  • @JohnZimmerlee Thank you so much for the information!! This agrees with my family's oral history, but the Air Force has withheld this for all these years. If there are any other family members who have missing loved ones from this era, this is the gentleman to contact.

  • My uncle was KIA in the korean war. I like this video thanks for posting.

  • I'm sorry for you man

  • Very nice. I'm sorry for your loss and hope that your life be filled with success and happiness.

  • I do not know who how but our family knew the war was a complot of Soviet union and therefore wished the best to Americans. Many men around the same. That time a normal man was unable to imagine, such things like Gulags and experiments with war prisoners were possible. KZ's, it was something else. Please accept my participation in your feelings. A normal old man from Prague, Europe.

  • The Cold War was an agreement between America and the Soviet Union. So many secrets... sounds like today, doesn't it? And we have our Gulags, too, such as Guantanamo. I wrote this song as an expression of feelings, not politics. The lines about "fighting for our freedom, and for Democracy" are exactly how my daddy felt at the time.

  • Today, we know that it wasn't exactly like that. The wars we're fighting today have different reasons than the men and women on the ground are told, as well. They are there fighting for an ideal; those who create wars are not idealistic at all.

  • @marykmusic

I'm sorry for your loss, and mean this in the most respectful way possible, but I am absolutely opposed to wars created out of fear of a particular ideology.

It seems that the real threat is Democracy. Whenever something it doesn't like appears, it crushes it under its boot

  • The real threat is Corporate Imperialism. And it's still going on.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss...Thanks for this beautiful video its very touching, and I hope thigs are better for you now

  • If you can't tell by the very primitive jets, this was during the Korean War. He really did believe he was doing the right thing for his family; but it must be admitted that my daddy was into going fast and this was the only way he could fly. He rode his horse fast as a kid on the farm; drove his '41 Chevy coupe fast as a senior in high school, learned to fly in the summer of '45, and got to be one of the first men to fly jets.

  • waiting is the hardst part

  • my heart goes out to you ppl are really dumb for killing only b/c they are told to sorry

  • so sad to one losing dad...

  • I'm sorry to hear about your father. I will always remember that the people who died as a POW or MIA are the true heroes of the United States. He was a hero protecting Korea. I wish we knew what happened to them. May God Bless You!

  • I'm sorry for your loss. My dad fought in korea. I'm a vet now myself. Hope things are better for you now. I'm very sad watching your video.

  • Mary K,

Besides being so touching this song is also so well written and performed that it could have been done in the 50s or earlier. Thank you so very much for sharing so much with us.

  • It's a timeless thing. Thanks for your kind commentary.

  • Thank you for sharing your heart with us.

  • I loved it! Thanks for sharing what you feel in your heart.

  • I'm sorry about your dad. Its a nice tribute though!

  • I got to perform this song yesterday when my combo played at the local American Legion. I explained how I always feel my daddy sitting at that special table with the lemon and salt on the plate...

  • That a beautiful memorial to your Dad.

  • im korean and im so sorry for your father. may god bless him amen~

  • beautiful tribute

  • Thanks. It took a long time to write, and even longer to be able to sing it without breaking down. Last summer, I was working at a Boy Scout camp, and did it at the end of the staff campfire... even youngsters are affected. I was amazed and touched.
