When you were narrating, I realized a great bout of deja vu. The words that you said were exactly the same ones on a review that I read online. Did you type a review?
The best choice of the MOMENT now at the beggining of 2010 is still OMNIA HD from Samsung and after the release fo the most-expected new firmware version which includes kinetic scroll and enhanced graphics ... NOT BEATEN BY ANY PHONE IN THE WORLD. from the Touch HD mobiles
I heard that there is firmware out there that I can download to get the 3d navigation and better audio quality in videos.. Do you think downloading it will make my phone slower or start lagging?
Foremost, an excellent review. I had a question. I have Nokia N97 & Samsung Omnia (the first one that they came out with). My Omnia fried so they are giving me credit towards purchase of any phone. My Omnia was Windows Mobile and the Omnia HD is Symbian so it will be similar to N97 and I will lose my Windows mobile software that I purchased. What windows mobile phone would you compare the Omnia HD in terms of being similar that has a large screen & close to OMLED? Thanks..... RAZA
What web sites do you recomend for firmware updates,s60 application, etc for the Omnia HD? What firmware do i need to go to for the better quality audio recording?
Hi Steve..do Omnia HD come with FM transmitter?and, video out feature display all display currently on the phone screen or just video recoding and video playback?
:O whaaat? i am dissapointed now that u have to write "slowly" or else u would just end up writing jiberish! and i have big hands! if it becomes a big problem for me i am going for the nokia n97 or should i wait n c if any new phones thats better is coming out?
lol.. I wonder why then they still state in different reviews on touchscreen phones that "programs runs in the background" like it was one of the features and some kind of achievement. I must say I thought it was a little bit strange... As I've had a phone with multitasking for years myself... -.^
Also worth noting that Windows Mobile also multitasks. And Android. And Web OS. it's only the iPhone OS that restricts multitasking, for better or worse.
Aaaah.. ofcourse.. there we have it.. thats obviously why they mentioned it in the reviews I read.. since some phones at the top still not supports it. They compared many different phones including iPhone so..
Hi Steve. Excellent review style - best I've seen. Will multi touch be added via firmware (is this possible). I am a frequent txter and reply heavily on my solid Nokia 6100, but I'm going traveling for a year and want an all round PMP to cut down on weight (think my 10" netbook is pushing it).
Hi Steve - excellent review style, best I've seen. Will multi touch be possible? - I need a decent PMP to go traveling (vids, inet, music etc), but it seems there is no way txting on the Omnia HD will get close to my old faithful Nokia 6100.
How relevant are the following:
OMNIA HD: 16m colours 640x360 capacitive vs
OMNIA 2: 65k colours 800x480 resistive (new and improved).
Thanks for the great review of the Omnia HD, i was just wondering if you knew about the 16GB model, is it out yet or is it still pending release? i think i'll be waiting until it is out before buying this phone. any idea's about the price difference? also coming to o2? thanks.
Won't be coming out on o2 I don't think because Orange bought all exclusivity so unless Orange decides to sell that to someone else, it's all Orange's unfortunately. x

depends the n97 would have a better picture quality due to the carlzeis lense, but the video on the omnia will be better (720p doesnt mean same quality as the ones you see on blue ray and ps3 games)
id go for samsung since i cant stand nokia's shit ass ui and it feel sluggish on the n97
awesome review, best I've seen as yet!! which do you prefer, tocco ultra or omnia hd?? I'm still trying to decide! :S I lovve the look of this though..
I use the nokia bluetoothset BH-503 with my N95. I was thinking to upgrade. Maybe N97 or omnia HD. If I take the omnia HD will I still be able to use my bluetooth headset?
are you sure Omnia HD has 2.0 DNSE? i mean everything sounds really good except Samsung is using 2.0 DNSE sound technology? They have a newer version of DNSE which is 3.0 DNse. This one can be found in Samsung p3. I just don't get if i am going to pay a tons of money to buy this, i suspect to have all the latest technology that Samsung could offer.
What would you recommend of the Nokia N97 or the Samsung Omnia HD. I have a E90 and like the full keyboard. But i think i can live without that. I need a phone with a lot of power, good camera, and a nice musicplayer :) It also needs to have FM and 3.5-headphonestick.
steve, should i buy the phone from orange on contract or wait for the phone to come out in june?,do orange branded phones lack some features than the orignal omnia hd from samsung?
Mr Litchfield, i was wondering if you were able to test phone calls. Two sites i checked both agreed that the quality was before subpar. Is this is a firmware problem or a hardware problem?
I did check your videos and I didn't see a review of samsung Jet. Have you done one or will you make one?
Im thinking of buying jet as it seems pretty good and is cheaper than Omnia that is a bit too expensive for me.
Would be nice to see a review done by you as you go down on things the others usually don't and so on. Other ppl always go on the basic stuff like 1000 others have already done.
Mr. Steve .. Im wondering whether I should get The Omnia HD or The Innov8. I have never owned a touch screen phone in my life, but I am certainly open to buying touchscreen devices as I have used them before (thanks to my kind friends!). The main things I would like to know about are :
1) Which has the better Camera Flash performance?
2)How does the Omnia HD feel like in the hand? Does it feel too large?
Steve, is this phone being released tommorow on contract with Orange? Also if i were to get it on contract would it cost extra money to use on top of my £35 per month?
Does the Omnia have handwriting recognition with a stylus?
Will we be limited with downloadable applications given its not a nokia and lucky last sorry. How is the audio with recorded clips? Alot of folks have said it is not that good.
Do you recommend the Samsung Omnia HD?, I'm not sure if I should order a new Samsung Omnia HD or Apple Iphone 16gb?, Is the sound much better than the iphone?,
I want a multimedia mobile phone, for pictures, movies and music,
Yes. Capacitive touchscreens don't seem to like getting moist. Mind you, mixing rain and ANY electronics isn't a good idea, you know 8-) N97 has a resistive touchscreen but a lot more openings for rain to get in!
Both about the same for general use. Note that the 5800 is faster with v21 firmware and will doubtless get faster etc. The Omnia HD is much faster for graphics stuff and gaming, of course.
hey steve. the last few mobilephones of samsung aren't good. is this mobilephone better than the old samsung or should i take a sony again? bad english...XD
Hey Steve ! thanks for the video. I saw in some descriptions that the samsung omnia HD has a FM transmitter. can you confirm this ? Because nobody talks about this feature and I would like to know if this FM transmitter can be used or not. Thanks
lol, maybe in the US, but we got all the other ones here in Europe=) haha, and iphone is so old...love to see if it can match all the other ones from HTC, Samsung, LG and Nokia!
i love my omnia hd.......but battry back up is very bad

