Nice Vid. Another thanks for the lack of soundtrack. I have a Discovery II now but I miss my original Disco with the manual shifter. This video brings back great memories thank u
@fishsponge To be honest I really havent worked it out yet. It is a great riding truck. Im using it for my commuter right now. When I pick up a new car Im going to start using it solely as an off roader/beach machine. It is definitely a much smoother ride than the 96
@fishsponge I just got the truck and havent done any rough off roading yet. It certainly rides nice. Im picking up a new car in March so Ill give the disco a little workout then.
@gibbo1112 well, my disco has center diff lock, but certainly no traction control! Some people like TC, other's don't, but you are right - this video shows several reasons why it's excellent! Cross-axle'ing is a thing of the past with TC!
You say you "like the 2 the most"... do you mean you like the Discovery II the most?
And i'm glad you like the lack of music - aside from the potential copyright issues, it takes half the video away I reckon unless you have music *and* the original audio! :-)
Awesome! I'm 16 and i go off roading with my cousin and i bought a Discover 300 tdi off my dad and i am looking to convert it into a entry level off roader, what upgrade do you think i should get first? Like get a winch bumper and steering guard?
@PCModKiiD i'm paranoid generally, so i'd suggest a steering guard and diff guards first. Once your landy can't be broken, you can start bolting accessories to it!
Next on the list for me would be larger and/or grippier tyres (if you don't already have them). After that, it's whatever you want really - whatever you find you start needing - suspension lift, winch, spotlights, etc... depends on the sort of off roading you're doing I guess!
@PCModKiiD no idea to be honest... there are lots of different ways of doing it - cheap ones and expensive ones! I bought mine in the state it is in, so i've not modified it much further at all.
my best resource for landy knowledge is the landyzone forum... be prepared for a bit of a laugh on there too!!
@focijohn i'm glad you like the lack of soundtrack! I personally don't like them either... and anyway it's tough to find something that suits the video and ends at the right time without cutting off, and then there's the potential copyright issues, and you only get half the experience because all the proper sound is missing! :-)
@Fireball69 I run 245/75R16 tyres. Currently "Hankook Dynamic MT RT01". Going to need some new ones soon though, they don't make the RT01 any more and the RT03 is a bit different, so not made my mind up yet!
@Fireball69 right... i just looked up "CDL"... it appears to stand for "Centre Diff Lock"! That is exactly what this vehicle has. See my video entitled "How Diff Lock Works and When to Use It" for an explanation in relation to my vehicle :-)
stepping over the winch wire during a winch ?? what was he thinking ?
I know there wasn't much tension on the winch but still.
cool video though

Nice, though it kinda demonstrates why later discos have TC and diff lock, subsequently i like the 2 the most, also, i like the lack of music!

@fishsponge Yeah that is what i was thinking of getting first :) How much do you recon it will cost to get a 2" lift?
