  • Will never get any better than Him and Josh Graves. Thx for posting. They made it look easy!!!!d

  • The Angles in Heaven all stand aside and wait for O to finish before continuing on. The best.

  • hi brilliant music thumbs up .Noel

  • OLD OZ FORGOT MORE THAN THESE SO CALLED STARS WILL EVER KNOW. GOD BLESS YOU OZ. WE LOVE YOU.

  • I remember in the 1990s,I went to an Opry Birthday autograph session.I wanted to meet Os,and as I stood in line, for over a Hour,I could see him,at the table. When I neared the table,he got up,and was wisked away by a young lady,& was using a cane.I stepped out of line,& asked if I could get a picture with him.The lady asked if he felt like it,& he obliged me. What a Legend & a Sound.

  • I sure miss hearing Os,his jokes, and especially his Dobro sound, when I listen to the Opry,on the radio. We were fortunate to have Os & Roy Acuff,as long as we did,in the Country Music World.

  • oz had some top shelf help on this one for sure, cant get no better.

  • it is real Special to see Mark O'conner play Fiddle with Os , as Os & Charlie gave the 1st exposure to Mark at the Picken Parlor in Nashville, before He won the Grand Masters . Miss You Os , RIP My Friend !

  • It was a long time ago when I met Roy Acuff and Oswald. But I will never get tired of that dobro guitar.

    Ron

  • I am listening to this heavenly sound as I write these words. I'd love to be able to buy as many dvd's of this wonderful man Oz playing the Dobro including those (if there are any) of his unique laugh. I'm sure this instrument must have been designed in Heaven. This is the sound that made me fall in love with Country Music since childhood. People like Oz should live forever, I know his wonderful music will.

  • DEAR OLD SOUL THEY DON'T MAKE MEN LIKE THIS ANYMORE. HE FORGOT MORE THAN THESE SO CALLED COUNTRY STARS OF TODAY WILL EVER KNOW. THIS SONG IS FOR MY BEST FRIEND MY DAD WHO I LOST ON NOVEMBER 19, 2008 YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVEDV YOU DADDY AND HOW MUCH I MISS YOU. I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVED ROY ACUFF AND OSWALD. I KNOW YOUR LOOKING DOWN FROM HEAVEN SMILING.

  • I don't "like" this video.......I LOVE IT!!!! "Herman" never sounded better, and those of us who play these things, should try to sound as good.

  • Wow!

  • This man was the sound of country music to me when I was a kid. I'll never forget traveling at night in the early 60's and hearing Roy and Oswald coming from that single radio speaker in that 57 Ford. Every time I hear a dobro it takes me right back there for a few minutes. So glad you put this on here. Stop by my channel some time.

  • Very Nice video

  • this is a beautiful song,ty

  • what a beautiful performance

  • Chills run threw my body when he plays this. Such a strong melodic and beautiful melody.

    RIP

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love this old fart !! the dobro player that plays with us sometimes thinks he's hot , and i'll give him credit but then i let him listen to my will the circle be unbroken album!! and it keeps him check!! there will never be another RIP!!! OZ!!!!!

  • Saw him together with Roy Acuff & the Smoky Montain Boys live on stage at Frankfurt, Germany. Best dobro player I've seen. Thanks for posting this historic jewel. 5 * +++++++

  • Os playing the dobro is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world.

  • He was the #1 star, of Roy Acuffs posse., when marty Stuart asked him, how long he was a member of the Opry, he said he wasn't. Marty asked if he'd like to be, Oz said he'd rather be an Opry member than in the Country Music Hall Of Fame. Marty, then went to Opry officials, and urged them, to induct this long-time Opry-sideman. Way to go, Marty !

They still should induct Oswald into the Hall Of Fame, Of Counrty Music. His voice, & dobro, & banjo, were heard on WSM airwaves, for almost 70 years.

  • He was top notch and I was so proud to have him as a friend and dobro teacher. I have a few videos on youtube of myself and Charlie Collins I'm playing os's old dobro ( not as pretty as he did though). I learned so many wonderful songs from him and he never would take a dime for teaching me. I stayed all night with him and Euneta and they made me feel like family. I miss him alot. Thanks os and thanks for posting this great clip !!

  • This is the kind of response that makes it all worth while. Thank you so much for sharing a little of your personal relationship with os.

  • @clydeclark Mike...I take issue with your comment "not as pretty as he did, though". You do a fantastic job of carrying on Oswald's style! Bev King

  • @shortspider I got to spend an evening backstage at the Opry with Os, treated me like a long lost kin. Made my dream come true meeting him. This was a true gentleman and musician. I still think about him and miss him.

I can hear him now...."HEH, HEH, HEH!"

  • He's also - unsurprisingly - the best dresser in that band.

God bless Billy. Keep it simple and play with your heart. That way you can do very clever stuff secretly ;-)

  • So Beautiful. He'll never have an equal in my mind. breings teas to my eyes. Thanks so much.

  • When Oswald goes way high up on the neck at one point - I've always said he goes into the "Os-Zone" which to me is the land beyond the frets. In his A tuning the last fully fretted note he has is an E at the 19th fret. The high A he hits would be at the 24th fret if you had frets that went that far-so you have to know where you are going and what to do when you get there-Os always did.

  • Some think of the difficult and not the beauty of a song Oswald knew this

  • @Lessar77 Really, it is the slow simple songs that are more difficult to play. If you hit a wrong note in the middle of a simple tune...it's THERE! You can not cover it up with a hasty lick around it like you can in a high speed, flurry of notes type tune!

  • Some of the more modern "reso" players think that Oswald's playing was too simple. I would like to tell the ones that think that-he was playing something that you don' seem to be able to do and that is playing the MELODY of the song. Most players today, if you did not hear them announce what they were playing you would have no idea what they were playing. Thanks Os for all the great memories.

  • The Master at work, awesome .

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!! I want to learn how to play this!

  • Oswald was the greatest dobro player that ever lived. He was what made the Roy Acuff sound so good. One final comment......nice hat.

  • Also one of the nicest people to spend time with

  • @freddodaw The Daddy of them all

  • @freddodaw NOW WAIT A MINUTE, OSWALD WAS GOOD IN HIS OWN RIGHT BUT HE DID NOT MAKE ROY SOUND GOOD. ROY ACUFF HAS TALENT ALL OF HIS OWN.

  • @dadsgirl0423 Of course he did, but the dobro make his music special. You always knew it was Roy doing Wabash Cannonball as soon as you heard the dobro notes.

  • ......awesome!!!! We miss you Os. Jreb

  • Still gives me goosebumps.

  • Love it!

  • we lost one of the great musicans when os died

  • SO GORGEOUS

AHHH he was one of the best...I love this
