Apart from the fact that Bear faked it (which is the least of my concerns), he also routinely gives bad advice. And by bad I mean uneccessarily dangerous. He was even caught using concealed equipment to perform dangerous moves that he is pretending are ok for you to do.

The point of Survivorman is to show its audience how man survives by himself; the point of Man vs. Wild, on the other hand, is to demonstrate what one should do should one face the worst of dangers in the wild. To say one is better or worse than the other is capricious and juvenile, so try to look past the concept of the show you want to watch, and instead concentrate on what you are ACTUALLY watching.

The shows tries to give the illusion that he is miles into the woods and must find a way out.. while in reality he is normally just off of a road. They also state that his crew only helps in "emergency situations", although they have helped and interfered in many episodes.

I just watch the show to see him get injured and possibly get mauled or die by starvation. He rarely catches anything in the wild, gives up easily and teaches you how NOT to survive in the wild.

Their probably are a LOT of survival situations where even an expert would be SOL. A lot of martial artists/fighters will tell you that there many situations where you can only run away to save yourself also. It is only of concern if ithe day is cold. Otherwise, if the weather's very warm, eating snow is just like having a tasteless slush/granita. Call it what you want. Otherwise you can always pack the snow in a bottle or something (if you have one) and carry it on your backpack while letting it melt in the sun. I've done that a few times.

I think survivorman has 23 episodes, but he's done other things like "Off the Grid", but I'm looking forward to his new series, though I have no clue what it's called or when it starts.

It was hinted at on the last ep. of Survivorman when he said, "Survival is only the beginning...", then on his blog on his site mentions that he will be doing something new, so I'm assuming something new will be coming to the Discovery Channel... I like both shows, but I prefer Survivorman, its more realistic. I find Bear sometimes does things just to do em, like "Watch me scale this waterfall!" for no apparent reason, which serves no purpose at all for an actual person trying to survive. I love the areas he goes to, so tropical and cool. But Survivorman I actually learn stuff.
Because of him I now know how to start a campfire with a lighter with no lighter fluid left in it.

"Red Snow" or "Watermelon Snow" is snow with a cold-tolerant algae and would be the same as eating certain "bad" mushrooms. Vomit, diarrhea, or even death can result in eating red snow in large amounts.

The snow had a reddish tinge. I think that's why he picked that spot. Plus if the snow has stuff on it, then the water has stuff in it (as pk4lyfe123 said), and you can't scrape that off like you can do with snow.

It is only of concern if ithe day is cold. Otherwise, if the weather's very warm, eating snow is just like having a tasteless slush/granita. Call it what you want. Otherwise you can always pack the snow in a bottle or something (if you have one) and carry it on your backpack while letting it melt in the sun. I've done that a few times.

les actually does what he says he does. he lives in the wild and survives in the wild alone. Bear stays at hotels, has food, water and whatever else he needs provided by his film crew. search " man vs. hotel" on youtube to see exactly what bear grylls is all about.

yeah its well known by now man vs wild isnt a authentic as survivorman, man vs wild bear, that guy bear doesnt actually do most of his presentations in the wild, he has quite a few people following him, at the very least he has a camera man, a boom mike operator (ive seen the shadows), and a survival expert from the area. its also been repeatedly said that he usually has a base camp set or transportation waiting to take him to a house, motel. very unauthentic in comparison

Well I heard that he will be doing another show. It was hinted at on the last ep. of Survivorman when he said, "Survival is only the beginning...", then on his blog on his site mentions that he will be doing something new, so I'm assuming something new will be coming to the Discovery Channel... I could be wrong though.

I like both shows, but I prefer Survivorman, its more realistic. I find Bear sometimes does things just to do em, like "Watch me scale this waterfall!" for no apparent reason, which serves no purpose at all for an actual person trying to survive. I love the areas he goes to, so tropical and cool. But Survivorman I actually learn stuff.
Because of him I now know how to start a campfire with a lighter with no lighter fluid left in it.

"Red Snow" or "Watermelon Snow" is snow with a cold-tolerant algae and would be the same as eating certain "bad" mushrooms. Vomit, diarrhea, or even death can result in eating red snow in large amounts.

The snow had a reddish tinge. I think that's why he picked that spot. Plus if the snow has stuff on it, then the water has stuff in it (as pk4lyfe123 said), and you can't scrape that off like you can do with snow.
