  • Oh my gosh.

I cannot believe someone so unqualified is offering dangerous instructions like this on youtube.

    This is unbeliveable.

  • @FYI1337 Joke's on them I was only pretending to be retarded

  • @FYI1337 What part of that was dangerous? Explain!

  • prove he died

  • RIP Mark... Your teaching will be missed.

  • @atompkins99 hes alive fag

  • @danthaman7777 He passed away sunday idiot, look it up

  • @atompkins99 sadly, no. He died of nut cancer,

  • is it me or he had a rounded back b4 1st rep?i think he should drop hips lower b4 pull like he did but rip said no.wtf is goin on?

  • @steflotti105 Biomechanics, not physiology or physics

  • mark rippetoe is pretty damn good at physics....

  • @RompYa physiology.. not physics

  • "Is the bar still over the middle of the foot?"

    "Yes."

    "NO."

  • If you want to keep that back straighter it's simple, you raise the chest and tuck the chin, that straightens out T-spine momentarily and shifts the weight to the hips. By keeping that chin open like that, the load is wasting into his lower back. People forget, the erectors go up the spine right under the lats, not just the lower portion of the spine.

  • Crossfit finally realized that their dogma holds no water, so they are now trying to hire guys like Ripptoe to give them some recognition as being "legit." Eat that crow Crossfit, you have a looooooooooong way to go to understanding the science of training, not just picking up a weight and making up things as you go along, I could get a child to do that.

  • @mrceebees14 Crossfit is legit!

  • @trecuck They are trying to be, only took 16 years of trying to bullshit people.

Today I had to explain to a "crossfitter"(haha) the basics of loading, shit that is 101 even before you attempt to write a program for someone. Crossfit still has a loooooooooooooong way to go, when they realize what time it's, they will cease to be "crossfitters," and instead will be just intelligent coaches.

  • @mrceebees14 Well man, I can't deny it, there are stupid people everywhere...just don't get confused, there are Crossfitters who know what they're doing. Most of the other Crossfitters drink the kool-aid and think they're the shit and know everything.

Btw, was that Crossfitter an actual coach or some mediocre Crossfitter?

  • @trecuck He was a "top level" instructor.

I have not met one "crossfitter," who knows the basics of training and how to apply them.

  • @mrceebees14 this is probably because the crossfit methodology (that of randomly doing weird set/rep schemes in regimes that make no sense, like high-rep cleans or deadlifts for speed) is inherently nonsensical. training is about stressing the body to yield an adaptation: the adaptation is specific to the stress. the crossfit goal of being adapted for "anything" is impossible. doing fran will make your fran time go down, but it won't prepare you for... well, anything else.

  • @Egendomlighet Exactly.

  • @mrceebees14 Two questions (if you'll oblige me with a response): (1) What's Crossfit? (2) When you say you should keep your chest up and chin tucked in, are you recommending that the lifter looks down as he/she performs the exercise instead of straight ahead? Thanks.

  • @superspliffstar Sure. Crossfit is timed circut training that uses most density training protocols with incomplete rest periods for most lifts. Yes, although I said it as a bit of a joke because the technique is so awful, they would have to stop and be re-taught(which isn't hard and might not take too much time depending on who you are training.) For most lifters, the lift is the main focal point, with crossfit, it's about the time, as you get better you are supposed to learn better technique

  • @superspliffstar but from what I have consistently seen, only a very small portion actually get better. The fact is, your brain will learn a bad motor skill sometimes faster then a good one. So to go back to your question, the chest goes where the eyes go, you look up, the chest comes up and the butt pushes down, that takes out a large portion of the erector muscles you are supposed to be recruiting in a dead lift...especially a Sumo style one.

    I hope this helps.

  • LMAO when Rippe asked if the dude's feet were still over the bar, a women said "Yes", and Mark says "NO!" I think it was a loaded question. Silly woman will one day learn to remain silent when zen master speak!!

  • @Dayga You said it wrong, he asked if the bar was "IN THE MIDDLE, of his feet." She might have heard the question wrong or had a bad angle. Most people will do a conventional dead lift wrong because of imbalances, but that is not uncommon when you are talking about a multi joint movement like this.

Try teaching Olympic lifting, now that is very hard and I should know, been teaching it for 10 years.

  • back is wrong turn.

  • keep the bar over the middle of the foot to keep your shoulders over the bar and the line of gravity where it is supposed to be

  • its all wrong! the bar its hitting the knee

  • its all wrong!! the bar its hitting the toe

  • Yes.... "no"

  • Is that guy arching his back?

  • 0:14

    NO BITCH

  • I dont get this part, how do you make sure how to get back into posistion perfectly?

should your legs be shoulder width?

  • Rolls off knees was told not to do that? :S

  • "Yes"...

    "NOOOO"

LMAO! That is one precious instructor-supervisor to behold; cannot stop laughing.

I like his smokey voice that it sounds like 150 Schwarz-Luengle per day.

  • i can't take this guy serious. why is he fat?

  • @j8m8n8m8 he used to powerlift a lot, and was rather good at it, he no longer cares because he has nothing to prove

  • @j8m8n8m8 you are stupid

  • @j8m8n8m8

you obivoulsy do not know that this man is one of the most repected weightlifting coaches in the world. why is he fat?? because he isnt concerened with 160 pound weaklings who only want to see their abs.

  • @lordi You're probably another fat fuck who's never seen his abs in life. If youre gonna train you should look like you do and and not like you eat donuts all day.

  • @mannycoon

actually no im not. but i have enough cop on to know who mark riptoe is. and i dont need to go around youtube insulting people to make myself feel important. who are you to say how people should look. how many world class powerlifters can see their abs or strongmen??

  • @lordi I suppose I was raging against a good friend of mine who is a power lifter, but he looks like a fat turd and eats garbage several times a day. Thank you for being a gentleman in your response but I think in my friends case he can lift AND look & feel healthy at the same time.

  • lol somebody said yes and rip was like no.

  • @wudthedamaja nah he said note .

  • @wudthedamaja a woman

  • Rippetoe rocks. This video... not so much.
