  • Every time I watch this, I feel like it's a NEW N64 game coming out. Sigh. My childhood...

  • People would have eaten this game up as a stand-alone. As a Star Fox game though, it feels out of place..

  • @ACluelessKid Yeah, like for instance I would have BOUGHT it if it wasn't a crime against all things Starfox.

  • some people comments on the dinosaur planet page of unseen64 that they got some for sell or trade.

If could be true would be fantastic that someone leak it :)

  • We can hear at some points Conker's music :)

  • I hope this gets leaked. I would have greatly preferred to play the game in it's original form.

  • Am I the only person who ever wonders where they keep all these old unreleased games?

  • @itsdavideo

Usually kept in storage somewhere. On an old hard drive, or other storage medium. Sometimes if a beta cart is made (for showing at a show, or to pass between a developer and publisher, like between Rare and Nintendo) it gets put into storage with other company stuff.

Sometimes one will show up at a yard sale or a fleamarket or something, being sold by someone who used to work there who got it, or the family of such a person.

  • @Draknfyre I'd seriously shit my pants in public if I was at a yardsale and I found a cart of this game.

  • @itsdavideo

Lots of times it's a beta of an already released game. Sometimes it's an actual unreleased game. Sometimes it's a game that only people in the company got (back in the 80's, Pepsi commisioned Namco to make a Pac-Man game with a Pepsi theme, only people in the company got it.)

Sometimes you even find demo carts. The demo cart for Turok 2 for the Nintendo 64 was a beta version of the game. These were used in stores, but sometimes people got them.

  • @itsdavideo

The catch is, if you find a beta cart, it isn't going to have the nice, neat final artwork sticker on it. Usually, it's completely blank except for maybe a label with an internal serial number on it. You won't know what game it is until you pop it in. If you are lucky, it will have the name in pencil on it.

  • I never really knew what that bird in the cage was up until seeing these videos.

  • this version needs to be released on virtual console.... maybe we'll actually get to fight scales

  • I still remember when this game was announced ): It was one of the very few games from N64 that I actually wanted. I love Star Fox, but... but.. why?? Why changing the game to a SF sequel? >.<

Thanks Rare... we lost this game and possible sequels...

    RIP Saber xD

  • Huh. Sabre has Krystal's voice at 5:37 and 5:54

  • @TheFalkyrie

Beta. It was possible at that point they hadn't done voices for those two situations for Sabre.

  • Rare really did push the n64 at the end. Conkers BFD with its real time shadows, lighting, facial animation, sound, unbelievable texture work, Banjo Tooie, Perfect Dark all hi res and all with massive draw distances and then this - which looks like it would've went a step further. Imagine if stuff like Conker came out at the start in 1996/97 - I think brains would've exploded!

  • aside from nearly removing all of Krystal's role, making this a Gamecube Starfox game was a good move

  • "Late 2000"

    I wish...

  • Star Fox Adventure is the remake of Dinosaur Planet cause it was too old so ya

  • "My name is sabre, I could have been a cool game character but instead Rare decided to sell out."

  • @Hethrin Damn right you could have

  • how I cant believe this turned into star fox adventures. I love that game

  • wish they kept the krystal levels and the style.

  • @WeEatBrainz they could have had a feature where when you beat the game you can play as Krystal for the whole game or something

  • star fox adventure

  • IF they ever considered finishing this and releasing it on whichever console...Id be there to play it.

  • Well that explains Fox's voice. I'm glad they changed it though caus Starfox needs more games.

  • ii would be awwesome that nintendo making a remake of starfox adventures!

  • This video + Soccer Horn = Equivalent of dividing by zero.

  • Do you guys think Rare will release this game for the Xbox 360 Arcade just like Banjo - Kazooie and Perfect Dark?

  • @TheFoxshot Unfortunately, I have my doubts. As much as I hope they do, I have a feeling this game never got finished. I hope somehow, though, they go back and finish it. I think it would get a lot of interest!

  • @Korin88 sorry it took a while to respond. The Dinosaur Planet game for N64 was actually already finished in the first place. The reason why it took so long for this to release is because they were switching around the Star Fox characters, adding new voice lines, and updating the graphics for GameCube since they changed their minds on making this a starfox game.

  • Interestingly enough tricky originally had a brother called Rocky

  • It is likely that original Dinosaur Planet will not ever see light of the day. It comes like this: It is RARE -game, but Nintendo has putted some of characters now for StarFox (including Tricky). Having said that, they COULD Re -Release Starfox Andentures: Dinosaur Planet again for the WII (perhaps with the new controls) AND include original Dinosaur Planet -full game as an unlockable for those who complete game!

