Amazing dancing ladies, your both amazing performing artists. I wish there were Get Bent studio's across Canada!! I would sign up in a heartbeat! You've both inspired me to continue belly dancing, I've always loved it but it's been rare to find a performance done to a punjabi song, being east indian myself that was huge, thank you ladies for sharing your talent and skills with us :D
Very well done both of you, one thing I'd say is when you're frozen, stay frozen, and don't fidget in your frozen poses because it's very distracting for the audience, 1:24-1:25 is the moment I'm talking about :)) This piece/performance has inspired me to do one of my projects to this song [I'm a belly dancer myself]!
the scenary is beautiful but they should of done this with hip hop bellydancing is very etnic but very else was perfect and the crowd was really enthusic!
Un-needed negativity aside, I think I have earned the right as a woman and a dancer to dance however I like. If the Hip Hop vibe I give off is too much for you, I suspect you're just not a fan of strong women!
I do apologize for my ignorance about this but, should this be considered a different style of belly dancing? If so, why the same tipe of costumes? Tribal belly dancers have their own style.
I BARELY EVER LEAVE COMMENTS ON THIS THING, BUT...THESE GIRLS ARE THE MOST AMAZING BELLY DANCERS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE, SO NATURAL AND GRACEFUL,SEXY SEXY SEXY!!! AND SICK SONG SELECTION, VERY UNIQUE AND ENTERTAINIING:) excellent!
Dude, I second that! The section from 2:45-2:58 is wicked cool! Is there any way that we could get a break-down of that section, oh awesome ones? I've tried watching it, but I lose track halfway through it. MAJOR kudos for that section!! And the whole piece, really. It's technically challenging and very entertaining.
1. They move their hips in a circle to the right, stomach roll up, kinda move their torso in a horizontal circle to the left side, then stomach roll down.
2. Then they stomach roll up to the right and down
Although popularized in the Middle East, nobody knows the exact origins of belly dance. Some historians believe it developed from India's sacred temple dances (please see my earlier comments). Thus, some people use the term "Oriental Dance".
Yes, the Get Bent belly dancers aren't traditional style Arabic dancers(although they do that sometimes too). The Get Bent dancers are a modern troupe that blends music, costuming and dance elements from many styles including: Indian, Egyptian, Arabic, Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, Hip Hop & even some Latin. They are Canadians - a country with many cultural influences.
@lebnaniapride im not sure about that, Indias culture is one of the oldest in the world, hinduism is the oldest religion in the world which ties into the whole culture, dancing, language etc, there are tons of dance moves in indian dancing, different types, very intricate moves found no where else in the world, watching bellydancing along is boring, but with indian dancing there are so many different kinds of moves involved etc.
Yes, the Get Bent dance style certainly isn't "Traditional Arab Belly Dance" (although they do that sometimes too). The Get Bent troupe blends music, costuming and dance elements from a number of styles including: Indian, Ethnic, Hip Hop, Tribal Fusion, Cabaret & Egyptian. Many of their dancers have their specialties.
Where in my sentence does it state that Arabs are the only ones who belly dance? I think you should learn to read more carefully and not jump to conclusions. I was merely stating a preference and you should accept that the world is full of different tastes and views. Care to enlighten me on belly dance history? For your information belly dance is actually adapted from the title 'raqs sharqi' which is Arabic for 'Middle Eastern Dance'.
No one knows the exact origins of this beautiful art but it has a mixture of Egyptian, Iraqi, Palestinian, Greek, North African, Turkish and some Gypsy influence. So I'm afraid India is out of the question.
It's true nobody knows the exact origins of belly dance. There are many theories, and one theory is belly dance has roots in India's sacred dances. There is evidence on a 13th century temple wall at Konarak which displays women performing a variety of "belly dance-like" poses. As well, "snake-dancing" has strong origins in India.
This theory suggests "oriental dancing" migrated to the Middle East and North Africa with the Sinti, Roma and Ghawazee "Gypsies" who had their origins in North India. Thus many people feel the term "Oriental Dancing" is more accurate than "Middle Eastern Dancing". What is clear is today's various "belly dance" styles are influenced by many different cultures and dance styles. There is no "one", "pure" traditional belly dance style. That is what makes belly dancing so rich and unique.
OMG!!! you guys are so awsome!! yall should really send me a list of some ood indian music artist i've never heard that or seen that type of bellydance before that was amazing please let me know more!!!

I figured out how to do it sort of.
1. They move their hips in a circle to the right, stomach roll up, kinda move their torso in a horizontal circle to the left side, then stomach roll down.
2. Then they stomach roll up to the right and down
3. then stomach roll up to the left and down
thats how i saw it go. lol. hope it helps.