Hiya Steve.
I am considering buying the Omnia HD, but first some questions to the pro:
Does this Omnia HD have good speakers please?
Does it have 3.5mm jack for earphone?
And can we put mp3 as ringtones?
Actually am using Nokia N97 8GB. Would you recommend trading against the Omnia HD?
I would really appreciate your help on these questions.

Both excellent for this. Wait and see Omnia HD (i8910) reviews, plus wait and see new iPhone specs though.

HSNathan8 2 years ago
Second hand N95 or N82 or (if funds are no object) Samsung Omnia HD.

Did youu order yours on contract from phones4u? On Orange

steve, suppose it rains when im using my omnia hd,would it affect the touchscreen?(even for n97?)
strangerStranging 2 years ago
Yes. Capacitive touchscreens don't seem to like getting moist. Mind you, mixing rain and ANY electronics isn't a good idea, you know 8-) N97 has a resistive touchscreen but a lot more openings for rain to get in!
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
Does omnia HD has multi touch???
jalalpurjattanpk 2 years ago
Possibly? Yes. In reality? Depends what software people write for it!
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
It is quite light. It definatley fits in the jean and in your pocket. The battery life depends what you do on it.
jalalpurjattanpk 2 years ago
Google its specs. Large phone though. 5800 is better for everyday phone use.
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
Both about the same for general use. Note that the 5800 is faster with v21 firmware and will doubtless get faster etc. The Omnia HD is much faster for graphics stuff and gaming, of course.

Hey Steve,i think the omnia hd will be out on monday,do u think the n97 would be better?
strangerStranging 2 years ago
No, it's not out this Monday. Both it and the N97 are expected in shops in June. No opinion on 'better' yet!
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
when you say june do you mean just in Britain or Europe-Asia-amerika...........?
jinkis4 2 years ago
Err.... Google is probably your friend here?

hey steve. the last few mobilephones of samsung aren't good. is this mobilephone better than the old samsung or should i take a sony again? bad english...XD
MrRo0m 2 years ago
They can't implement multitouch because Apple would sue them.

Hey Steve ! thanks for the video. I saw in some descriptions that the samsung omnia HD has a FM transmitter. can you confirm this ? Because nobody talks about this feature and I would like to know if this FM transmitter can be used or not. Thanks

How often have Sumsung released firmware updates in the past?
Is there any problem in that area (there was some with my fw updares for my Nokia n93)
chipko 2 years ago
They have updated - but so far not via user control. That's coming.
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
It's great to see an HD mobile phone just around the corner.
I currently have a Nokia n93i (lost my Nokia n93) and I love it. The HD recording is tempting but the audio sync issues are a little worrying.
I've never owned a Samsung phone but several Nokias ... Should the 8910i be my first?
chipko 2 years ago
when is this coming out in the US?
BrianNavarro1991 2 years ago
hmm new iphone or this
when i upgrade in march 2010
or do you think i should wait and see whats out then????
cammydude144 2 years ago
Lol wait.
Theres a phone called the "palm pre".
Looks amazing! Far ahead of the iphone. Its out soon. Plenty of videos about it, so check them out.
w3bmatt 2 years ago
Agreed, but availability will be one carrier in one country, initially. The jury's out on whether this will become a worldwide success.
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
the pre will fail
Lonefaction360 2 years ago
how much will the omnia cost?:O
Dedicati0n 2 years ago
If you have to ask, you couldn't afford it. 8-)
Neither could I! Seriously, I'd guess £450 SIM-free?
stevelitchfield 2 years ago
lol, maybe in the US, but we got all the other ones here in Europe=) haha, and iphone is so old...love to see if it can match all the other ones from HTC, Samsung, LG and Nokia!
Gille87 2 years ago
nokia n82 for the win!
still a great phone after all this time!
chunkylover017 2 years ago
It sure is you like the fact that if you break it you have to buy another, or that if your battery is fucked up you have to send the whole phone in

how fast is the internet, I ask because I have a Nokia N95 8GB and I want it to load the pages faster :P
m0jungen 2 years ago

I am waiting for this amazing phone!!! The best phone ever.
MoonSpoon100 2 years ago
I think samsung went too far with the screen size. if they keep on increasing the size, by 2015 we would have 17 inch screens next to our ears.
268Jamal 2 years ago
I love the screen size it will be great for watching videos in the morning.
I want this phone more and more every week.
