I think John McCain is promising what he knows he can do if he in office. He does not promises what know he can not do in office. It is up to us to invent new technologies and improve old ones becuase goverment can do everthing for us.
The overall impression I get is McCain is emphasizing Offshore drilling, Nuclear power plants, and cleaner burning coal. He mentions other energy sources like wind as an aside but overall Obama seems to be putting much more emphasis on clean alternative energy sources.
McCain = Fossil Fuel
Obama = New Energy Source Developement
Seems to be more future in working for America to take the lead on New Alternative Energy Sources so I would have to side with the plan Obama has on this issue.
Without people support any change away from oil will not happen. not even if the president snaped his fingers and said "let it be done". Would you, the one reading this comment, go out and buy a 50,000 dollar hydrogen car, and then give allow millions of dollars to create new solar fields to make the hydrogen. no because it's not needed now. if we could pay $1 a gal of gas for the next 10 years. or less. out of sight out of mind. forgein oil is not the problim. its the limminted amount of oil.
I think that McCain has a good idea, but he is overlooking things. If we drill in alaska if we lowere all prices to oil to the point were it is easier, people won't support alternative fuel projects. I mean no offence to anyone, but people will not change unless they are in trouble. We will not, as a people change to alternative fuels as long as oil is easily avalibe. and even if it means that the price has to go up, its worth it if we have to change. the people have more power than they think.
haha just like why use the failed plans of 2000-2008 go john mcsame...btw when we stated drilling in the gulf of mexico it took 8 years to make it to the market
the feds did it to us. Inflation. Bush did it too, putting money where it is not supposed to go, screwing up relationships in the world and allowing the feds to keep on screwing with us. Bill Clinton i'm sure had something to do with it too. Or, maybe it is us stupid americans.
Hey I would so vote for John McCain in this upcoming election because I just think that he would make the best president. Barack Obama doesn't seem to have any plan for energy or the economy. O and by the way I can not vote in that election because I'm not an American I'm Canadian. But if I were American lid probably vote for McCain.

The value of the dollar has no direct correlation with George Bush Whatsoever. The people that are most responsible for this are banks and Ben Bernanke with the federal reserve and how they dealt with the housing crisis. By lowering interest rates they have caused our currency to drop.
Ha this has to be a joke, please. The reason gas prices are high: War in Iraq(clearly a democratic move), broader instability in the middle east(o ya Bush was president), THE ENRON LOOPHOLE THAT ADDS 25-40% of THE CURRENT PRICE(Democrats tried to close but Graham(GOP) blocked it), increased consumption of gas in China and India(clearly a democratic move). O ya, the dollar is down cause we borrow 7 billion a week to finance your war. Please don't make silly statements like this
Take a look at what the Democrats did right before the price of gas began to skyrocket: called for withdrawal from Iraq. Yeah, I'm sure that had NO effect on the market speculation. Moron.
im sure your voting Obama, and im sure you voted Kerry, and Kerry also "flip=floped"
HOWEVER i always say, a man or woman who can CHANGE based off of events and experience has a far better mind than those who have a "Black or white" mentality.
You could be sure about whom I'm voting for, but you would be wrong. In large part, I agree that it is both right, and understandable why a politician would want to change their minds on issues. However, with respect to energy policy, and financial security, John McCain has 'changed his mind' on two very key issues. Both on the 'Bush tax cuts' for those making over $200,000 and now Off-shore drilling. This looks more like an attempt to secure the republican base than a support of sound policy.
Google it and sign up. Send your politician a message. In California, they drive 70+ on the freeways and refuse to drill off the coast at any cost. They also have the most cars in the nation and highest prices refusing to even build more refineries.
and obama not only promises to kill children that are out of the womb...but as blocked bills to save them. Obama may as well stood over these children trying to survive and struck them with a meat cleaver. he is truly evil. an man who WANTS to kill children..that is just sick. the man is sick...do you understand...he WANTS to watch children die. the guy is a nut bag.
No matter how many times you repeat a lie, it will never be true.
Why don't you tell the people what the real quote was... or did your masters forget to email it to you?
A quote out of context used in this manner is propaganda and tell George Soros for me he doesn't own the Democrat party no matter how much he pays for it.
Barack Obama says he has a plan which will allow the USA to achieve energy independence from the Middle-East in ten years.
Through solar power, windmills and biofuels.
This is ludicrously optimistic if not delusional.
Massive use of biofuels will cause food shortages.
Transfering USA energy needs to solar and wind in a decade would take $ trillions, maybe impossible.

There is 1 billion barrels of oil laying off the coast of Santa Barbara. Offshore rigs are not a big problem.
I have lived on the Texas Gulf Coast most of my life. Oil rigs are everywhere. Rigs are great for fishing. They provide structure for the fish.

A lot of the higher prices is because of the decline of the US dollar.
Bush takes office January 20, 2001
0.98790 U.S. dollars = 1 Euro
June 21, 2008
1.5614 U.S. dollars = 1 Euro
Dollar worth 63% less now!!
If $4.50/gallon gas was 63% less it would cost $1.66/gallon
