  • Television is a Chattering Monkey Box that takes the place of storytelling in our lives.

  • McKenna is correct ..

  • I think people should watch this from start to end as well. I apologize.

  • That graphic animation blew my mind, I put this on just to listen to on my phone with ear phones, lying on the couch, eyes closed & I open them for some reason & was looking at some amazing art. Well done whoever made it.

  • But do we stop taking in all this visual media? Maybe. Maybe we should at least go on nature retreats or...are we going to evolve into high speed androids? What I would like to see is everybody developing their clairvoyance so we could see what's really going on. We need to grow emotionally. Many people are functional, yet emotionally still 2,3,4,5, 6 years old. There are 2 year old politicians, yet this is not clearly seen in our culture. many are developing intellectually, utilizing techno

  • ok so the basic concept is that ideology from tv or books will not help with what is nature because those ideas are what they are and nature is somthing else. But what confuses me is, is there valuable knowledge in books or let's say documentries of hinuism, philosophy, etc? Is he asking us rather to just experience rather than read about it, but what if we would not be aware of an natural ideology or somthing naturful if we had not read the book, or watched the television show?

  • The video reminds of HR Giger.

  • Hi,i am assuming you are the same team or person or people who started archives of people on youtube? If so you certainly seem to know who is most important to produce archives on B4 the govt's start twisting information. Great upload&thanks for all the work you would have had to put these archives you started with Tim Leary are absolutely vital for our children's children's children!! GREAT JOB :)

  • It's McLuhan.

  • What is the name of the person Terence is talking about? I can't seem to figure it out, it's at 8:25.

  • im high, and this video is trippy as hell

  • @Xiethetuber

    Tool - Vicarious :)

Also check out "Tool - Parabol/a"

  • "i need to watch things die! from a good safe distance.

vicariously i, watch as the whole world die"- TOOL, vicarious.

  • that little movie that was playing in the background was freakin awsome.

  • Terrance Mckenna is missed and needed in these times of change. he was a huge loss in the psychedelic moovement. It's really cool that his words can live on not only in his books but little clips of info on youtube and such. keep up the good work.

  • Wake up People!

  • it's simple: we kill the batman

  • Pretty weird really, the video thats playing Tool-Vicarious, the song is about humans gaining pleasure of other peoples death on the television, Maynard was saying that humans wont gain pleasure from the news unless someone has died or anything to do with death, he's saying we look forward to it, but we would deny it, very surreal.

  • @voodooshavo666 he even says vicarious around 3:40

  • People are just too fucking addicted to entertainment; addicted to DIVERSION. People are way too happy, way too prosperous for their own good, and no one wants to rock this boat.

I wish that whatever is going to happen in the next 10-20 years would just hurry up and happen,. I hope for the worst possible scenario WITHOUT extinction. I hope we lose all of our electricity, all of our technology. People would lose their MINDS with out tv and social media... Fuck that would be great...

  • @gdoddmeta3608 and ill be meditating for infinity hahaha!

  • @gdoddmeta3608 Im with you man! I think people would regain their minds rather than loose them if that scenario would unfold.

  • @gdoddmeta3608 I totally agree with you my brother!! Back to nature.......

  • @gdoddmeta3608 Thank you....I agree, nice to know I am not the only one.

  • @gdoddmeta3608 That is moronic. Absolutely ludacris. I hope you still feel that way when your bleeding badly and need to get to the hospital with no lights or staff, no way to find the hospital...you dont know where it is, no gps, cant call your friend with no phone. Stupid bro. I hate t.v. too and social media its detrimental to our well-bieng but shit its too late to get rid of it.

  • @HiGhLiKeAlLaDin Agreed, the Arab Spring and Occupy movements we're made possible by social networking sites and peoples ability to use them creatively for purposes not dreamed of by there creators. From my knowledge of the dark ages...it sounded like a pretty shit time. If we were plunged back to similar circumstances now with the levels of greed and cynicism that plague us, my guess is things would be worse on the ground.

@gdoddmeta3608 is a fools comment and speaks to how he uses the medium.

  • @McKennaArchive Agreed. Things would be incredibly worse in close proximity to one another. If you have some basic survival skills and can seperate from the herd and take care of yourself (1%) thatd be great. But if you get an infection your screwed. I dont think our immune systems could handle such a massive change of diet personally. The water we drink is great when you consider it. I bet if you drank from a stream youd feel sick. Were soft as muffins so lets not kid ourselves.Survivorman=no

  • @McKennaArchive

I'm speaking about how 99.9999% of people use the medium: to waste time and obsess over "omg, what is he thinking about me?? What should I message back? Will I appear vulnerable if I post this comment?? Will she like me more if I post this comment? etc. etc... Social media is almost entirely teenyboppers playing implicit mind games with one another.

