Okay just to annoy everyone here, I LIKE how this movie went. I think it shows a realistic story and there were some good reasons for John Smith and Pocohontas to break it up. Not everyone gets with the first person they fall in love with and I think it is a good thing that there is at least ONE disney princess who has a different story to the rest.
pocahontas is based on a true story, so if they messed up the story and made her end up with John Smith, they're altering the TRUTH - what really happened to Pocahontas.

OMG i recently started watching my old VHS's and pocahontas is now one of my favourite disney movies! I also had the pocahontas 2 VHS and i was so excited to watch it and in the end she didn't even end up with JOHN SMITH! that pissed me off so much. their love was way to strong for it to end like THAT! it pissed me off so much
True, I never liked Disney's always wonderful, romantic and happy ending interpretation of princesses. They should have never had the romance between her and smith because it never existed. And she moved on with john Rolfe really quick too. They don't mention that she dies at 29 of polio either!

@animecrazy102 actually, Pocahontas was about 14 and John Smith was 24, it's possible there was a love connection for the 2 year period where she knew him very well, however when john smith wwas believed to have died, Pocahontas moved on and married the idiot. actually i find it highly unnecessary. They create an awesome love sotory in the first film that u just can't destroy in a second part. And if u pretend to destroy it, then don't make it that important from the begining. The way the fiest film ended was just perfect...the 2 lovers from different worlds separated, and it is up to you to think if they will see each other again..if they won't but they will remain loyal to the other's memory, etc etc.
and not just that....pocahontas I was a film that talked about many other things than just their love: protecting the nature, accepting other cultures, etc etc. It was a film full with meaning...this second part.....pft.....just kills the first film. as i said..one of the worst
Is it just me or is all the sequals of the classic disney films crap? Cinderella 2 was bloody aweful!! Lion King Simba's Pride wasn't that great..sort of based on the fact that Rowen Atkinson didn't do the voice over for Zazu... and Mulan 2 was just terrible! The only ones that I thought were vaguely good was the Beauty and Beast sequals.. I thought they were alright, as the other 2 were on the same wave length as 1st one.. (this will probably contain spoilers, but) John Smith did leave in the end of the first movie, just like the real life story - they really met when she was very young. She did go to England and end up marrying John Rolfe, and does end up with John Rolfe in the film. To make this an easier transition in the movie, they end up making John Smith kind of a jerk :(

They already screwed up most of the history about Pocahontas, how much worse could they make it if, in the movie, she ended up with Smith?
With my preference, and I'm sure many others, she met Smith first-- she should end up with him. The reason being that, in the movie, she fell in love with him first.

She was wined and dined and taken to theaters. It was recorded that on one occasion when she encountered John Smith (who was also in London at the time), she was so furious with him that she turned her back to him, hid her face, and went off by herself for several hours.
Later, in a second encounter, she called him a liar and showed him the door. Pocahontas really existed historically (~1600s). We dont have any history record that she had any feelings for Smith, but is true that she saved him from the death. Historically, Rofle really was in love with Pocahontas, its also true that she went to London and Smith went to America. Pocahontas was MARRIED to Rofle and remaind friend with Smith. She was the wife of Rofle until her death. To conclude, there is more chance that she was in love with Rofle than Smith...or why didnt she marry Smith?

They brought Rolfe in to be more historically accurate. In reality, Pocahontas was 11 and John Smith was 28 when they met.
The real Pocahontas married John Rolfe.

actually i find it highly unnecessary. They create an awesome love sotory in the first film that u just can't destroy in a second part. And if u pretend to destroy it, then don't make it that important from the begining. The way the fiest film ended was just perfect...the 2 lovers from different worlds separated, and it is up to you to think if they will see each other again..if they won't but they will remain loyal to the other's memory, etc etc.

Is it just me or is all the sequals of the classic disney films crap? Cinderella 2 was bloody aweful!! Lion King Simba's Pride wasn't that great..sort of based on the fact that Rowen Atkinson didn't do the voice over for Zazu... and Mulan 2 was just terrible! The only ones that I thought were vaguely good was the Beauty and Beast sequals.. I thought they were alright, as the other 2 were on the same wave length as 1st one.. Such a shame about the rest though Y_Y

John Smith and her weren't married.. o_o Who is she two timing? They split up at the end because they couldn't be together. She was just her first love. xD Not everyone stays with their first love. I work in a childeren clothing shop and there is a tv there for the childeren. and I always put on Pocahontas and secretly watch it with them! So now I almost see/hear the film 5 times a day. the music is so nice! And I am 17 :s

Wait a minute! I feel like a child when he/she finds out Santa Claus doesn't exist...so who dies? who left who? who ended up with who? Somebody please help! I feel bad cause I'm grown as hell, but Pocahontas has always been 1 of my favorite stories, to then come 2 find out all of these horrible things. I knew she was a real a person, but I never knew her story.

(this will probably contain spoilers, but) John Smith did leave in the end of the first movie, just like the real life story - they really met when she was very young. She did go to England and end up marrying John Rolfe, and does end up with John Rolfe in the film. To make this an easier transition in the movie, they end up making John Smith kind of a jerk :(

They already screwed up most of the history about Pocahontas, how much worse could they make it if, in the movie, she ended up with Smith?
With my preference, and I'm sure many others, she met Smith first-- she should end up with him. The reason being that, in the movie, she fell in love with him first.
It could be just because I'm a hopeless romantic, but it upsets me how they stuck her with a character that doesn't have as much developement with her as Smith does. -Sigh-

The descendants of Pocahontas and John Rolfe were known as the "Red Rolfes."

Pocahontas really existed historically (~1600s). We dont have any history record that she had any feelings for Smith, but is true that she saved him from the death. Historically, Rofle really was in love with Pocahontas, its also true that she went to London and Smith went to America. Pocahontas was MARRIED to Rofle and remaind friend with Smith. She was the wife of Rofle until her death. To conclude, there is more chance that she was in love with Rofle than Smith...or why didnt she marry Smith?
