Lota people criticize USA, justly maybe, unjustly for sure, but this is the Best Fucking Drinking ( Bourbon / Scotch / Beer ) to Get Pissed Outa Your Head Music in the friggin' world. I should know, I am a fuckin' sophisticated Australian, with a tertiary education - I been to three schools. Now go and buy me another beer and show me some fucking respect. God Bless George T and the Delaware Destroyers! :-)
Forget about the rest- this is the best hard driving, down and dirty, straight ahead example of what rock and roll should be!!! May you keep rocking George and the team.
GT comes from the 'roots rock' thing, like Setzer of Stray Cats, and some others. He's basically playing Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, like the intro guy said. SRV was TX electric blues, like Buddy Guy, Lonnie Mack, but he attacked the notes and 'sprung' them more like a metal guy. They're both like Hendrix in that they like that crispy high sound and don't miss a note on that fretboard. Plus they sing with a decent tone and probably never thought of themselves as vocalists. All percussive styles.
This was unquestionably the MOST unique and Rare Sound that GT ever produced in a concert.
I chatted with the poster of this video and he agreed with me, that the Guitar tone set up this 1 particular nite was NEVER equaled by GT in both Raw Aggressive ' chainsaw' type Tone.
NONE of the other Thorogood concerts have had this specific Guitar set up.
The Tone of his Guitar is Fuzzy, Raw, and so Powerful !
I have heard HUNDREDS of GT bootlegs and NEVER did they sound this
Sounds about right to me. You never know what these older dudes have as a secret weapon though. (A certain effect pedal/rack unit/style of playing, etc...)
absolutely ! this is one of my favorite all time songs and ive heard TONS of different versions. and i can tell you i was there in 95 watching this on TV when it 1st appeared on TBS house of blues , and the moment i heard the 1st few seconds i said
WHAT THE FUCK IS HE USING TO GET THIS SOUND ! i challenge every GT fan listen to 100s of different concerts where he played this song , you will NOT find his guitar set up like this.
I can only say one thing........YEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont know if i should dance or headbang!!!(come to think of it im doing both!!!)
I have a question for George, WHY DID YOU ONLY USE THIS SET UP AND FUZZY DISTORTION TONE FOR JUST THIS 1 NITE ONLY ?
In my Opinion huge mistake, this sounds AMAZING, and after he played this nite, he abandoned this unique Ferocious sound , Never to return to it, and i just dont understand why being it sounds so Incredibly powerful, distinctive and Intense !
His setup here and Guitar Tone is Very Aggressive, Raw, Angry and a bit "FUZZY'
For some odd reason this is the ONLY time he ever used this set up. He never went back to it. the sound is FEROCIOUSLY POWERFUL
Im mystified why he never again used this effects set up to put the PUNCH back into his sound.
This sound goes right for the Jugular no ?s asked. To be honest many of live performance guitar technical set ups sound very mellow and weak in tone, flimsy.
Any of you remember his 50/50 tour, back around'81 or so? One of the hardest working musician in the business. And, he gives you your money's worth...and more. Even if you sneak into one of his shows...lol. He's f'ing awesome!!!
The first concert I ever saw was George on July 2, 1983 at the age of 15. I have seen him 12 times since. Always a great show. This White Boy can play!
i got to see brian setzer open for george in st.louis and man what a show. the old kiel opera house held around 2500 and not one person sat down the entire show
Listen to all of the other GT CDs/ DVDs or Videos here. Ive seen him in concert also, and NEVER EVER did his Guitar sound like this. The tone is ridiculously agressive, Loud, raw, Fuzzy ! It sounds awesomely ferocious ! NEVER did he duplicate this tone. This was a 1 nite only situation. He is using COMPLETELY different equipment with his AMPS/ PEDALS than he Normally uses..notice the difference in the guitar Tone !! its Incredibly Obvious and glaring

Nobody can EVER replace SRV. George Thorogood is an awesome slider, but SRV had somethin' else.

By the way, why hasn't anyone uploaded the whole video of this concert? I would love to see the entire show. Especially with that buzzsaw guitar.

Thrilling. He seems to have harnessed that old Hound Dog Taylor style distortion, loaded it into a cannon, and lit the wick. Great blues.