  • @gdoddmeta3608 I think your numbers are a hysterical exaggeration, the time I spend online constantly shows me creative people forming communities where art and ideas can evolve...but then I don't spend any time where I would encounter teenyboppers (apart from when I log in here and read some of the comments) the revolution isn't happening on Youtube or Facebook, you have to dig a bit deeper than mainstream platforms.

  • @HiGhLiKeAlLaDin

I'd rather live for 20-30 years in a dangerous, predator filled world with death around every corner, than live 65-75 years in THIS society.

  • @gdoddmeta3608 Agreed. I would much rather get a chance to live like a real man. Hunting prey. Growing a big ass beard. Smoking marijuana plants. Providing for a family while teaching my sons how to hunt with me. Getting in excited battles with predators. Ide rather die fighting a sabretooth, then die at 92 years old in a wheelchair. Than freaking sitting at a deskjob sipping coffee like a castrated dumbass.

  • @HiGhLiKeAlLaDin totally agree !, what a beautiful life :D

  • @HiGhLiKeAlLaDin With attitude like that it will always be too late and will contnue to do so. To have an infection or somthing extremly painful would contain a lot of suffering but the truth is that is what is nature. When we make technology we are manipulating nature for selfish desires depending on what (materialism). You may not die from cancer because of a cure, but the whole world will be destroyed because we have created an enormous technoligical society which is focused on individual

  • @HiGhLiKeAlLaDin and in the end make us less able to survive when it does happen. For example, water has too be very sanitary to drink we will get sick, we have to wear thicker clothing because wwe are used to air conditioning of our own selfish tempertaures, before yes people would die from cold but there would be people who would survive and pass those genes on, a natural survual but we are slowly wakening ourselves with theses " advances"

  • @xJrJuicex I appreciate your insight. It seems pretty intuitive. But I was merely showing the original poster that his idea was not self satisfying by any means and he would change his opinion at the drop of a hat given the circumstances.

  • @gdoddmeta3608 We need balance more than anything, bro. Lets destroy the government and abolish society. However, electricity is needed for us, as humans, to progress.

  • @veganzombieism electricity is needed for us to progress as humans? you mean progress technologically? who said we have do to that? all that gets us is a destroyed planet and nuclear reactors. all technology does is give us more "stuff" -- materialism is a problem, electricity is convenient but "stuff" is killing us and Earth. i have to disagree with you

  • @matter0ni Progress technologically, yes. To develop cures for cancer, AID's, and other deadly diseases. Electricity is needed for us to power hospitals, just so you know. Without HOSPITALS, hundreds of thousands of people would die each day. If your motto is "kill off all the sick and the young", then you should join a satanic cult.

  • @veganzombieism okay you talk about developing cures for everything as if people are planning on living forever. YOU ARE GOING TO DIE -- stop being in denial. also, the longer people live, the more people will exist on the planet. we are going through a CRISIS from this -- so many people on the planet we are using every natural resource and it is quickening up our demise. your logic leads to catastrophe and its tragic because that logic is so common.

  • @matter0ni I talk about developing cures so people have the time to enjoy live thoroughly, so that infants don't die at 3 months. Your logic is = There is no point in stopping cancer in its tracks because we're going to die, there is no point in electricity even though millions of people are relying on it right now to simply exist, and that we should all jump off a cliff in order to save the planet. We can't cherish and appreciate this planet's beauty if we are dead.

  • @veganzombieism That's exactly right, we can't cherish and appreciate this planet's beauty if we are dead. That's exactly what we will ALL be if we continue down your path. Mass consumerism, everyone lives to be 200 years old, we will be extinct in a hurry or everyone quality of life will be AWFUL. You think without modern medicine people cant live. You are foolish, how do you think your ancestors lived? Or pre-literate people? You are ignorant if you think they all die at 3months old.

  • @matter0ni Obviously not everyone dies at 3 months old, but there are hundreds of million of people who wouldn't have made it to live today if there was no technology. People who have been hit by cars, people who have been electrocuted, people who have been attacked by wild animals, etc. We need certain technology in order to survive, that's it. Ignorance is not the world's problem, it's hatred, which you are promoting. End of.

  • @gdoddmeta3608

I think there is a balance to be had. I believe TV can have very positive effects. It is what is being diffused and shown on TV that is poisonous. If I were robbed of electricity, I would not have come to know about Terence McKenna, Alan Watts, Aldous Huxley, etc.

