There have been many great people that left this life much too early, and Bruce is certainly tops among them. He gave so much to the world in the short time he was here and continues to do so. Regardless of copywrites and smarmy little comments from people, you have made a fine compilation here. TY
people saying that chuck norris would 'kick the ass' of bruce lee are mostly ignorants. as a matter of fact chuck norris even admitted than he dont stand a chance against bruce lee.

bruce lee was one of the greatest fighters ever in many people minds the only person that wouldve been able to beat him would of been his master ip man but nobody today would be able to beat him regardless of strength ,first rule of martial arts, having strength is good but technique and training will topple even the strongest man, look at me im medium sized relatively slim and have destroyed guys twice my size in fights and in competitions
The ufc fightters you see today have been shaped by bruce lee & the way he was training.
No boxer no bodybuild no martial artist trained anywhere near bruce lee fitness level or strength training , when you look into his books he was crazy intelligent with over 1000 books inless then TWO YEARS lol infact he did more in the short time he had left then chuck norris has ever done in the past 40 years
I can bet you now if chuck norris died he would of left nothing but chuck norris jokes behind
Yes I've read that story of him running with his friend who thought he was gonna have a heart attack. I think this is what killed him. He had a good run.
@NachtCrus Bruce paid chuck to make it look like bruce was the better fighter. Chuck Norris btw was a great fighter and proved it time and time again in international fights. I think bruce proved it ... only a couple times in RL in which is recorded and not hear-say.
i dont think prime yip man could have taken prime bruce lee. yip man excelled in his school, but bruce lee expanded his knowledge and style into a whole new system. plus his physical conditioning was unreal.
@MetalBback thats not what the ufc website says :) BRUCE LEE IS THE GODFATHER OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS (MMA) if you say that he was just actor then that shows me you have no idea of his fight stats ...bruce lee trainined in martial arts he was the ONLY person in the 1960s-1973 to mix all styles of martail arts
before that he held the hong kong championships and K.O a britsih bare knuckle fighter in the 3rd round... and that was bruce lee age (17)
@jimbob202019 I do not deny he was a good fighter, I cannot. but I have to say that he was and is over rated for the simple fact that. 1. He is known for his movies mostly... that being said it does not detract from his fighting abilities but his movies are what makes him a legend. 2. There are better fighters out there in the world. Some dude on a mountain somewhare or in a slum or who knows maybe up the block from you or I. just because I seen Bruce Lee in a movie does not make him the best.
Heres the thing.. its not beuce lee saying hes the best, its real ufc cage fighters and sportmen from arnold swarchenegger to boxers such as ali and manny pacquiao.
Bruce lee is rated by the biggest names and legends in the feild to this day, he training night and day he was the first person to have his body ripped like that via his nutrition that he designed which now all boxers and bodybuilds use now.

@MetalBback youre only able to say this 30+ years after the dude passed away and the legacy he left behind...

You mean that Chuck Norris doesn't stand a chance or Bruce Lee? Either way Chuck Norris isn't even in the same league as Bruce Lee... Bruce Lee would make him look pitiful...
He was definitely the Elvis of Martial Arts! Though I'm sure Elvis himself was not too bad at it. He was trained in private classes. (Best kind in my opinion.) Him and his friends gave each other goofy nicknames though like "Tiger" (Elvis's) and "Dragon". At least his music wasn't cheesy!
Due to technology wise..not like now we have the cellphone cam..cos during 70s ..Uncountable fights that Bruce encountered were unfilmed doesn't mean he's not in real fight. Will u carry a video cam everywhere u go?and one explanation...Street Fights were not uncommon for Bruce..What he wants is real master against him which is proven Chuck Norris, bolo Yeung lost to him before but he respected them and they become friends except Bolo...He hv serious issue with Bruce...
All men can be beaten, no man is invincible, although I believed Bruce was when I was a kid. I like to imagine how succesful he would have been with mma in the UFC now. I believe most certainly he would have been lightweight champion. But, undefeated indefinately?! Hard to imagine. Think about all the great fighters history has seen...Mike Tyson, Muhamed Ali, mma legends like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddel. They all get hurt...Blood and bones is what we all are.
wow if anyones doubting the skills of bruce lee your fucking retarded he still has the fastest punch ever he worked out so strenuously that he broke his back contrary to what his motion picture biography showed and he did compete before he started doing movies im my opinion bruce is still the greatest martial artist to ever live but the main reason why he is considered the best is because of his fighting philosophies alot of you need to know your shit before you bitch
WTF Joe Lewis? This mofo wasn't even mention in any of Bruce's films, biography, or articles.
