Through solar power, windmills and biofuels.

This is ludicrously optimistic if not delusional.

Massive use of biofuels will cause food shortages.

Transfering USA energy needs to solar and wind in a decade would take $ trillions, maybe impossible.

I have lived on the Texas Gulf Coast most of my life. Oil rigs are everywhere. Rigs are great for fishing. They provide structure for the fish.

The overall impression I get is McCain is emphasizing Offshore drilling, Nuclear power plants, and cleaner burning coal. He mentions other energy sources like wind as an aside but overall Obama seems to be putting much more emphasis on clean alternative energy sources.

Obama = New Energy Source Developement

Seems to be more future in working for America to take the lead on New Alternative Energy Sources so I would have to side with the plan Obama has on this issue.

Without people support any change away from oil will not happen. not even if the president snaped his fingers and said "let it be done". Would you, the one reading this comment, go out and buy a 50,000 dollar hydrogen car, and then give allow millions of dollars to create new solar fields to make the hydrogen. no because it's not needed now. if we could pay $1 a gal of gas for the next 10 years. or less. out of sight out of mind. forgein oil is not the problim. its the limminted amount of oil.

I think that McCain has a good idea, but he is overlooking things. If we drill in alaska if we lowere all prices to oil to the point were it is easier, people won't support alternative fuel projects. I mean no offence to anyone, but people will not change unless they are in trouble. We will not, as a people change to alternative fuels as long as oil is easily avalibe. and even if it means that the price has to go up, its worth it if we have to change. the people have more power than they think.

You could be sure about whom I'm voting for, but you would be wrong. In large part, I agree that it is both right, and understandable why a politician would want to change their minds on issues. However, with respect to energy policy, and financial security, John McCain has 'changed his mind' on two very key issues. Both on the 'Bush tax cuts' for those making over $200,000 and now Off-shore drilling. This looks more like an attempt to secure the republican base than a support of sound policy.
