Kinda interesting; the feel on this is in between the version on Blue Turtles and the one on Zenyatta. Nice solo by Branford. Still like the Blue Turtles one best.
Absolutely. Kenny Kirkland's solo on this one is one of the best I've ever heard, and he, like the rest of the Blue Turtles band, was absolutely amazing in live performance. He is much missed.
I didn't realize he had OD'd. Both trite and stupid. I had a conversation with a musician friend of mine the other day in which he pointed out that Max Roach outlived all his conteporaries because he took care of himself and Michael Brecker died relatively young because he didn't. Have you seen how good Sting, Andy, and Stewart look these days? Fit, healthy, and sounding better than ever!
Sting had a dream where he was dancing with some blue turtles-I don;t recall the whole story, but I think it's in the liner notes to the Dream of the Blue Turtles album.

That's Mark Egan on the bass and Danny Gottlieb on the drums (both formerly of Pat Metheny Group) .

"Branford's solo is great and I love Gil Evans but I can't stand how all the Gil Orchestra arrangements are way slowed down...they just drag."
Totally slower and lower key. Turtles outdoes this version.

I love the rhythm, Sting's version is better than the police's song