The only thing that even has Bruce and Joe mention in the same shit is Joe's own monkey ass site. If you guys want some info about Bruce y not go ask someone like Dan Insanto or Chuck. The ones who know him best.
Joe Lewis? Psh! Get real the man obviously has some kinda grudge agianst Bruce. I guess no one knows him???
His name is Cung Le, he's a San Shou fighter, and he's from Viet Nam not Taiwan. He's good, but I know people who are better. Marvin Perry for example. Cung is afraid of Marvin.
He was a street fighter. That's how he got famous. He was considered the most powerful man on earth. Why? Because he knew how to utilize every inch of his body. Never underestimate.
Well, I wouldn't go so far as to call them fat but they have extra body weight which they know how to use to their advantage. What exactly are you asking?
newjersey, instead of being an ignorant fucktard, why don't you just ask a personal trainer how some athletes look more cut than others. Fedor Emelianenko is the current WAMMA HW champ, the #1 ranked MMA HW, in the top 5 P4P MMA's, has never been defeated, is a 4x world sambo champ and a European judo champ and he has no 6-pack to speak of. Yet look at that, he's got many more credentials than Bruce.
Also, I love how you say actual fighting is more "fake" than the fighting in Bruce Lee movies
Caged matches are always held back by rules, like no biting, no elbowing, no headbutts etc. If you watch Bruce Lee's interviews you'll hear him mention that in real fighting you train every part of you body, because there are no rules.
Now pit those caged fighters against Bruce without those rules and we'll see who gets shattered.
spathieuluder, fuck Bruce. The guy didn't even spar full-contact and apparently you don't either. Do you actually think Bruce bit people in training? Give me a fucking break. If you're too chickenshit to fight under unified rules there's no way in hell you'd be man enough to fight with no rules. Anti-MMA assholes are all the same: no training, no fights and no balls. Untrained, pedantic cowards all the way.
If you are fighting for you life, you would have wished you trained to every part of your body when you are facing an enemy who is trained to utilized every part of his body.
MMA's DO train to use every part of their body, fucktard. You sound like you've never done MMA or ANY type of training before, because if you did you would know that NO ONE can bite their partner during sparring. It's fucking stupid. No one's going to agree to use bites, etc., including Bruce. Tell me how many people he's bitten or blinded with his eye pokes, including his training partners.
If caged fighters are trained to utilized their jaws, elbows, and cranium in a fight, as you claim they are, then they are certainly being held back by the entertainment industry's clamor for a "clean" fight.
spathieluder, I don't recall Bruce biting anyone. I just fucking told you to tell me how many people Bruce has bitten. NOTICE HOW YOU DIDN'T ANSWER. Typical LARPer response. You make all this big, condescending talk about "rules" and how one shouldn't train with them, yet you and Bruce aren't biting people and ripping their nuts off in training. Why don't you show me a video of how you jam your finger in someone's eye during one of your mcdojo's practice sessions. I would LOVE to see it.
actuallly in one of his books bruce lee talked about biting someone because he had no other way out of a chokehold. his whole style is about having no style and doing whatever you can to win/ constantly adapting.
Yeah, that just goes to show he was extremely lacking when it came to biting. I mean, give me a break. So he got out of the chokehold. That just delays the inevitable. You're not going to beat a good grappler, at least one who's superior to you, just by biting. What kind of "skill" is that? That's kiddy shit, literally. My little cousins can bite. Why aren't they lauded on the internet?
I would gladly bite someones arm and tear some skin out if i couldnt get out of a chokehold, better than falling alseep and not beable able to do anything for a good 10mins? yea but i guess its kiddy shit...ur soft no mercy!!
If someone has an arm around your neck, what makes you think you'll be able to bite them??? Put your hand on your throat. Without moving it, try to bite it. See? It's physically impossible. Stupid newbs, think they can override years of training and conditioning with kid moves....
1st of all i would nvr be in that position, 2nd of all i said i would if i could dumbass. 3rdly I constantly adept and fight differently depending on the other person, if his arm is aroun my neck which is doubtfull i would use my arms to try and force it up and than bite and tear some flesh off, keep in my "newb (nerd term)" that i hav been in alot more fights than u hav and street fights are unpredictable....if u in a position and ur only option is to bite u do...ur soft.
Kommisar, I don't get why you're bashing Lee, without Lee the whole world of modern martial arts would barely be a glimpse of what it is now. He basically showed the world how martial arts could be used theatrically and with that started the mass movement around the world. He had been in some serious fights before his movies too with people who refused to let him take the style to the Westerners. Needless to say he kicked these master's asses.
