I remember when, in the 1950's, Mountain Park was a destination for families on the afternoon of First Communion Day. Amidst the rides and the games the first communicant floated in the beautiful white dress and veil and enjoyed the looks of admiration, curiosity and respect! Not altogether in the most spiritual spirit of the day but God understood.
Total dirt park, but I loved it. I had often wondered whether it was still open. We moved in 1988; I didn't know until recently that it closed the year before.
Wow! What a treat. My Dad used to take me and my sister to Mountain Park at least once every summer. We loved it. I was quite young at the time and remember being to scared to go on many of the larger rides. I spent a lot of time at kiddie land. Anyway, seeing this was great because my memories of Mountain Park were ransacked after seeing it in such disrepair shortly after it closed. I am glad to have them restored. Thanks!
I really loved going to Mountain Park when I was a kid. When I had my son me and his Grandfather used to take him up their almost everyday and he really liked the cars on the track next to the cowboy on the bench. I still have some pictures of him on the cars and other rides. He was only 3 years old then and he just turned 30 back in September and he remembers going there.
WOW!!! A friend just sent me this video. I brought back so much of my past. I also liked it better than Riverside. It was more of a hang out that kids could wander off from parents without much problems. I also remember the cowboy on the bench. I sure wish I could hook up with Doc and his Delorian. lol. I don't think I'd want to come back.
WOW! What a real Blast from the past, I was a "Flats" kid growing up, I went their all the time. I believe I was there on the last day it was open (Please correct me if I am wrong). It was when the park closed for the season, and the new mayor had it open for 1 day. That was the last time I remember it being ever open again.. Thanks again for bringing back the memories!
We used to love coming here in the late 70's-early 80's. Parents used to let us loose and head to the "Beer Bubble" that's what we called it.They always had polka music goin...I miss it so......
What a great job you did with this video. Brought back a lot of memories for me. All that was missing was the cowboy sitting on the bench. I can't seem to find any pics of him. Do you remember him?
Love this!!! I miss that place so much. I have been trying to follow the goings on up there. The new owner wants to rebuild the park. Hope to get some good news soon. Thanks for this video!!!

I always end up thinking about being a kid at mountain park.
