Do you have to hook up the wires to the ignition wire? Or can it be any 12v acc? Which would turn on ONLY with the key in the ig, say for instance the radio. Because the radio isnt always on unless you use the key. So if you tap this gauge to the radio, it will turn on when the key is in the ignition. Right or no? I dont wanna take apart my ignition shroud and tap those wires thats why. I dont wanna ruin it and mess it up.
@Alexmagic1000 thanks for the advice. i just found out the diablosport trinity i bought displays volts already so i dont need an isolated gauge for volts. thanks!
@zippitt13 If you ground the black and put the Positive to the battery It will always stay on. So Take The Positive(Red) And Ignition (Orange) put them Together And connect it on Ignition Wire ;)
ok, i want to use a voltmeter for car audio. in a battery bank, if i hook up the ground to ground and power and remote(that other random colored wire) to my power it will be on when theres power so always. so if i put a switch on ground(single wire so its easier) i can turn it on and off with the switch?
@thetommantom Well if you only want to use it for your audio they sell a separate gauge for that like you see in my video i installed and i could see how much is my sub and speakers pulling
So there's just ONLY 3 wires on the back o this thing right? And is it pretty bright at night? I want mine to be pretty bright. Oh and should I get a digital stinger volt meter or this kind?
@red666A Hey if i'm not mistaking it should be IGNITION BLACK/YELLOW (+) In IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS to be 100% you could stick in your test light and turn on your car and you see it light up :)
@tatnard22 Hey what's up The red wire goes on the ignition wire because if you put red wire on 12v(Power Source) and you ground your black wire your gauge would always be on. So when you put your red wire on ignition. It give's (+)power to your gauge when your key is on "On"---> so when your turn on your car it give power to your gauge.YOU COULD PUT YOUR RED ON POSITIVE AND THE ORANGE ON IGNITION BUT YOU LOSE ACCURACY ( I DID NOT PUT THAT IN THE VIDEO I WANTED TO MAKE THE VIDEO QUICK)
christ, its hard to watch this with that ANNOYING f*cking music in the background....

@theguy1224 Yes you could put it on the radio wire but it's not going to be 100% accurate
but you won't se e the difference.

andb1231 7 months ago
@andb1231 If that's the case you connect the positive on your Ignition and the negative you ground it.

i thought the red wire (power) was supposed to go to a constant 12v source?