Dadanster, I'm not "bashing" Bruce by pointing out the obvious, which is apparently something you've never gotten. Bruce was not the be-all and end-all of MA. The world of MA would have gone on without him like it has for thousands of years. He didn't start any movement outside the film industry. He didn't compete and he didn't demonstrate his shit would work against a real fighter.
What "masters"? All I hear Bruce beating, besides WMJ, are fucking unnamed cans -- NOBODIES.
I agree with everything you have said, but it is worth pointing out BL's influence on what became wester kickboxing. Jun Fan is really a proto-kickboxing. May not seem like much today, but it was pretty ahead of the curve.
Bruce didn't have any influence on kickboxing. What the hell are you talking about? No one uses Bruce Lee kickboxing techniques. He didn't influence karate or boxing either, which had a lot to do with the establishment of American kickboxing. Bruce didn't influence the arts at all, only movies.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't know as much as you think you do.
BL trained Joe Lewis. Joe set up and dominated the first Kickboxing matches in North America using what was basically JKD sparring methodology.
Search for : joe lewis vs greg baines
v=67NdOX2lj-k
I am not a BL nut hugger. I don't think he could beat *any* trained fighter today without using modern training to do it, but I will give him the credit he is due.
No, you idiot. American kickboxing came about via combining full-contact karate and boxing. JKD had shit on it. Bruce didn't even know how to kick properly when Chuck first met him, and Joe is on record as saying Bruce had very few MT skills and was phasing out his WC in favor of KICKBOXING skills. JKD = a combination of WC, boxing and various other styles. If anything, JKD is based off kickboxing more than the other way around.
"American kickboxing came about via combining full-contact karate and boxing"
Oh really? "Full Contact Karate" was a rename of the original "American Kickboxing" that started in 1970. The sport was renamed just "Kickboxing". FCK *always* had boxing in it from the very first match. Just like Jeet Kune Do had boxing in it. Just like there was boxing in the sparring sessions between Bruce and Joe Lewis *before* JL put together the first kickboxing matches. That's BL's contribution
Bullshit. Bruce didn't even compete. Joe Lewis did all the work. He merely trained with Bruce. How does a guy who doesn't even compete in ANYTHING help found a brand new sport? Bruce didn't do shit. Great, he gave Joe some good ideas, yet it was JOE who was a kickboxer. Bruce didn't even know how to kick until he started training with Chuck and Joe.
See now here I completely agree with you. Bruce was afraid of competition. Joe did do all the work. I agree completely, but he did have an influence on the boxing aspect of the sport.
Joe could have got the idea from Thailand, but he didn't. He got it from Bruce. Whether Bruce got the idea from Thailand is another story.
Bruce had no MT skills when he met Joe. Bruce did do amateur boxing but that's it. He and Bruce worked together but Bruce didn't say, "Hey, why don't you employ boxing into your karate arsenal," one day and then a bulb went off in Joe's head.
Of course he had no MT skills; That doesn't mean he wasn't exposed to it when he lived in Thailand. He sparred with MT scrubs (stuntmen) in Thailand. He knew the style. He sucked against it.
Bruce was using boxing hands when he was teaching Joe. If you bothered to wath the vid I recommended to you, you'd hear in his own words how he credited BL with the idea, and how he used specific ideas from his training with Bruce like the double hook to win in the ring.
OK, I finally got around to seeing the video and I don't see how you can say Bruce did so much. He gave Joe some good techniques and principles to use, but nothing along the lines of, "Hey, why don't you use more boxing techniques with your karate?" He gave him some good ideas. BIG DEAL. I don't see how he made an "impact" on full-contact fighting, MA, kickboxing, etc.
Furthermore, I didn't hear Joe mention anything JKD-specific. All that stuff he mentioned had been used in boxing.
Absolutely right. He never used anything from JKD except the idea of using a boxing structure for the hands, instead of something from Asian martial arts. *That* is the only contribution BL made to kick-boxing. He probably lifted it from elsewhere, but he was the one who popularized it among elite American Karateka. Even folks like the Urquidez family who already boxed, didn't use boxing hands when they fought Karate.
Bruce Lee didn't bring much new into the field of MA, but he did make it famous in NA with his movies- and helped make it mainstream.
He studied a lot of different MA's and took a lot of notes - which is why I wouldn't be surprised if the things he talked about already existed in other MA's. The book published after his death was his personal notes - and you can find that a lot of hisnotes come from dozens of other books and styles.