-This would be best solution, and other games do it as well (Panzer Dragoon Orta).

  • That development cartridge is so hot that i would give away even my brand new XBOX 360 Elite -console for that!

As if we will ever see this even on ROM -version, well we can just hope...

Because this game was produced by Nintendo, the finished N64 -version could probably only appear on N64, NGC, DS or WII.

It is similar position with Eternal Darkness N64 -version, -they could release it as a download for WII if they wanted, but it is Nintendo`s decicion.

-I really hope they make that call;)

  • Well things aren`t allways what they seem.

As for cutting & dumping down the game for CG, there can be millions answers! Remember, Ocarina had loading time on CG, but not on N64, so may be they did not want the DVD got too full and must do loading betveen the levels, or something.-Remember RE2 is one cartridge on N64 but two CD`s on PSX.

Other explanation is that Rare got bitter coz thay had just finished game that would not go sale, and they would start it all over again and did not bother:(

  • Wow you can really tell they model the character after Star Fox, I think they planned that from the start, so it'd be another update of a character like they did for Donkey Kong, and then left Nintendo to notice that it was a great game design and that the character was too much like Fox McCloud.

  • Favorited, because I will use this video for all eternity to show people why this game is not, and will never be, Starfox canon. Thank you, sir.

  • I looks like so much of this game had already been completed! I wish this game could have been released. If there were a ROM available, I'd definitely go download it!

Also, Krystal deserved to have her own game franchise, instead of being just a starfox character...

  • oh god.. ok iam happy that this game comes to gamecube... even if everytime i played this i thought, it "playes" like an n64 game. Now i know why. :) Great!

  • DAMMIT Nintendo, WHY!?

  • What makes this painfull is the fact that at the end of the day there is NO released game(s) for N64 that use 90 - 100% of the power of that console, courtesy of the cancellations of the games like Dinosaur Planet, Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil Zero...

BUT, with the recent N64 releases of the finished articles of the likes of O.D.T, 40 Winks, Mini Racers, ect...

-There is most definitely good change we WILL get to play even this game on N64 version!!!

  • @M1XART How about Conker's Bad Fur Day? That probably used 90% of the Nintendo 64's power. And it had the best graphics of the n64.

  • @sonikku956 As far as i know Conker did not utilize expansion pak that much, so i would say Conker is 80% -90% power eater.

  • if this had of came out on n64 it would have been the best game on the console

  • The hijacking of Dinosaur Planet's license from Rare to become part of the Starfox franchise owned by Nintendo was part reason I believe as to why the owner of Rareware left the company, then later convinced Microsoft to buy them off from Nintendo. Basically they had a cry over their license being butchered. Was a sad time in Nintendo's history then, from 2000 to 2004 they pulled an EA, lost RARE over it, and a lot of fans. It's great now they have gone back to their old selves.

  • I don't know much but do ya mean they "pulled an EA"??^^;; But yea, Nintendo hasn't made the best moves that time

  • @CmdrFoxDavion Talking out your ass here. The stamper brothers sold their shares in the company to Microsoft around the same time Adventures as released, in 2002. They both left in 2007, FIVE YEARS later.

  • I hear Banjo.

  • I think porting this game to the gamecube was definitely a good idea, as the characters and visuals looked better! But making it a Star Fox game was totally unncecessary! Just because a character looks like one of your own company mascots Miyamoto doesn't mean you have the right to replace him!

  • @Ketorulz StarFox has much highter fun base allready existing compared to any new release with new characters, so it can sell more. -Simple as that...

-Having said that, i can`t understand that they cut out so much from Cube -port:(

Original version had so much more gameplay and stuff going on...

  • @M1XART Yes....I guess. But why did they have to make Krystal a damsal-in-distress? People were looking forward to playing her throughout the game like you were meant to in the original ALONG with the... male "fox" character. I am also shocked they dropped the battle with General Scales at the end. Rushed for time my arse!

  • @Ketorulz That's not the reason why they merged the two games. Nintendo figured this game wouldn't sell so well and decided that Star Fox needed a new game in the series. The end result was utter shit.

  • @tyrannasaurasalan This was ANOTHER reason. Why not find a character that looked just like Sabre?

  • @Ketorulz Still it means that maybe someday we can get a Virtual Console port or a 3DS version or something... Nintendo can still release games like DK64, Star fox Adventures etc.

