, is not yet at the height of her powers. In other words she's got the potential to become a MUCH revered artiste, much like Lucia Popp, Kiri Te Kanawa, Barbara Bonney, etc.
How can this Nordic goddess trill her Italian phases so perfectly?

Je vais corriger un peu le tir
C'est vrai la voix de Miah manque un peu de puissance ; mais c'est une VRAIE mozartienne et elle chante tout

Brava! One of my favorite Fiordiligis ever. She sings Fiordiligi this week in Salzburg and I can only watch the TV-Broadcast. :-(

Her vocal quality at the low end is OK; she just seems to struggle to get any power down there, so it ends up sounding pianissimo.
This is now almost 3 years old; perhaps things have balanced out better since this was made.

I worked on this very production. How very dull and tedious. The only excitement was the BBC's HDTV broadcast trucks and people. Nice bunch

Good technically, but not moving somehow, and she does lose it a bit at the end.

what the hell do you mean she loses it a bit at the end?
yes, she does it staccato but nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with it!

She has a beautiful CD singing various Mozart pieces. To me she is a wonderful singer, and that disk has turned me on to mozart. *****