OH yea i like how it ends in the middle of the song

AMAZING. Bruce Lee is just simply incredible

He was a street fighter. That's how he got famous. He was considered the most powerful man on earth. Why? Because he knew how to utilize every inch of his body. Never underestimate.
Kruelwanderer911 3 years ago
Kruel, Do you believe MMA&UFC is fake entertainment? I do so, I mean why are these MMA guys fat rather then looking like bruce lee.
newjersey02 3 years ago
Well, I wouldn't go so far as to call them fat but they have extra body weight which they know how to use to their advantage. What exactly are you asking?
Kruelwanderer911 3 years ago
Because there are weightclasses. They can't all be 136 pounds.
You don't have to look like a bodybuilder to kick someone's ass.
Don't comment on things you don't have an understanding of, especially MMA.
andrewwatchedthis 3 years ago
Yea, i guess your right aout they can not be all 136 pounds. But how did bruce lee achieve such results from weighing in on that much.
newjersey02 3 years ago
newjersey, instead of being an ignorant fucktard, why don't you just ask a personal trainer how some athletes look more cut than others.
Also, I love how you say actual fighting is more "fake" than the fighting in Bruce Lee movies
kommisar 3 years ago
Caged matches are always held back by rules, like no biting, no elbowing, no headbutts etc. If you watch Bruce Lee's interviews you'll hear him mention that in real fighting you train every part of you body, because there are no rules.
Now pit those caged fighters against Bruce without those rules and we'll see who gets shattered.
spathieluder 3 years ago
spathieuluder, fuck Bruce. Untrained, pedantic cowards all the way.
kommisar 3 years ago
If you are fighting for you life, you would have wished you trained to every part of your body when you are facing an enemy who is trained to utilized every part of his body.
Caged matches are good... for entertainment
spathieluder 3 years ago
MMA's DO train to use every part of their body, fucktard. You sound like you've never done MMA or ANY type of training before, because if you did you would know that NO ONE can bite their partner during sparring. It's fucking stupid. No one's going to agree to use bites, etc., including Bruce. Tell me how many people he's bitten or blinded with his eye pokes, including his training partners.
kommisar 3 years ago
If caged fighters are trained to utilized their jaws, elbows, and cranium in a fight, as you claim they are, then they are certainly being held back by the entertainment industry's clamor for a "clean" fight.
spathieluder 3 years ago
spathieluder, I don't recall Bruce biting anyone. I would LOVE to see it.
kommisar 3 years ago
actuallly in one of his books bruce lee talked about biting someone because he had no other way out of a chokehold. his whole style is about having no style and doing whatever you can to win/ constantly adapting.
Rummity 3 years ago
Yeah, that just goes to show he was extremely lacking when it came to biting. I mean, give me a break. So he got out of the chokehold. That just delays the inevitable. You're not going to beat a good grappler, at least one who's superior to you, just by biting. What kind of "skill" is that? That's kiddy shit, literally. My little cousins can bite. Why aren't they lauded on the internet?
kommisar 3 years ago
I would gladly bite someones arm and tear some skin out if i couldnt get out of a chokehold, better than falling alseep and not beable able to do anything for a good 10mins? yea but i guess its kiddy shit...ur soft no mercy!!
TideofWar420 3 years ago
If someone has an arm around your neck, what makes you think you'll be able to bite them??? Put your hand on your throat. Without moving it, try to bite it. See? It's physically impossible. Stupid newbs, think they can override years of training and conditioning with kid moves....
kommisar 3 years ago
1st of all i would nvr be in that position, 2nd of all i said i would if i could dumbass. 3rdly I constantly adept and fight differently depending on the other person, if his arm is aroun my neck which is doubtfull i would use my arms to try and force it up and than bite and tear some flesh off, keep in my "newb (nerd term)" that i hav been in alot more fights than u hav and street fights are unpredictable....if u in a position and ur only option is to bite u do...ur soft.
TideofWar420 3 years ago
Kommisar, I don't get why you're bashing Lee, without Lee the whole world of modern martial arts would barely be a glimpse of what it is now. He basically showed the world how martial arts could be used theatrically and with that started the mass movement around the world. He had been in some serious fights before his movies too with people who refused to let him take the style to the Westerners. Needless to say he kicked these master's asses.
DadansterGfaqs 3 years ago
Dadanster, I'm not "bashing" Bruce by pointing out the obvious, which is apparently something you've never gotten. Bruce was not the be-all and end-all of MA. The world of MA would have gone on without him like it has for thousands of years. He didn't start any movement outside the film industry. He didn't compete and he didn't demonstrate his shit would work against a real fighter.
