God Bless Steve Jobs, he's a saint, but he never did like video games. The Atari 800 just killed the Apple II on games. Of course, the flip side is that Atari was never taken seriously as a computer company, while Apple was able to successfully break into the nation's schools. So there's a give and take there. The home computers of the 1980s were a unique breed, really wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
@HowToEatWaffles HAHAHA! That made me laugh! I guess I do have creepy hands, but your other comment is so wrong - it was having this computer that led me into a successful and still ongoing 25 year career in computers!
@Bastiest Oh please , 1 mHz is freaking fast back then . In fact , Karateka runs perfectly on this guy's system! No , it is not slow . In fact , the graphics are incredibly smooth (in this video) . I mean , no controls are skipped! Awesome animation .
What's funny is watching this video on a modern flatscreen. This particular video has such crystal clear visual quality it looks as real as real life, like there is somebody on the other side of your monitor playing this game. And you see all the bright colors and detail on the internet browser... and then you see the simple green graphics of the Apple. I don't think anyone imagined that you would one day be able to view films on a computer which were this crystal clear.
@LatinPercussion It wasn't needed for the really old computers like the apple II, they had their OS in ROM. The second drive came in handy for many games that came on mutiple disks, like the Ultima series for instance. Or for disk copying, with one drive you needed to swap disks all the time because the computers often couldn't store the contents of a disk in their limited RAM at once...So, second drives were not needed, but VERY handy :)
Many consider Prince of Persia to be the inventor of the rotoscoping technique. If so, then how do you explain this, released 5 years before the first version of Prince of Persia? Karateka has rotoscoping animations, right?
I just recalled when I first showed this to one of my teachers in high school and after I came back a half hour later he was still busy at it while doing some trash talking.
this game was one of the best. we had apple 2e copy back then in hong kong. the final stage if you don't run to the girl she will kill you with a kick on your balls.
Cracked software too...hmm, what was your full address and name again?