What we need is not mass anihilation... we just need to start over new. Don't wish harm upon people, wish instead for enlightenment, illumination and open-mindedness...

  • This is interesting, and I wonder what Terence would have said about this social media phenomenon. It's sad really, that it was all professed as a way to "keep in touch with friends and relatives whom you may not be able to see on a regular basis" and now it's degenerated into this fucking disease, where 13-20 something year olds spend MOST of their day, mindlessly typing away, WHORING themselves constantly, with the intent of keeping all of the attention on ME, ME, ME

  • "drug abuse". Ppl are extremely ignorant when it comes to a few of these comments, if your that gullible of the worlds problems that your actually talking shit about Terrence McKenna......

  • Seeing and reading are the same thing, just different sides of the same coin. The Internet has become the T.v and vice versa. People have moved away from mass produced media to very specific programing...the whole reality T.v phenomenon...History channel, A&E, CNN, HBO..etc..it's all about choice now. Nobody is forcing you to watch anything and there is a great variety of programming these days. It`s like people who hate fast food..don`t eat it. Don`t like whats on the T.v...go outside. :)

  • So who is the new century's Mcluhan?

  • what the hell am I watching?

  • @Ericlouthain tool music video

  • @originaltbyrd don't you have a bible-thumping to attend, as opposed to posting bullshit here about a man you didn't know?.. are you a doctor?.. i'd guess not, as the actual doctors who treated Terence found NO CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP between his drug use & his cancer...

for that matter, i see you speak of leading children into torment... seems more a specialty of you religious types than us spiritual ones...

"freedom for us will be a prison for the rulers of minds" ~ Peter Rowan

  • I think you guys should tone it down with the unverifiable and frankly incredulous comments as it's giving this video an aura of 'crackpot maniac theory', as much as i am a dedicated fan of McKenna, Tool, Gray etc.

  • @FractalZero Try addressing your comment to the person(s) you are speaking to, otherwise it just shows up in my inbox. If you have a problem with anything i have said here, spit it out.

  • @McKennaArchive

It was to everyone who has posted a comment relevant to what i complained about and everyone considering posting a comment - while i enjoy free speech as the next warm blooded human, i do feel people should refrain from claiming Hicks' cancer was deliberate and that Tool's songs are about the NWO (they aren't) etc.

I don't have a problem with you, McKennaArchive, in fact i very much appreciate the effort you've made to upload all of Terence's work.

  • @FractalZero Fair comment FZ, I'm in agreement with you. The need to link everything to an all consuming conspiracy is becoming ridiculous, we can't even have natural disasters anymore without people blaming the NWO ;)

Thanks for getting back to me

    ~blimp:)

  • @FractalZero well spoken and well said. The video is about TV rotting your mind thru addiction to it. Period.

  • @FractalZero Are you guys really saying there are topics that are too far out there to be discussed on a Terence McKenna video viewer comment section? Now that's ironic!

  • @CounterRevolutionary Not ironic at all, ever heard the phrase "The task of discerning shit from Shinola looms very large at the end of history."?

  • @McKennaArchive How can one presume to determine what is shit in this wild world in which we live?

  • @CounterRevolutionary Use your brain.

  • @McKennaArchive Really? I would expect more from a student of McKenna. It's like in a Joe Rogan interview, I think maybe with Graham Hancock; somebody said trying to understand God was like their cat looking at their computer screen, they hadn't the brain power (or maybe the pre-learning) to understand how the images on the LED screen got there.

How can anyone be so presumptuous to assume that they know enough about this crazy, effed up world, to think they can discount any "crazy" ideas?

  • @CounterRevolutionary "Use your brain"? I can't, neither can you. The geniuses amongst us only use like 10% of their brains. There is a whole universe out there that we can't understand. Dismiss ideas at your own peril.

  • I really enjoyed this video, every part of it, especially the graphics.

  • its interesting, observing parts of society raised on the cathode ray nipple. And as of late Monkey see, monkey do DVD's.

  • @McKennaArchive I suspect Hicks was given a cancer inducing drug to extinguish his life. I believe the truth will emerge on this not too far away.

  • @charlesfrith It's possible, I'd need to see some evidence to convince me it wasn't just the very tragic loss of a young life to a hedonistic lifestyle. It happens, and too often among my peers. The only conspiracy i see with this is a society that makes the most sensitive among us feel the need to drink and drug themselves to oblivion...to turn the TV off.

Cheers C & thank you for the support of the blog.