What "masters"? All I hear Bruce beating, besides WMJ, are fucking unnamed cans -- NOBODIES.
kommisar 3 years ago
i wouldn't say there is a BEST martial artist... but bruce is still amazing.
plus winning trophies and medals don't make you a good martial artist... you know if your good if you can survive out there in the streets
Jeffrey9194 2 years ago
I agree with everything you have said, but it is worth pointing out BL's influence on what became wester kickboxing. Jun Fan is really a proto-kickboxing. May not seem like much today, but it was pretty ahead of the curve.
mthai66 2 years ago
Bruce didn't have any influence on kickboxing. What the hell are you talking about? No one uses Bruce Lee kickboxing techniques. He didn't influence karate or boxing either, which had a lot to do with the establishment of American kickboxing. Bruce didn't influence the arts at all, only movies.
kommisar 2 years ago
If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't know as much as you think you do.
BL trained Joe Lewis. Joe set up and dominated the first Kickboxing matches in North America using what was basically JKD sparring methodology.
Search for : joe lewis vs greg baines
v=67NdOX2lj-k
I am not a BL nut hugger. I don't think he could beat *any* trained fighter today without using modern training to do it, but I will give him the credit he is due.
How do you not know this?
mthai66 2 years ago
No, you idiot. American kickboxing came about via combining full-contact karate and boxing. JKD had shit on it. Bruce didn't even know how to kick properly when Chuck first met him, and Joe is on record as saying Bruce had very few MT skills and was phasing out his WC in favor of KICKBOXING skills. JKD = a combination of WC, boxing and various other styles. If anything, JKD is based off kickboxing more than the other way around.
kommisar 2 years ago
"American kickboxing came about via combining full-contact karate and boxing"
Oh really? "Full Contact Karate" was a rename of the original "American Kickboxing" that started in 1970. The sport was renamed just "Kickboxing". FCK *always* had boxing in it from the very first match. Just like Jeet Kune Do had boxing in it. Just like there was boxing in the sparring sessions between Bruce and Joe Lewis *before* JL put together the first kickboxing matches. That's BL's contribution
mthai66 2 years ago
P.S. I looked it up. The term "Full Contact Karate" was first used in 1974, replacing "American Kickboxing" which had been in use since 1970.
mthai66 2 years ago
Bruce didn't even know how to kick until he started training with Chuck and Joe.
kommisar 2 years ago
See now here I completely agree with you. Bruce was afraid of competition. Joe did do all the work. I agree completely, but he did have an influence on the boxing aspect of the sport.
Joe could have got the idea from Thailand, but he didn't. He got it from Bruce. Whether Bruce got the idea from Thailand is another story.
mthai66 2 years ago
Bruce had no MT skills when he met Joe. Bruce did do amateur boxing but that's it. He and Bruce worked together but Bruce didn't say, "Hey, why don't you employ boxing into your karate arsenal," one day and then a bulb went off in Joe's head.
kommisar 2 years ago
Of course he had no MT skills; That doesn't mean he wasn't exposed to it when he lived in Thailand. He sparred with MT scrubs (stuntmen) in Thailand. He knew the style. He sucked against it.
Bruce was using boxing hands when he was teaching Joe. If you bothered to wath the vid I recommended to you, you'd hear in his own words how he credited BL with the idea, and how he used specific ideas from his training with Bruce like the double hook to win in the ring.
I'm no brain dead fanboy.
mthai66 2 years ago
OK, I finally got around to seeing the video and I don't see how you can say Bruce did so much. He gave Joe some good techniques and principles to use, but nothing along the lines of, "Hey, why don't you use more boxing techniques with your karate?" He gave him some good ideas. BIG DEAL. I don't see how he made an "impact" on full-contact fighting, MA, kickboxing, etc.
Furthermore, I didn't hear Joe mention anything JKD-specific. All that stuff he mentioned had been used in boxing.
kommisar 2 years ago
Absolutely right. He never used anything from JKD except the idea of using a boxing structure for the hands, instead of something from Asian martial arts. *That* is the only contribution BL made to kick-boxing. He probably lifted it from elsewhere, but he was the one who popularized it among elite American Karateka. Even folks like the Urquidez family who already boxed, didn't use boxing hands when they fought Karate.
mthai66 2 years ago
Bruce Lee didn't bring much new into the field of MA, but he did make it famous in NA with his movies- and helped make it mainstream.
He studied a lot of different MA's and took a lot of notes - which is why I wouldn't be surprised if the things he talked about already existed in other MA's. The book published after his death was his personal notes - and you can find that a lot of hisnotes come from dozens of other books and styles.
