Die schönste Oper, die sich auch bestens eignet, um Kinder an Opern heranzuführen. Besser noch als "Hänsel und Gretel" von Humperding. War auch meine erste Oper vor der Bühne- da war ich 9. Später auch im Graben, als einer der Tuttistreicher, da war ich 24.

Als erste Erfahrung als Kind bis heute umwerfend, lag auch an der super Inzinierung. Der Livesound, das große Opernhaus, die gesamte Atmosphäre und die genialen Stars auf der Bühne-sah eine Aufführung mit Helmut Prey.

It's not really because he has made a vow. He says in Act II Scene 6 "Nein, da will ich doch lieber eine Alte nehmen, als gar keine." Which means roughly, "I'd rather take an old woman than none at all" (apologies to any native German speakers if my translation is not perfect).