  • First class. Thanks.

  • Duncan Trussell same voice like Terrence, they are same person like Terry reincarnated into Duncan ....

  • the video itself is really distracting and makes it difficult to really pay attention to what's being said here. sort of ironic in an irritating way.

  • @ArtificialEntity lol, that's the best opening sentence of a comment i've ever read.

  • @jimmyshitbags Thank you, I'm blushing.

  • @ArtificialEntity I know this comment you posted is old but I'm very glad I saw it. I've always had a fascination in their music but never took time to listen to them. Can't wait to hear these now, thanks.

  • @SeventhRisk Thank you for your kind words.

  • This is great, the song "vicarious" is exactly what mckenna is talking about

  • why do you think they call it the ETHERnet.. Ether that's why, etherical realm..... i'm sorry but it's a lot more complex than what Terrence knew, he was just gettin his foot in the door on the pathway of knowledge

  • tv is a drug controls YOU, not vice versa... TV = Auto pilot, Internet = I'M the pilot!!!

  • @McKennaArchive absolutuley love that quote :)

  • I wish he was immortal :(

  • @ArtificialEntity

They're not that amazing, and they're a famous, I think most people know them.

  • @BryanEKS89 Your comment has zero value.

  • @ArtificialEntity

Sorry for the opinoin of not saying Tool are the greatest band to ever exist. Oh god, here comes all the superior Tool fan comments.

  • @BryanEKS89 No, no, no - I don't want you to say that Tool are the greatest band to ever exist, I just want you to stop wasting my time with comments that are irrelevant. I'm not being mean, I'm being truthful. Your comments so far actually have zero value. Don't get mad at me, you started it.

  • ive seen this vid like 30 times today, and everytime i get something new out of it. thanks terence!!

  • All I can say is Let us not be brain washed by television...YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!! Life is already in 3D.We have been living 3D since we came to be.A primary example.Next time your in a room with people see the room from above...Yes people we have been living 3D....We are amazing people. We just need to tap in a little more thats all.Give the Material world a very long break. Can anyone out there hear me? "Thank You!!!!"

  • @McKennaArchive You remember correctly sir, please find it here: watch?v=wS7CZIJVxFY

    Respect.

  • great message, but I really don't know what to make of the film....it distracted me a little and I might get nightmares from it...hehe

but it is very original and interesting.

  • Internet is an extension of our central nervous system, a collective brain that is getting more consciousness of itself at an accelerating speed.

  • amazing video, is it made byt Alex gray? where can i find it?

  • @alexandraacreator It's from a video he made for the band TOOL, the track is called 'Vicarious' ...it's on the tube :)

  • @McKennaArchive great!

  • @alexandraacreator Grey did the part where the worm thing is inside of the head.

  • One nice thing about the internet over tv now is that you can sidestep alot of the mainstream sheep-food and go right for the "white meat". It doesn't matter what you're interested in, you now have not only instant access to it but access to many others that share that same interest. You can bypass the brainwashing (for the most part) and seek out only that which interests you. Internet is my anti-tv.

  • @Damienf77 Take note they want to close down open internet coz is goes agaist the tv. Internet allows different sources of information. which u call anti-tv now. They dont want that :P But they can't stop it either. If you withhold people from getting information they r interesting in, you are breaking their free will; you are forcing a will on them. Thus stopping a certain informationfeed will expose the nature of it 2.

  • @Damienf77

i wish that were true mate!for the sake of everything thats good and true in this world,i hope youre right.but then again, marijuana has strains nowadays.

  • @Damienf77 great comment

  • @Damienf77 except for if the internet blacklist bill is passed. then the end is in sight.

  • @Damienf77 PLEASE HELP ME!!! I once posted on TerenceMcKennaTube's youtube comments what happens when we die and he replied "You're still ignorant...so there may be hope for you, but that ain't my problem because you're blocked." Me taking another drug(whether it be weed of shrooms) will depend on the next answer you give me, is life just one scene in an never ending movie, or do I just keep on the same script, and relive it over and over again?

  • @nickthegrizzly2 Terrance Mckenna died in 2000 youtube didn't start till 2005. so unless he responded from the grave.... doesn't sound like something he'd say, sounds really cold which he wasn't.

if we knew everything about life it would be boring ithink so just enjoy the ride dude. Peace and love that's my instruction.

    peace and love

  • @Damienf77

too bad 99.9999999% of people who use the internet use it for social networking, porn, and for keeping up to date with the latest 'celebrity fashions'.

  • @Damienf77 Yes. Spread the word :)