If it wasn't a Star Fox game we might have gotten a sequel that doesn't live up the the original. *cough*NutsAndBolts*cough*

  • @Ketorulz Amen

  • @Ketorulz Not only was it unnecessary, but it scrapped both Star Fox AND Dinosaur Planet ! It was totally a mistake !

  • @Ketorulz Yeah, but it was because nintendo didn't want to rare make it a "microsoft game" and they put starfox characters........

  • Holy Crap Saber's Voice Actor is the same as Fox's. So thats how it happened

  • The Enemies look cooler.

  • im glad they decided to turn this into a starfox game. :)

  • isnt star fox the main character with the sword on his back ?

  • starfox?......SWORD?

doesnt sound right to me, dude. lmao

  • oh my bad it mighta been another beta demo

  • I think it is strange that Dinosaur Planet was Rare's last game.

  • This game could of been a great game to play. I think the same voice actor that played Krystal, came back to play her in Adventures and Sabre sounds a bit like fox, don't you think? I wished this was out, i would of played it. ^^, also, i wonder what Krystal was searching for in the beginning..And i have so many questions to ask about this game that could of been out, so that way we can all know about Krystal and the one who was forgotten, Sabre.

    Absolhunter, out!

  • o.O

When Sabre said,"Hey wait!" at 3:40 ish, he sounded like Fox o.O

  • It was probably the same voice actor.

  • Duh don't you people ever think? It's the same voice actor.

  • How do you really know if it's the "same voice actor"?

There is no proof of it being the exact same one.

They may sound the same, but can probably be said by a different person...

  • Do you think they will change ever thing? And the n64 have a much weaker sound system them gamecube.

  • *then* *every*

  • actually this was the original game for star fox adventures.. but it got ported to nintendo gamecube.

  • I am well aware of that.

    But Sabre's voice was Fox's?

  • ohhh okay.. well damn!! that was a QUICK REPLY! lol

    uhh idk. it probably was.

  • Well, this reply isn't as quick. I was busy playing some L4D.

  • I wonder if rare has any plans to release it?

  • It got turned into Starfox Adventures on the Gamecube in 2002, unfortunately I think the original would have been better, but it was Shigeru Miyamoto's idea-the man who created Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Starfox etc.-to turn it into a starfox game because they were "very similar" (Those similarities include being about foxes who are technically in space..and that's about it..) but it's still a good game, go to the website ign to check out the review.

  • Miyamoto did not create Metroid. He's far to busy making damsels in distress to ever make a cool female main character like Samus. But it is true that it's his fault this got turned into a starfox game. It probably would have been much better as is. As we can see he still has a fetish for damsels in distress because that's exactly what they turned Krystal into. They also took her for a ride in the slut-mobile and sexed her up in Adventures, I let slide because she looks much better that way.

  • xD fetish for damsels, no seroiously, i liked star fox adventures, i couldn't believe this thou.hehe, i also like the franchise, anyway, this looked good. what would have been good is that this got released as planned, and then make a starfox game from a scratch, but this added an important character, of course krystal. i'm not a furfag if u're wondering, i just like these games. c ya

  • Miyamoto did make Metroid btw.

  • Nope, Gumpei Yokoi made Metroid

  • Ah, that's right. Discard my previous comment. ^^

  • Woah!

That's the first time I've ever heard Sabre talk, and actually hear Krystal say something else other than, "My name is Krystal, and I've come for the princess!" How exciting. This makes me wish they'd release some sort of port of this game. @_@ Other than Starfox Adventures, of course. Great footage, thank you SO much for sharing.

  • Haha, yeah dude, that's the same clip I keep finding too XD God I wish they would have released this. Twelve Tales: Conker 64 and this game would make me just pee my pants.

  • conkers bad fur day was funny, im sorta glad that twelve tales didnt take off.

  • yeah, and the guy talking Sabre sounded like Steve Malpass, who voiced Fox in SFA!

  • Also, did anyone else hear someone say 'Sabre' at 3:05? Is that Krystal, or would that be one of the Cloudrunners?

  • @Xeninicune it was a good game but with star fox was a good idea, but i think the game missed something else

you finished the game and thats all.... nothing extra,2nd quest or something

they shoul put the classic beta or something like that

  • OMG!!!!

General Scales fell off his ship???

I knew he was a weak boss to fight, but if he fell out of his ship then he is the lamest villain in Videogame History.

I know he looked frightening when he threw Krystal overboard in SFA, but I can see now that RARE made a few comical things with General Scales that that forgot to include when they made StarFox Adventures.

  • omg... its starfox adventures^^

  • Really great and rare footage here. This game would have been great if it would have been released on the N64.
