I loved this dance. I loved this dance I have no words to describe what this video has raised me! It's incredible!:) and the song, it is simple red? what song is? kissis
Beautifull videos, beautifull choreos!! Ive been dancing for so many years and it´s hard for me to find something I like, nowadays everyone want to be original, and they loose the esence generally (in my opinion). I wonder if you know Noemi Cohelo over there, shes a great modern-jazz teacher in Argentina and I know she used to dance and teach in France when she was young.... ??
Mr Loringett has more knowlege about jazz in his pinky finger than you can fathom. He is more than correct in calling his works jazz. Anyone with a knowlege of dance history can see that the majority of his movemnt is rooted in techniques of the jazz masters (Giordano, Luigi, etc) and then expounded upon by virtue of his own influences, experience and personal interprative style.
in my opinion it´s lyrical, the point where jazz and contemporary meet... beyond that I think it´s beautifull, and the dancers enjoy it, its just dance, does it really matter how we name it???
THANKYOU!. Geez you think with so many people thinking this is contemp. You would think otherwise too. The name suits though, OFFJAZZ. Literally off jazz meaning its not jazz. Kinda contradictory calling it jazz when its not huh...?
This is NOT jazz!. This IS contemporary/lyrical. IF one thing annoys me it is that of labelling routines and how people label them. Jazz is either two things, 1. Showie or broadway jazz or 2. in your face, high tempo jazz. Flash dance is a perfect example of jazz with the hard, strong movements.....this routine on this video is not jazz. OFFJAZZ get it right next time please :)!
I dont agree with you, jazz is life, pure freedom, this routine is not contemporary at all, it does not mean because you have a more sophisticated choreographic language that it has to be contemporary.
Jazz is cabaret, show dance, tit's and ass stuff, but also what I propose. You seem to put the jazz in the commercial field only. Jazz dance has much more resurces then that.
I dont agree with you, i think u need to get a dictionary out buddy. This routine has an obscene amout of contemporary traits compared to a jazz dance. Like the attitude turn, flailing arms and flowing movements. Theres nothing wrong with the chore, just it think your definition is off by a long shot.
When u speak about jazz as a carabet that was in the 50's, it has evolved. Also the genre of jazz has been thrown around a lot these days. Just because u call it jazz doesnt mean it IS. sorry :)
Hey JJboy, please have more respect, to talking with a JAZZ DANCE MASTER, Gianin Loringett is a Student of Matt Mattox, he trained and work with the most popular and amazing pro in the industry. So open your eyes and your mind JAZZ IS NOT ONLY COMMERCIAL STUFF. Work your BRAIN as your body... BUDDY !!!!
I have the utmost respect for cheorographers. My ballet teacher is one of the best in the world and i have learnt to respect people by my judgment. In my view this is contemporary. ACCEPT IT. Have respect for someone who speaks differently. And cheap shots like using my own material "buddy" isnt appreciated. Be original like this dance. Its original but i disagree with its classification. Wow. Call out the army and shoot me if u think so differently.
i think your the one with the closet mind. Jazz isnt just showy. It can be emotional and passionfilled but not with this choreography. Everything has only limited resources. Then your taking it too far.
I see your point and you have a very talented company but this dance rountine is very lyrical. You used maybe about 2 real jazz techniques in this dance so I can see why this could be consider lyrical, you mostly used hand movements. Its nothing wrong with that it still looks nice.
This is jazz!I thought this was lyrical or modern.

His work is so diverse. This is a more contemporary jazz piece by USA standards. He does some work to Peter Gabriel that is to die for!
